  • This is the BEST movie EVER!

  • What's the name of the piano-number in 0:06 ? <3

  • Didnt even know this is a movie.

Looking for a video about SCHOOL.

Yes you need to get an education. To learn to communicate with others, record, count, and so on. Extend knowledge. Not hard to figure out.

I stepped it up in a certain field. I like this field, ALOT. Because it RUNs your SOCIETY.

I think its hilarious when people talk about get a good education hahaha. Then you have rappers like Eminem talking about it and rapping about it in "REVELATIONS". Kinda sad or is this a game?

  • I love this film! It's just perfect.

  • I saw this movie in the right moment when i was 17!! I think every single girl that have tha age should saw it !!! I mean is amazing :D!

  • @02karen93 wow lol

  • I don't think this movie is trying to tell girls to do 1 thing or the other, it's simply telling the story of one girl who flip-flopped between two extremes and didn't let the backlash catch up with her intill it was too late to cushion the blow.

Excellently acted, beautifully pieced together and very moving.

  • @GenocideOnToast well said!

  • great movie thanks for the uploads

  • such a beautiful movie, i totally fell in love with Carey Mulligan after it!

  • At 0:33 at the bottom of the classroom, she looks like Anne Frank

  • It's like I watch pedo movie O.o

  • @VikramTheVicked mene te na lagta annoying

    don't watch it then

  • Lol pedoaments.

  • it surprised me greatly just how much I loved this fiolm... truly beautiful and honest.

  • This movie does not deserve the amount of spam comments it has. It's a brilliant movie!

  • i feel a little bit scared after watch this.scared because i wonder if i can fall to that wrong decision oh god :O

  • How the hell Carey Mulligan looks so much like Ginnifer Goodwin? =)

  • Weird how the trailer always motivates me through my latin homework! :p

  • I love this movie,. the new 'Lolita'!

  • Is weird that jenny was a francophile, most british dislike the french, also dislike spaniards

  • That dude was in orphan

  • Just watched, and i must say its rly great film. One of those u want to watch next episode just after u leave cinema. Realy nice piece of work. I am seeing this again at fillmsi.co.cc, definitly.

  • Girls... A diploma is your first husband. Stay in school. The girls who trusted their boyfriend blindly are now pregnant/had a baby already or are working in the local supermarket.

  • @misswhyaname YES

  • If you go to Paris you'll certainly have fun but how are you supposed to pay the trip when you don't have a job... So maybe going to Oxford if you're so good is not a very big waste of time. On the contrary, I think it's smarter to choose to follow somethign that will lead you somewhere in life instead of letting an old womanizer drive you mad. How immature is that? Gosh I thought you were intelligent, Jenny ;)

  • If im a single guy and watch this alone by myself will i be classified as gay?

  • @LoneSomeSong no.... i mean yes,,, i mean maybe. i mean idk, i mean no.

  • @LoneSomeSong is not a gay movie at all,if you like dramas you may like it

  • @LoneSomeSong lol

  • @LoneSomeSong I will say that you have a great taste and you are smart. If liking this movie makes you gay, I am gay too.

  • Whats the name of the song at the beginning?

  • I feel old. But not very wise. -Carey Mulligan An Education.

  • But I want to go to Paris and have FUN! :(

  • @jhsakanakha AN EDUCATION!

  • I don't really know why did this movie make such an impression on me. It's quite weird, and maybe unrealistic but so...I don't know, good and instructive. I loved the movie.

  • You have grabbed my attention and I am curious about what comes next.

  • So strange... even "clips" bring me to tears... this film is so powerful and so moving... how can it NOT evoke such an emotional response... this is one of my favorite movies on filmsi.co.cc... so deep.... so meaningful.... I'm a guy and it made me cry even the 5'th time i watched it .... amazing and yes... very under-rated!

