  • THIS is 80's hard rock

  • This is an AMAZING underrated album

  • @baraboo22 Nope, it's Night Ranger's worst for SURE BRO! But Secret of My Success is my fav NR song!

  • Jack Blades wrote it, but Kelly sang it. Thats what being in a great band is all about. Whoever can do it best, although I bet Jack could sing the hell out of it too!

  • Good song. Really like their harder rock n roll stuff but good non the less. I know the guys in Night Ranger like to rock out with rockin Guitars so this is tame for live.

  • Love this song. Huge Night Ranger fan. Takes me back.

  • TY for posting this me and my best friend actually were in the audience for the making of this video, they filmed the live show in Berkeley at a commuiity theater by the college.. and we have only seen it once since..brings back a memory of a wonderful day...

  • I've been listening to '80's rock all afternoon here and now I have no choice but to annoy the hell out of my all weekend listening to Night Ranger, Journey, Styx, and REO.

  • Wow.... Brings back Memories!!!!

  • Kelly is absolutly awesome in this song. Who else can play the drums and sing simuanteously the way he does?? I could watch him all day long. Kelly, you were amazing and still are!!

  • They have a lot of underrated songs. Listen to Rain Comes Crashing Down on this same album (Big Life) or Don't Start Thinking I'm Alone Tonight on Man In Motion.

  • Yeah. Love it, completely underrated song... this has got this "sth"... Like "Sing me away". This guitar and this clima... Ah.

  • Igaden..many thanks for bringing this one to the light of day.Been an NR fan since the early 80's when my son turned me on to them.I suppose at 72 I should be listening to elevator music.Screw that.Rock and Roll keeps me young and I need all the help I can get....=:)

  • @OldDobroPicker Keep it going MR.DOBRO Keep on Rockin til you can't hear it anymore, I'm 45 and It's still not loud enough

  • @OldDobroPicker You are my Idol man. I never wanna slow down either. Been a NRfan since 1983 when Dawn Patrol came out. Keep Rocking man! Peace & Rock!

  • @mach1franco ..Hah..guess there aren't all that many old dudes who still listen and love rock and roll.Who cares.NR was sooo talented and from some other videos I've watched they still are.I was hooked from day one and that hook has just gotten deeper.Rock on NR because you can bet I will until my last breath...=:)

  • Kelly is the best drummer/singer ever.Phil Collins comes next.

  • While it's not a bad song, it's actually decent. It just doesn't fit Night Ranger! This I can imagine being sung by Bill Champlin of Chicago!

  • this is much better than "Sister Christian".

  • This always struck me as the ultimate "lost love" song. Even though its been 20+ years it still makes me think of a special girl from Joplin Mo. and what might've been.

  • I think this is the album with Secrect To My Success, not? Liked it in the day.

  • havnt heard this in ages. nightranger didnt do a bad song.

  • Still say one of their best ever! Wish they would play it live jsut one time! WOW

  • Great song! This one goes out N.A....who literally broke my heart! ) :

  • Kelly Keagan is probably one of the best drummer/singers ever. Only other person I can think of like him that can kick ass drumming and sing his heart out would be Gil Moore from another 80's rock band, Triumph.

  • @railwayman95 I totally agree with you, however, check out Dean Castronovo (current Journey drummer). He is pretty awesome as well. He sings "Mother, Father" and it is an absolute killer.

  • Great song and I can't believe the 80's are gone. Where are all the good songs gone? Even the groups from the 80's are history and it's depressing!

