lol ive kept my xbox vertical in my musky basement on a carpet and stil havent ever had a problem, its been like that for 3 years and not planning on changing it
that's the same amount of space i have from the wall in my media center underneath i have some dvd cases so it has room up and from front to back been good to go since i have had it except a new drive and that's always a given no problems same with my 07 ps3 60gb
@BeardedHoplite it doesnt. it just so if the power goes out and u have it plugged in the wall u will get rrod. if plugged into a surge protector u wont
dude i found out a new thing i went to build a bear with my niece for her 6th birthday use the box u get from there and put your xbox on it there is like a window and a door on the box so it keeps it cool and put a ground fan there thay are way bigger and they can push all the hot air out and cool air in but ground fans are loud but effective
thats why people are gettin problems by standing it Vertically, if you stand the XBOX Horizontally then the disc wont fall out and keeps the side vents breathin air in and out
Get the XBOX ELITE, its much better, HD Player included
@cod5fan12 yeah it is for nerds that got nothing better to do i made a comment on a 360 vid saying that i wish the xbox had blue ray like the ps3 and i got so much hate for that
when we bought our house. there was already a refridgerator with the house and it was an old one so we got a new one and i took the old one put it in the basement and made the basement a cool place to chill so i drilled holes in the freezer put my 360 in there and then ran up the wires. ive had my 360 for 2 years now and ive never shut it off! NEVER! ITS RUNNING RIGHT NOW. NON STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE ONLY LOST POWER TWICE AND WE HAVE A GENERATOR!!!!!!!!!!
the xbox 360s made after 2009 were recalled. the newer ones do not have the red ring of death make sure to not get tht ring to buy ur xbox new not refurbished. ur poor if u get a used one. and slightly gay hahaha
the disc tray made so that u can put the disc in vertical and not be scratched, also vertical is better. there is less surface area touching a hard surface. plus the fans are in the back so the back is all u need to worry about. and the big brick thing is called a power supply. and plugging it into a wall would be better than using a strip because u plug multiple things into a power strip. it can be bad if u over load an outlet. less things in one outlet is better than more things in an outlet!
putting the console in a vertical position almost completely blocks a major vent thats located on the bottom of the console (assuming that it was standing up). The big brick thing isn't rly a power supply...more like a transformer (the xbox doesnt need 120V...rather it only needs 100V...the rest is sent back to the brick and is recycled...). And finally, plugging your xbox into a power strip is better for it. Most strips today have a surge protector in them, so it would be better than the wall
idunno, the bottom doesnt "suck in" most of the air. the air is ventilated through the sides were its susposed to go. jeez? it is actually reccomended that you stand it up.
ok i asked microsoft and told me that the intercooles ceap your xbox cool and not hot i have a nyko intercooler ts and it works really good so go git it !!!!!
Ok. yo cant place the Xbox 360 on the horizontal position, this will block the 2 cooling vents on the side, this will cause the RRoD. The bottom is not necessarily a vent, its a accessory on the xbox, and lots people get fooled by the bottom attachment. And another thing is, if you have $25.00 you can go to gamestop and buy the Nyko Intercooler TS, this intercooler uses it's own power supply so theres no worry in it.
No it doesnt, if your xbox would heat up without the intercooler, it wouldn't burn the back of the xbox, it BLOWS HOT AIR OUT, no keep it in there long enough, and the hot air that blows out of the xbox is not hot enough to melt plastic. and you didnt state 5 reasons why.
you are and idiot you hae it plugged straight to wall so it doesnt have to share power with anything so it gets the exact amount of power going through it that its supposed to have having it in a splitter will give u rrod because its not the correct amount of power.
keep it on a cake cooling rack (on its side i prefer) to allow circulation, out in the open not in a media center thing, and the side grills dont really do anything, DONT hook any fans into the usb ports or use any form of external fans at all, and if your willing to open it do the 12v mod and stay away from marketng genius's talismoons, theyre less powerful than standard
you are supposed to plug the 360 into a wall outlet not a power strip because the 360 needs Alot of power and it works evn harder in a power strip which makes it overheat quicker
Another thing you can do is put your xbox on a BOX yes it sounds weird and stupid but it works trust me . But make sure the box is empty . I had one red ring of death and on of my friends still has one of the first original xbox when they first came out he always put it on a box never had any problems just make sure all the vents aren't blocked and dont play for 8 hours straight take a half an hour break .
If i put a fan to the right side of the console, will it keep it from overheating as much, because i am deciding to put a mini fan to the right side. But my friend said that it isn't a good idea.
its a stupd idea, the grills are too tightly closed up
do a 12v mod with a fan speed controller and keep your xbox on a cake cooling tray and stay away from talismoonf ans theyre stupid marketing and dont do a shroud mod (except the divider bit at the back with a bent bit of card (so 1 fan is all cpu, other is all gpu) then your sorted
hey man.. im very confused now... one vid it said do not put ur 360 in a surge protector... now ur using it... so far ive seen 2 vids that say use a surge protector...
well i have done a lot of things to prevent overheating. i had a box fan i had it on a rack and i had an air conditioner on in the room and it overheats like crazy. i have tried it horizantal and vertical and they both make it over heat. i have a nyko intercooler on it and im starting to get annoyed with it. any ideas about how to fix it. oh and my i add that my ps3 has had absolutly no problems with about freezing or overheating.
easy way to keep it from over heating is STOP PLAYING SO MUCH! ive had my xbox for 2 years never over heated but i never play for more than like 3 hours staight. lol
the 360 only scratches ur games vertical if u knock it over. I've jad my 360 vertical since November 3, 2008 and i have not gotten any probs. also don't put ur 360 horizontal in a hot place cuz then it will suck in the hot air. and u should get the nyko intercooler ts not ex. the ts runs on its own power and keeps the 360 cooler than tha ex
haha... you wouldn't want to knock over the stool.... Mr health and safety my ass.... I recon that risk of knocking over the stool is alot higher than the risk of it overheating....
Actually my 360 was there just for the video, considering that there was no other place to put it, i have since stopped putting it there on the exception of a few other vids...
thats fair enuf.... i heard that u can buy an external fan made by microsoft that you plug into the back of the xbox... is that true.... and if ya, how much does it cost
dang microsoft and their penis-like qualities. dude a lot of this is not necessary. just buy a whisper fan and close all air passageways that dont need air on the inside.
One thing, DO NOT plug your 360 into a surge protector. The power supply comes with one built in, and plugging it into one can cause RROD because of voltage issues. Just a friendly tip.
Would an open window on a mildly cold day work as a sub for a fan? Also, my power brick is in the middle of wire hell.. is that bad? Both parts of the xbox are away from any walls or large objects.
actually if u have it vertically its better dumb ass cause less of the console is on the ground and my opinion with any fucking console you shouldnt have to worry about these problems at all oh ya how would plugging your 360 in the wall make it have the red ring whatever?
i put my console, horizontal,on wood,in a non dusty place(as mutch as possible),with about 20 cm of the wall, and on the sides it has about a meter of place and the hot air escapes from behind the tv. i keep the brick upsidedown(cools better) in an open place. and it works fine for me.(sorry for my bad english i speak dutch.
These are very good tips for keeping your 360 cool, but the rrod is not to do with overheating, It's just a fucking manufacturers fault. Just got mine replaced by them couple of weeks ago under 3 year warranty.
dude everything you just said right now i was doing the exact opossite i had it up ,i kept it close to a wall i had the brick thingy all tangled up wow dude thanks so much for the tips