  • Just a bunch of rich snobby Oxford-educated chumps. Nothing here - Move on

  • I love Peter's face at 0:32 (:

  • this movie is just trying to warn all the young girls out there to put education before guys. Knowledge stays with you forever, guys come and go. BEAUTY IS NOTHING WITHOUT BRAINS, LADIES.

  • @09FYOU See my other comment.

  • this movie was boring IMO... A friend recommended this movie and the whole time I was waiting for something exciting to happen. All that happened in this movie was that some dirty middle aged seduced his way into a high school girls pants. Nothing interesting at all, very mundane movie...

  • 0:22 looks just like colin firth

  • where can I download this ?

  • graceless dementor, maybe you've forgotten that it's a teenager we're dealing with here. they can sometimes be far more capricious than would seem believable. happens all the time around here...

  • 23 people didn't receive an education.

    Lovely movie.

  • Seen this on the BBC. Great movie. Carey Mulligan was perfect in it.

  • i wish i could recieve this kind of education...

  • @sophialovesfashion

I would never wish to anybody this kind of education.

I got it. It rally hurts. Especially if you're in Jenny's position. I was.

  • @Siguldian I get that the whole relationship side of it must be painful but I love art and would love to experience it as Jenny did

  • @Flowerman625144 .... uh..... what ? taps into my.... making me think if.... makes me feel the movie then I won't like what ???

  • I loved this movie sooo much :) The message really was that if you want to get ahead in life, there really are no shortcuts. You have to get a good education, and you shouldn't try to grow up too fast. The casting people did a brilliant thing in the casting called "playing against the type". They cast Rosamund Pike as Helen, the dumb blonde, but in real life, she is the person that Jenny wants to be: classically trained cellist, fluent in French, and read English at Oxford.

  • This movie was 100 minutes of fucknothing happening. It seemed like there was going to be a point, perhaps a critique on the education system, but then at the end it threw all that away. The acting was good, the characters were well done, but there simply wasn't a point to this film good enough to warrant watching it.

  • @fidgetingfinch i totally agree, i initially thought this movie was about the importance of having connections when applying to top universities and thus criticizing the rampant elitism in higher education, it ends up being a movie about a pedophille being a complete douchebag, with no relevance to social elitism whatsoever.

  • @CyrusTheElder agreed - however the idea that studying is boring followed by a career which is boring/and or disappointing (as she pointed out to all her teachers).Still she had her fun in life and then went back to her books - I'm not sure what has been learnt from this film.I was hoping for isn't-life-ultimately-pointless existentialism - as was seen in the superb film American beauty.

  • @fidgetingfinch agreed - I have just watched this film - I was hoping for some great twist at the end - instead a bit of a let down.Still as you say the acting was superb.

  • love this! is there any films similar?

  • Comment removed

  • Let's all go to Paris and have fun!

  • I was let down by this film. I felt like Jenny, who was described as intelligent was rather idiotic throughout the film.

She spent one night in Paris and sudden;y wanted to drop her education because she figured that if she got an education she never be able to go anywhere, which is stupid. She also trusted a guy twice her age who said, "Hey, so do you want to get in my car" who steals painting as a job. Real smart there Jenny.

  • @GracelessDementor note how that guy her age was simply brished aside in favour of the rich but crroked guy in the smart car. This is VERY true to life - and as always in such circumstances women are shown to be shallow, selfish money grabbers.

  • @revol148 Um ... not all women are selfish money grabbers. Just saying.

  • @GracelessDementor depends on the class I suppose: maybe not with lower or upper class girls but when it comes to the middle classes (from my experience) girls are indeed out to get as much as they can get and to hell with the emotional cost.If say a boyfriend can be trading in for a better model then way to go.Of course the prettier the girl the more she is "worth" such a comodity market.I have also found that the not-so great looking girls are usually the most interesting - weird eh?

  • @GracelessDementor

I think you are forgetting she was only 16

  • @anetka897 Well I'm sixteen and I would never in a million years give up my education for such a silly reason. I saw this film when I was fifteen and I still thought Jenny was lacking in common sense. Her age was no excuse expecially when she was described as being really intelligent.

