  • This brings back good memories for me too. My family visited the Outer Banks for several summers back from late '60s to mid '70s. Stayed up around Kitty Hawk and visited Hatteras a few times. Great fishing back then! Can remember many days on piers and along surf catching so many fish it was not even funny! Fondest memory was a "flounder blitz" along beach in front of Hatteras lighthouse during Thanksgiving week, 1973. Everyone was hauling in nice flounder...affraid we will never see that again.

  • @Belvedere3834spd Thanks for the comment. If the Park Service does not ban us from the beach forever, we may see it again someday I pray.

  • Great video from the 60's. Spent 17 summers on these beaches with my family while camping at Buxton Campground..back then, no hot water or electricity in the camp. We caught more flounder and blues from the beach with lite tacke than I could even begin to guess...loved watching this; many great memories. The outer banks have changed a lot; the fishing isn't what it used to be for sure but still beautiful...nice post!