  • Mike - So you think Jack Blades sang "Carry On", huh? That's a straight up rock song » The one you're thinking of, btw (Carribean-sounding drums in the beginning) is "Better Let It Go", I think, which is the very next track. And yeah touring with Kansas didn't help them, no

  • And in the case of this song Kelly sings like Jack ... but way to not answer my question! - Do you know which one sings "Carry On"? It wasn't a single, and I've just heard it a couple times .. but that is a great song ... vintage Night Ranger. (I think the Big Life album is unfairly ridiculed, out there, by some)

  • @Padarack1 mm i cant remember i think carry on was that kind of too me carribean/rock sounding track wasn't it on big life but i'm sure jack sang that one lol you're the same guy who commented on my videos. rock on lol

  • @Padarack1, Kelly Keagy sang "Carry On," which was the flip side of "Secret of My Success," back when they still gauged Top-40 singles by 45 RPM single sales. I can recall going to our neighborhood department store when "Big Life" came out. My cousin had the money, and he dubbed me a copy on cassette until I could buy my own copy. "Carry On" was my cousin's favorite song, and it was certainly not Caribbean-flavored. It was closest to their classic sound.

  • Hmmm, you sure? Sometimes one guy records a song, on the record, and then in the video it's another guy singing it. I thought it was Jack because Jack has sang the song live, before. Ok well you know who sings the lead on "Carry On"? That's another one of my favorite Big Life song

  • @Padarack1 Yep, it's Keaggy. Great and similar voices them two though.

  • Brad gillis is awesome guitar player

  • Looking at the comments.....it will be ok. Dated this woman whose mother had divorced 13 times...yes no typo. She repeated the behaviour...lol but for that moment thought she was serious. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree....My Parents were married 40 years....She will never understand Love. Feel sorry for her and everyone she touches.

  • Kelly sang lead....

  • I believe Jack sang lead on this song

  • @Padarack1 kelly sang lead the video shows that

  • Big Life was a great album. To many memories with this album, and Night Ranger.

Thanks for posting this video. I hope Night Ranger or MCA doesn't take those memories away. I want to re-purchase the Big Life CD after I saw this. Wow !!

  • I was impressed by how much their songwriting had developed over the years. This album wasn't a strong seller, but this tune and The Color Of Your Smile were really good tunes.

Thanks for sharing! I'll have to go and buy Big Life and Seven Wishes. I miss them bad!

  • Sorry about spelling errors. I type to fast and didn't proof read.

  • This is a great song. This also reminds me of a girl I had never gotten over. And still am not. But she was taken from me by a friend who had her taken away by some other guy who divorce her. So now she's finally avialiable. Well FUCK HER NOW. It does still hurt though.

  • Way funny and well put, dude!

  • boring

  • I LOVE this song but it reminds me of Stacey in MT who left me remorslessly. I'm over it now though, finally so Stacey, if you read this, GO FUCK YOURSELF!

  • @rickerY2k9 HA!

  • @rickerY2k9 Hi this is stacy...perhaps we could make it work again. I really miss you!

  • @zeman1000 woot!

  • @rickerY2k9 Ha! That's classic.

  • @rickerY2k9 Well said my friend! Fuck her! LOL

  • @rickerY2k9 you're obviously not over it...if you still feel like that.. she probably forgot all about you and you're still insulting..

  • @rickerY2k9 LMAO...bro, you made me spit Rum and Coke all over my computer. It was worth it. =)

  • I wish this song was available on some MP3 site. I don't want to pay for the whole CD to get one song. Yeesh...Boy it takes me back. Thanks for posting it.

  • Why not?

    the whole cd is great

  • Thank you for this song !

  • I'm so damn confused did the drummer sing every song there voices are so simalier

  • really?

  • no Jack Blades also sang lead vocals

  • i know that but there voices are so smilarish

  • @journeyfan1995 yes I thought that also

  • Uh, no. Kelly and Jack are completely different.

  • I forgot all about this song! I used to have this on a VHS tape of many "Headbangers Ball" that I had a friend tape for me since I didn't have cable. Just seeing this brought back a TON of memories from my teen years! Not their best song but thanks for the upload and memories connected to this!

