  • My son was very premature, i pumped for 6 months before i dried up....i was so depressed after i lost my milk, my son wouldnt latch so i only pumped. i am wanting to relactate can you give me any advice????

  • You are such a beautiful mama! Keep up the good work!! You are very inspiring.

  • @mrsgilsnellie22 Aww thank you!

  • of course it is:D i read it in a doctors page somewhere i dont remember.....

  • I got inspired from ur video and startd pumpg again,i used do pumping on n off coz i never used to c any big improvmnt. thanq so much.i have been pumping from 1week and waiting..wish me good luck..how did u manage household work and taking care of ur baby?

  • @hk2kk2 Awww I am glad you did! I wish you all the best, lots of luck and positive vibes being sent your way! My house work kind of took a back seat while I was pumping. I got my husband to help out as much as I could. I would pump while sitting beside my son on the floor and talk, play with him so it wasn't like I was totally gone while I was pumping. Once he was mobile he would entertain himself.

  • @nannerskins thanq so much for the reply..I have some more questions..I am planning to try nursing supplementer too after looking at ur video :) and wanna c how my lo will respond to that. Please help me with the following Qs1.how many days of 1hr pumping sessions are needed bfore going to 2hr session 2.how many days did it take to get ur milk back(3oz)?

  • 3.how did u manage cleaning bf or pumping equipmnt, when ur pumping every1-2hr..how often did u clean? 3. where did u buy the feeding tube for home made nursing supplementer and how much does it cost?

  • So I have a question obviously I can't do it now cause my daughter is to old but I'm pregnant with baby #2 is it possible toward the end of pregnancy to get your milk supply going before baby is born? I know this is a stupid question but I had problems with my daughter. like could you pump and stuff to get it started or does the baby have to be born before milk supply is achieved?

  • @JennandJasonM Not a stupid question at all! To be honest I am not 100% sure, however I do know that if you were to pump at all or give yourself simple stimulation it can in fact cause contractions and might possibly put you into labor so I really wouldn't want to recomend it. However! After your baby is born and the placenta is delivered thats when all the hormones kick in and you start to produce colostrum more and breast milk. I would highly recomend to read about milk production it mighthelp

  • @JennandJasonM Also if you have the baby right to the breast right away after delivery you are more inclined to produce milk too. Another good thing to read about is kangaroo care/skin to skin contact and supply and demand as well as different things you can do to insure you can produce enough milk for your second little one. Good luck. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I don't mind answering and there is NEVER a stupid question.

  • Tried posting some websites but discovered you can't do that. No websites say it contains iron. All do say it contains vitamin c, fibre, potassium and depending on If you take it in a gelatin capsule it can contain protein.

  • @nannerskins

I have been searching online for the right information. I personally trust my doctor more than anyone. His wife is a homeopathic specialist. So she tends to reflect upon his practice.

Anyways a few things I found are a) Fenugreek - Although there is an unsubstantiated claim that women in harems were fed fenugreek seeds to increase their breast size, no studies confirm fenugreek can result in breast enlargement.

    But mostly this :

People who are allergic to peanuts or soybeans

  • Did you know fenugreek is not to be taken by people with anemia? I am severely anemic and spoke to my doctor about taking it to increase supply ( I don't have a supply issue - I just wanted to be able to store more) and he is usually a very herbal guy but is strongly against me taking it because of my anemia.

  • @Mommy2angelplus2 Really? A lot of things I have read say its actually okay for anemia because of the iron content in it. hmmmmm

  • At what point did yyou stop BFing before? How long have you been dry? I just bought a new pump today b/c I'm trying to relactate as well.