  • @GracelessDementor I I were your age I would look abroad for post-18 education rather than pay the planned £9,000 a year fees.Believe you me in the coming decade foreign universities will undercut British ones - already Holland and Belgium are offering (english language) degrees at a fraction of the £27,000 for a 3 year course.I did a pointless degree back in the late -1990's there is NO way I would have paid a penny for it (although glad for the 3 years out of the job market of course).

  • @GracelessDementor

If you really are 16, then you need to chill out. Life is not just about books, there must be time and space to be silly and make mistakes :) be street smart and the world is yours

ps. love can make a fool of the wisest person :)

  • @GracelessDementor You have to realise this film was set in the late 50s/early 60s. it was a very different time. education was not so important for women. the reason any woman would want a university education is to become rich, but jenny realised that, in marrying david, it was simply a "short cut" to the rich and glamorous life style she'd always wanted.

  • @GracelessDementor This is in fact a very true irony of life.

  • @GracelessDementor I totally agree! She also smokes and is simply stupid! BUT certain scientists said that being clever and being intelligent is not the same! The first one means to be rational while the second one means you can solve things... Puzzles and tasks difficult for an average person. My opinion is that the movie tried to portray that Jenny was a girl under a lot of pressure by her parents but she decided to try something totally irrational.

  • @GracelessDementor I agree to an extent, but I think what they were trying to stress in the film was that although Jenny was indeed a very intelligent girl, she was also very innocent, very naive, and very desperate to escape the banal, mundane existance she was living

  • @GracelessDementor thanks for the spoilers dickhead

  • @ekmad Thanks for the lovely comment, asshole.

  • @GracelessDementor Thanks, for ignoring my complaint knob jockey.

  • @ekmad Thanks for being completely ignorant and rude. Also I'll have you know that I didn't spoil anything. Everything that I said is pretty much established in the first few scenes of the film or established in the trailer. I didn't tell you about the twist in the end, how her education turns out or how all the characters were resolved. So calm the fuck down and live your life.

  • @GracelessDementor

One can be intelligent without being wise, especially if one is young.

    ***SPOILERS***

Besides she didn't want to drop out of school initially after David's proposal. She was hesitant until her parents told her to get married. And her assessment of female professional careers following university was correct at that time; she couldn't have known how dramatically things would change in her lifetime.

  • @GracelessDementor usually people who get good grades in those types of schools etc... they might be just like jenny, trust me. i have friends who seem so innocent, have perfect grades... but if u hand them a cigarette they would smile and take it and just sleep with girls even. lol...

  • @GracelessDementor Understandable. But being smart and being wise is different. She was a kid charmed by a man who showed her the world. From the point of view of a 16-year-old such as herself, who has had no experience in life aside from what she has learned from books and school, it IS rather attracting.

  • @GracelessDementor she was intelligent, not clever

  • @GracelessDementor No she wasn't. She was a sixteen year old girl who was blinded by the promise of a new exciting life unlike the ones led by any of the class bound individuals she knew before David came into her life

  • @GracelessDementor You have to realize that this is a different time. It wasn't uncommon for girls to drop out of school once they'd found an older man who could take care of them. That's why it was accepted by her parents and her classmates. It was her teachers who understood the importance of a degree that were disappointed in her and Jenny herself knew that she could be someone but she was distracted by someone who seemed so wonderful.

  • @GracelessDementor You have to remember that this film is set in the 60s when things were very different. university education wasn't so common especially for women. Jenny had to make the choice of either working very hard, studying at university, becoming a teacher and earning her own money - or, take a "short cut" and marry David and be rich straight away and have the glamorous lifestyle she's always wanted.

  • Why the jews are always the suckers in all time movies?