  • MANDY MOON, I know your out there, my heart aches every day.Its been a lifetime sine i have seen you. the 5 years we spent i treasure. I know you dont love me anymore, just hard to walk away even after all this time. My heart still breaks everyday. Time doesnot heal a broke heart

  • I definetely know the feeling!! Even though WE have been apart for yrs. There'll ALWAYS be that Special Place in my Heart for you. You know "WHO YOU ARE"! No question mark needed. We were Young. Times got a little tough. I left so that "You ALL" would/could have a Better Life. That was WHY. But, my HEART has been Broken and Bled Tears EVER Since then. So, IF you still LOVE ME as I Believe YOU DO!! You know where I am. Just call out my name and no matter where I am, I'll come running 2 C U Again

  • One of that new power-ballads. GREAT!!!

  • i like the black symbals form the drums

  • THANKS

  • Such a beautiful song

  • Does anyone have the music video for 'Sentimental Street?'

  • Die Stimme von Roger Taylor ist bedeutend besser.

Gibs ihnen allen Roger Meddows Taylor!!!!

  • Other super band with a drummer as vocals.... excellent

  • Thanks, I'm a Drummer myself. But, it seems that WE get the Least recognition? Sure there's got to be a lead guitarist, Bassist, rhythm quitar as well as the other Musicians. But, take the Drummer out and listen to the band. Would it be Near as Good without US?? THANKS!!!!

  • Amen,

  • I can't believe the Ipod store doesn't have this available for download. I LOVE this. Thank you so much for putting it on YouTube!

  • I love this band - always have= always will. Their songs, especially this one reminds me of days filled with love and promise and youth. So bittersweet its painful.

  • indeed, so many memories. I just found this here on youtube after not hearing it for a long time and it warped me back to the times you speak of. It's quite amazing how a song has that power.

  • always thought this was a brilliantly orchestrated song, should have sold millions but no, were stuck with michael, miley and brittany lol rock on night ranger, great memories from high school days!!

  • strange, the day after i posted this michael passed away, hearts away RIP MJ

  • I just found the first love of my life again and this song describes me to a "T" on how I felt about her and still do after 26 years!

Kelly's voice is amazing on this track!

    thx for the post!

  • I love this song too. Forgot all about it until I saw it listed on here. I have always been a NR fan and used to listen to this song alot. Guess time had lost it for awhile.

  • I listened to this song when I was dumped by the girl I thought I would marry. I went away to college and she was so good looking, she went for the guy with a full staff of maids... etc. The irony is that her family thought I was a stuck up snob. She didn't marry either of us. She married the brother of someone we went to our first homecoming with. Just a normal guy. Who knew? I was full of myself back then, but not anymore. A hard lesson, for sure.

  • I just LOVE this song.<3 has listening to Night Ranger sience 1996, when I was 5. Still love them, and this is one of my favourite song with them! =D

  • Keally Keagy is a BRILLIANT writer & should have gone BIG solo, alike Phil Collins. I LOVE ranger but they digressed from their hard rockin' roots.

Brad & Jeff didn't obtain the true guitar hero status they deserved because the band got typecast as a pop-band, courtesy of their Sist Christ AOR success. Oh wel, sure the Pay checks & royalties were sufficient recompense..

  • I agree, Broughmo

  • you said MTV, i'm said MTV 2

  • Remember like it was yesterday. Also remember an interview they did after this kick ass song did not do to well on the charts. They indicated the music biz was getting heavier, beginnings of grunge. Oh gosh where did all the CD sales go, lol??!! 80's were great, turned off my radio in the 90's!!

  • i've always had my radio turned off for years i didn't like music and the reason why??? 80's wasn't played!!!! now i've found out about these great bands and they speak to me!!!! especially night ranger

  • I wish someone would upload COLOR OF YOUR SMILE

  • BIg life is well written & produced but was didn't have the same commercial success as Midnight Madns. Ranger Got TOO soft for their dual shredder niche & got pigeon-holed as a pop band. Hard to find an identity when your balllads sold the most records & charted. Extreme fell into this same niche.