  • @carlynicoleelliotte I had stopped pumping about 6-7 weeks before I started to try to re-lactate. Tons of good luck on your journey to re-lactating!! Its tons of hard work, but I am sure you can do it. :) What pump did you end up buying? My pump in style wasn't doing anything for me and neither does the hospital grade one, sadly. I hand express way better, go figure. lol

  • @nannerskins I bought another PIS advanced. Before I quit pumping before (I EPed for 4 months) I used the PIS and the Symphony (hospital grade) both by Medela. Noah wouldn't get the milk out good enough so I had to pump. I was never able to hand express...like EVER. I would make my nipples SO sore even trying. I'm hoping this time I can get Noah on the breast. If not I'm fine with sticking with the bottle. Formula has done nothing but cause problems.

  • @nannerskins Same goes for us. Formula gave us problems untill we put him on Neocat formula and he totally changed! Wasn;t bleeding, no more screaming or projectile vomiting. Dagney also couldn't6 get out everything either. he would be on the breast for 2 hours and barely got anything out so i started pumping too & supplementing with formula since he was in the nicu. I just couldn't produce the amount he wanted from me. Dagney is a big guy though so I am not sure if that has anything to do w it

  • @nannerskins

Ya the antidepressants are often a class b to d when " breastfeeding". I know some herbs aren't to be taken either. And even some vitamins because it can be bad for the baby.

  • @Mommy2angelplus2 I've heard that about some herbs and vitamins to actually! I like drinking herbal teas too so I had to search and see what is dangerous to take too. So I have a list of the ones that are bad on my fridge. I know some babies can have a reaction to the fenugreek, but so far Dagney hasn't and didn't before when I was giving him breast milk, but I am going to be keeping an eye on him anyways.

  • Should you be taking all the herbs and medication and still be feeding him the milk?

  • @Mommy2angelplus2 Yup, its still fine. I was talking to a lactation consultant at Dr. Newman's clinic in Toronto and it should be okay. Its actually worse if I were to be taking an approved anti- depressant for breastfeeding apparently.

  • Dagney is so cute!! :) Ive said it a million times but im proud of you :)

  • Way to hang w/it Meg! This is the first vid I've watched from you in awhile as you know things have been crazy my way. ;) I was surprised to see how much Dagney has grown! WOW! He's such a cutie! You are lookin' good too Mama!

  • @JessC00k hehe thanks, Jess!! He has gotten HUGE!!!

  • So excited for you! :) Keep us updated with your progress. Dagney is SO stinkin' cute :)

  • @thebubblelush Thanks, Carla! He is pretty darn cute, I must agree! :p

  • thats awesome great job!! :) you're a super mom.

  • @NatAndDex Aww thank you!!

  • Brewers Yeast is good for milk supply

  • @cali290501 Thats what I have heard! Someone suggested a dark beer.

  • i am so happy you posted this! because i am actually thinking about re-lactating! i hope i can have good luck like you!

  • @kylessmommy10 I hope you can do it too!!! Good luck ! <3

  • So I have been reading up on this all night now. ha ha It is so neat! I never knew it was possible or I would have done it a LONG time ago. From everything I have read I could still do it now.. it'd be A LOT of work but it's possible. Wish I stayed at home during the day (to pump) or I would totally try!

  • Thats so cool I never knew anyone could do that. Just curious do u think u would ever see if he could actually take it right from the source and nurse or would he have no idea what to do?

  • @ErinandJon1 Its neat isn't it?! Well I am going to try again once I have a full supple. I bought a nipple shield to wear to try to get him to latch that way since he will be use to a bottle nipple. He hasn't been on the breast nursing since the beginning of September so I think he might be confused by it all. He is used to the bottle for sure because he also wont even open to latch on and kinda is confused when near it. We will give it another go, if not, it wont be the end of the world.

  • @nannerskins Yeah thats so cool even is he doesn't get to latch on at least he will be getting your breast milk. Let us know what he does when or if you do try to get him to latch :) Good luck and great job btw!