haha... you wouldn't want to knock over the stool.... Mr health and safety my ass.... I recon that risk of knocking over the stool is alot higher than the risk of it overheating....
davidmoloney1994 2 years ago
Actually my 360 was there just for the video, considering that there was no other place to put it, i have since stopped putting it there on the exception of a few other vids...

You forgot to add that you can get the RROD by sitting your Xbox on a tall stool.
You have no clue what you are talking about. lol
canyonnehastings 2 years ago
dang microsoft and their penis-like qualities. dude a lot of this is not necessary. just buy a whisper fan and close all air passageways that dont need air on the inside.

WhiteDust56 2 years ago
uhh why would they put the rubber stands or w/e on the bottom where the air is sucked up if its not meant to be stood up like that...?

its so the tech guys(or you) know where to open the console from if you need to repair it or something

One thing, DO NOT plug your 360 into a surge protector. The power supply comes with one built in, and plugging it into one can cause RROD because of voltage issues. Just a friendly tip.

all of this is just common sense
robertg1990 2 years ago
That is how it almost always works out to be. Some people just lack that sort of thing and need for someone to show them though.

Would an open window on a mildly cold day work as a sub for a fan? Also, my power brick is in the middle of wire hell.. is that bad? Both parts of the xbox are away from any walls or large objects.
halofreak472 2 years ago
Dont put it near the window unless its always dark becuz the sun will heat it up alot and poop "Red ring" :{
AntiHer0s 2 years ago
You actully are supposed to plug it into the wall, not into a power strip.
Tehl33tcorpse 2 years ago
one tip i have is just put in the window it works
clerler 2 years ago
wow...talk about babying your xbox... cut off the ambilical cord dumbshit i think it will survive without all that safety crap
berriesncreme51 2 years ago
actually if u have it vertically its better dumb ass cause less of the console is on the ground and my opinion with any fucking console you shouldnt have to worry about these problems at all oh ya how would plugging your 360 in the wall make it have the red ring whatever?
crakerballin 2 years ago
yea cept th fan is on the bottom and it can get any cool air into it if its suckin the floor now can it get ur head outta ur ass haha
xX53preble53Xx 2 years ago
well as much as that's helpful the 360 is not for cooling.
MCSpidah 2 years ago
awsome vid keep it up. plus dont you wish there was a gears of war limited edition? that wuld be so cool
innersancthum 2 years ago
i put my console, horizontal,on wood,in a non dusty place(as mutch as possible),with about 20 cm of the wall, and on the sides it has about a meter of place and the hot air escapes from behind the tv. i keep the brick upsidedown(cools better) in an open place. and it works fine for me.(sorry for my bad english i speak dutch.
chrizmeister1992 2 years ago
These are very good tips for keeping your 360 cool, but the rrod is not to do with overheating, It's just a fucking manufacturers fault. Just got mine replaced by them couple of weeks ago under 3 year warranty.