  • Jenny said : "its funny, all that poetry and all those songs for something doesn't last anytime at all" (she meant sex). that means she never tasted love and what love means

  • We watched the film in class with my students, and even though they thought it was going to be a boring, girlish film, they quite loved it in the end! I recommend it to other teachers!

  • At 0:18 is my neighbour's house. This was filmed on my street, no jokes.

  • That was not only a story about the decisions. More...

  • This was every bit as splendid as I had heard.

  • Nobody in this film are bad. Watching it made me feel so comfortable and more rely on my way. Love that!

  • synopsis: young cunt gets fucked by rich old cunt around dumb cunts

  • great movie :)

  • 0:50 - 0:55

    GOD SHE IS SO DUMB

  • I've seen this movie more than most people will ever see it but it blew me away that this little girl was able to remain standing after being raked over the coals by such a conman.

At least she got a few good dinners out of the bastard.

  • i laughed cried and sweat at the same time during? this movie, a very rare event. this movie rocked, specialy if you seee it onn malifilmici.co.cc!!!

  • fuck wrong movie

  • i still cannot belive fred durst directed this movie he needs to stop making that lame limp bizkit shit and focus on movies, he is a damn good director.

  • @Jesuslovesyou938 umm I think you got your facts totally wrong. This movie was made by Lone Sherfig based on a novel. Hahaha not Fred Durst.

  • @Jesuslovesyou938 I think you'll find Fred Durst directed 'The Education of Charlie Banks' not 'An Education'.

  • masterpiece...just saw & the one thing i only regret for is that i lost it at cinema last year...God, that was A movie!

  • This movie is wonderful. second time around is just as intriguing as the first! Amazingly beautiful, great casting, Peter Saarsguard has become one of my favorites to watch. very enjoyable!

  • Contains blatantly anti Jewish rhetoric, labeling a lying, stealing, sexually predatory male as Jewish, and repeatedly emphasizing his religious identity. There are anti social individuals across the religions, yet the author and producers and actors in this production CHOSE to vilify Jews.

  • @KACHKAMACH Oh for heavens sake. It's hardly Passion of the sodding Christ. When the subject of Religious identity was raised it primarily emphasised biggoted perspectives of others (such as the Headmistress) during the time in which it was set. And don't forget this is a true story. The film was based on a BIOGRAPHY of a young Oxbridge candidate who fell in love with a much older Jewish man. That is the way it happened. So let's have no more of this nonesense.

  • @Marshmellowed Oxford*

  • @gary871 Oxbridge refers to both Oxford and Cambridge. As a candidate for Oxford she would have also been a candidate for Cambridge (though she favoured Oxford).

  • @gary871 I see, I presumed you were suggesting she were a candidate for a fictional university, my mistake.

  • after meeting her, peter sarsgaard thinks "im glad shes a nice girl instead of a psychotic orphan

  • Although this movie was so-so, I do have to admire it for its accurate portrayal of jews.

  • I was kinda confused when i saw this...So is it supposed to be based on a good story.. But at the and it was pretty good for me. I found it at kookíca.

  • i adore carey to bits

  • i adore carey to bits

  • Still night, black pond and then the ripping light of a lightening bolts shatters the silence and your eyes blink rapidly with the fading image. You can find it on kookicá. This is what this movie will do for you. You will sit, stunned and just. . .be a child and swear you just saw a fairy.

  • love is wonderful..certainly....but it is a mark of foolishness to throw away your life for it, unfortunetly there are many girls who make the same mistake as the character does..........

  • Amazing movie.

    Horrible trailer.

  • young girls should watch this instead of twilight stuff

  • @mortizmortiz different stuff is important. including twilight stuff.

  • @mortizmortiz and of course in those days girls were thin and didn't feel then need to say "like" in every sentence!

  • @mortizmortiz You shouldn't be preaching to young girls what they should enjoy.

  • come one though, its not like she fought it

  • She turned 17 when they had sex.. so..

  • "Someone told me that in about 50 years no one will speak Latin probably... Not even Latin people."

    I love this.

  • good