  • You are doing an amazing job! I hope that you can feed him all breast milk. How awesome would that be?! I am on the same medication. If you come to a stand still you could think about upping the pescribed tablets. I don't know how many you are on, but its safe to take up to 8 a day along with the fenugreek. Do you have any links on hand expressing? I have never done that, so that could help me. I got my new pump yesterdy, so I am really going to up the pumping and see if I can produce more too.

  • @chatabox0girl Thanks, love! It would be SO amazing to have him on ALL breastmilk! I hope! I am taking 3 a day, how many are you taking now? Yess hand express after each pump session, you might be surprsied that there is still some milk in there that the pump just can't get out. Try pumping every hour, even if it is just for 5-10 minutes. The stimulation will help tons. I hope you can produce more.

  • @nannerskins I am currently on 7 a day. I am hoping with this new pump I wont need to go to 8. I usually breastfeed him after a pumping session to get the last of it out, but can't do that after he goes to bed. So trying hand expressing tonight!

  • He has such a sweet cry! Good job on relactating!!! :)

  • @matthewsmomma07 Aww thanks! I have been told he has a sweet cry too hehe. BUT when he is upset look out!! Its a scream fest lol

  • @matthewsmomma07 Yeah my little guy is super quiet in front of people but when its just me or my husband he is so loud haha

  • Megan... I am SO proud of you!!! So... funny story about Fenugreek... I thought my milk supply in my left breast was low so I took it and both breasts got SO full and big that I had to stop... LOL My breasts were spraying Willow in the face all the time! lol Apparently my supply is totally fine. lol That is SO awesome that you stuck with it and have increased your supply to where it is now!! You are such a great mommy to do this for Dagney :D xoxo Erin

  • @babyvlog bahahaha, Erin you are too funny! There is always one breast that will produce less.. my left one always seems to produce less. lol I guess its like one is bigger then the other kinda thing!! And thank you!!! :D

  • wow hope all your efforts pay off!

wishing you all the best, you amazing momma you!

  • @ReillyAJ Thanks, love! I hope it all pays off too!

  • Again SUPER proud of you!!!!! AND YAYAYAYAYA!!!!

  • @armywifehill Thank you, Michelle!!

  • So did you completely stop BFing or what were you doing before? Did you stop lactating completely before you started trying or how much were you producing?

I wish I would have known this when my son was 6 weeks old.. this video would have been SO helpful for me!

I am glad it wasn't Dagney's nap time with that fire alarm going off! lol

  • @JenNTim509 I was pumping from when he was in the nicu and stopped in October totally. BFing didn't work for us for a few reasons so I just pumped and gave him expressed milk in a bottle. But I stopped, regretted it and now I am trying to do it again. Yup, I stopped and wasn't producing anything, not even a drop. Before I was producing about 3.5-4 ounches every 3-4 hours. Oh gosh, Dagney sleeps right through the alarm, how funny is that?! lol

  • @nannerskins No way!! How long had you stopped and produced none for before you started trying again? I totally would have done this when my son was 6 weeks old.. I stopped and totally regretted it and tried pumping 2 weeks after I stopped and got a teeny tiny drop and that was it so I stopped. :o(

  • @JenNTim509 It had been 6 weeks since I had dried up completely and then started pumping again. I think all the herbs and medication and tons of pumping sessions I have been doing that has helped tons. It does take A LOT of work!! I started to pump once an hour which is so time consuming, but it can take up to 8 weeks to produce an amount that a baby needs so I still have far to go. If you have anymore kids now you know!! :D

  • Wow... lots of work, but good for you!! How long did you go without breastfeeding before you started re-lactating?

  • @kjkj8686 It was about 6-7 weeks :)

  • @nannerskins Wow!! That is awesome.. and holy hard work! I stopped after a week and tried again 3 weeks after. I was still in so much pain, I stopped again. Good for you, I really hope everything goes as planned for you!

  • YAY!!! congrats!!!

    That's amazing!!!!!!!!

I wish you all the luck and strength! WTG!!!

  • @CandidMommy Awww thank you, hun!