  • Sweenykim...you hit it right on the head!...Oh My God, you get it! I've waited forever for someone to make the correlation between NR and Extreme! I'm a big fan of both, and they both got done in by a Power ballad! Everyone wanted the next Sister Christian and More Than Words! But, if you really listened to the bands, you would know that they were much heavier than those songs!!!

  • I'm so surprised this song didn't get played like it should have on the radio. One of their alltime best!

  • you are so right!

  • WOW! Finally Brad isn't using his bloody Fender not saying it's a bad guitar as it isn't but nice to use a different guitar for a change.

  • I love "Feeding Off The Mojo". I think Gary Moon brought a really cool dynamic to the group and the writing was absolutely amazing. That being said...without Jack, Jeff and Fitz, it never felt like a proper NR album. And to those who say Big Life nearly killed NR....no, it didn't. Big Life was/is a tremendous album. But Grunge was coming along and Album Oriented Rock was being pushed into the background. NR was and will always be my fave band.

  • I wish I could find a video with Gary Moon!! But I agree with you! I did meet Night Ranger several times with and with out Gary Moon! Great bunch!!!

  • OMG I LOVE this song! Thank you so much!

  • This is a great song, 'Big Life' never got the credit it deserved. Their worst album was 'Feeding Off the Mojo."

  • I think this is "Big Life" is their greatest album. And this song comes in my top three.

  • Great song by a great band!!

  • I went to Berkeley High, and three friends and I somehow managed to get into this video shoot. I only saw the video once, when it "premiered" on MTV. This has given me a huge laugh, and brought me back to a night from many years ago.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I've been trying to find it for years. Hey, any idea's where I can find the video for "Color Of Your Smile" also from the Big Life album?

  • This video was made at a hall in Berkeley, CA. A friend was in their fan club and invited me to go. They only had 1 camera filming and they played that same song so many times from so many angles. I ended up getting 2 picks from Brad Gillis. Randomly doing cover tunes from AC/DC to keep the crown from being burned out on Hearts Away.

Unfortunately, I rarely saw the video since it didn't chart.

    Thanks For Uploading It!!!

  • I was also a member of their fan club and at the shoot. This is the first time I saw the video, just wish it was a better quality. Just remember having a blast that night.

  • Kelly Keagy is the heart of Night Ranger

  • all the band is great!!!

  • Good memories thank you great great great

  • Oh man, thank you for this. NR is one of my favorite bands ever. Great, great memories growing up listening to Big Life just graduating from HS. Thank you again!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! This vid used to be on Roling Stone mag's website but has been removed. If you can track the views you will see that there have been alot and will be alot from me!!! Thanks again!!!!!

  • YES! YES! YES!! It's about time this video/song got posted!! I've been looking for it on here for about a year. This is one of my favorite Night Ranger songs... and "Big Life" is one of their best albums. Good memories... Thanks again!

  • you know Big Life is definitely their worse album it almost killed one of America's greatest rock bands.

  • Personally, I liked Big life, not their best work ever, but it was their follow up album Man in Motion that was their worst!

  • 'Big Life' was in 1987, 'Man In Motion' was in 1988.

  • Man in Motion was embarrasingly bad.

BiG Life was an ok album. I remember really liking side one, and side 2 was ok.

  • hello angry again man in motion in my opinion was awesome!!!!

  • Man In Motion was fuckin' GREAT!!! Jeff and Brad's guitar work on that album was ridiculous. Music was changing at that time, and NR's sound was too melodic for late 80's radio! GNR had taken over, not to mention the abomination, Poison ;( NR has much respect from a lot of 80's Rock bands...2 great Lead Singers, 2 Outstanding Guitarists, "The" Keyboardist of the 80's "Fitz", and Kelly rounding it out on the kit! Awesome Band...period!

  • great song thanks for uploading.
