I hate the fact that Australians get no credit for helping in the war. When ever you see a war documentary it's America, when ever you see a war movie it's AMERICA. I'm afraid some of this footage isn't Normandy some is taken from the Pacific and the 'Island hopping' also some is from the Invasion of Sicily - but most of of it is real and from Normandy 1944 - sorry to be such a geek!

Germany could win the war with their tanks... but the Americans had created a lot of cheap M4s... the Allies had created 250k tanks that 40k of them were Russian T-34s :P and the Germans only created something like 50k tanks... they were heavily armoredNshit but only something like 20% of the German tanks were destroyed by other Allied tanks and the other 80% were destroyed by fucking tech difficulties and that screwed the Germans(knowing that out of 50k tanks only maybe 15 were useful)

He was implemented in the July plot to kill Hitler and was forced into suicide in exchange for the safety of his family. D day was overcast, there is too much sun and blue sky in some clips for all to be authentic in my mind. I cant believe many germans went running for the cameras at the sight of the biggest ever seabourne armada confronting them. The sea was rougher than some of those beach landing scenes ( look at the sea in the background at 29 secs which is one of the few well known clips) . Not doubting though these scenes were all 1944 era.
@ground2air So how do you think Americans filmed combat? They, like us, had specific individuals whose only purpose in the field is to record it for generations of analyzation of combat and military-related studies. There are specific MOS's in the US military entitled "Videograhper", whose purpose is to video record combat.
Also, it wasn't rough/dramatic sea tides along the entire coastal approach on the June 6th D-Day.. We covered several hundred miles of beach head, it wasn't all bad weather.
My comments relate mostly to the german footage - clear blue sky on D-day? The beach head from W. Utah to E.Sword was 70 miles max. so where do you get several hundred miles of beach head?
If you understand synoptic charts check out the forecast from D-Day, overcast windy etc. it was a borderline decision for Ike. Many of the DD Sherman's were lost due to rough seas. Unless you mean the footage is from the D-day 'era', i still dispute much of this footage is from the actual 6th June '44

@ground2air Yeah I agree this was the first thing that struck me, that it couldn't be authentic D-Day footage. I think some of the earlier footage of the Americans must be the landings in North Africa or Sicily. Also if you look at the footage at about 1:45/1:46 you'll see a Panzer Mark I. Anyway if this is from the Battlefront series I'm not surprised. The footage in that show never seems to correspond to the time frame it's meant to be in.

@usogirl1 A pleasant response, its rare on You Tube! But if you want to check the validity of my claims about the video just watch it again and pick up on certain points. Some of the footage is from D-Day like at 0:30 but lots of it is inaccurate. Look at 0:35/0:36, they look like palm trees! And at 0:55, Rommel wasn't in Normandy at the time of the invasion he was on leave because no-one thought a landing was possible due to the bad weather hence no blue skies! Panzer I at 1:46, this is 1944!

@truss601 Not entirely. The Nazi military chain of command was really confusing. Hitler never had enough trust in any of his generals while Roosevelt allowed total command to Bradley to get the job done. It was all less political than the Nazi command structure and thus more straightfoward and efficiant. If Hitler had let the military do its job wihout any interference, the D Day landings could have been stopped.
this is what i was talkin about with some other gentle men if you look at saving private ryan they make the D-Day beach look likes it's 50 yards but the real stuff it's more along the lines of 300-400 yards.
@clint131313 - You right. If you look at D-Day maps you'll see there were 5 beach areas attacked (Juno, Gold, Sword, Utah and Omaha) which altogether covered hundreds of acres. But the D-Day scene in Saving Private Ryan was actually correct. Some invasion points were wide open and some were fairly small. "Dog Green Sector" (represented in the movie) along with "Point Du Hoc" were both really small beaches.

Germany could win the war with their tanks... but the Americans had created a lot of cheap M4s... the Allies had created 250k tanks that 40k of them were Russian T-34s :P and the Germans only created something like 50k tanks... they were heavily armoredNshit but only something like 20% of the German tanks were destroyed by other Allied tanks and the other 80% were destroyed by fucking tech difficulties and that screwed the Germans(knowing that out of 50k tanks only maybe 15 were useful)

@MrBean1911 indeed SOME of the later german tanks, especially the tiger II, ferdinand and tiger I (toothing problems on this one, but it remained somewhat unreliable throughout the war) had some serious design flaws because of their massive weight. but your numbers are totally fictional. 80% of the overall german tank output lost because of breakdown? hilarious and utterly wrong. most of the tiger IIs were burnt by their crews after running out of fuel or breakdown, not the whole tank detachment

@bigvuch Nah man Rommel was alive for D-Day alright. He died in October 1944, he committed suicide! He was implemented in the July plot to kill Hitler and was forced into suicide in exchange for the safety of his family. The Nazis were only too willing to let Rommel commit suicide owing of course to his popular public image. The whole affair was covered up and Rommel was even given a state funeral, with the public being told he died while serving the Fatherland.

But the sad thing is, is that the men who faught for th Allies unknowingly faught for International Jewry, and basically were fighting for multiculturalism, which is the end of our European/American white culture and civilization. D day was overcast, there is too much sun and blue sky in some clips for all to be authentic in my mind. I cant believe many germans went running for the cameras at the sight of the biggest ever seabourne armada confronting them. The sea was rougher than some of those beach landing scenes ( look at the sea in the background at 29 secs which is one of the few well known clips) . Not doubting though these scenes were all 1944 era.

@ground2air So how do you think Americans filmed combat? They, like us, had specific individuals whose only purpose in the field is to record it for generations of analyzation of combat and military-related studies. There are specific MOS's in the US military entitled "Videograhper", whose purpose is to video record combat.
Also, it wasn't rough/dramatic sea tides along the entire coastal approach on the June 6th D-Day.. We covered several hundred miles of beach head, it wasn't all bad weather.

My comments relate mostly to the german footage - clear blue sky on D-day? The beach head from W. Utah to E.Sword was 70 miles max. so where do you get several hundred miles of beach head?
If you understand synoptic charts check out the forecast from D-Day, overcast windy etc. it was a borderline decision for Ike. Many of the DD Sherman's were lost due to rough seas. Unless you mean the footage is from the D-day 'era', i still dispute much of this footage is from the actual 6th June '44

@ground2air Yeah I agree this was the first thing that struck me, that it couldn't be authentic D-Day footage. I think some of the earlier footage of the Americans must be the landings in North Africa or Sicily. Also if you look at the footage at about 1:45/1:46 you'll see a Panzer Mark I. Anyway if this is from the Battlefront series I'm not surprised. The footage in that show never seems to correspond to the time frame it's meant to be in.

@usogirl1 A pleasant response, its rare on You Tube! But if you want to check the validity of my claims about the video just watch it again and pick up on certain points. Some of the footage is from D-Day like at 0:30 but lots of it is inaccurate. Look at 0:35/0:36, they look like palm trees! And at 0:55, Rommel wasn't in Normandy at the time of the invasion he was on leave because no-one thought a landing was possible due to the bad weather hence no blue skies! Panzer I at 1:46, this is 1944!

@truss601 Not entirely. The Nazi military chain of command was really confusing. Hitler never had enough trust in any of his generals while Roosevelt allowed total command to Bradley to get the job done. It was all less political than the Nazi command structure and thus more straightfoward and efficiant. If Hitler had let the military do its job wihout any interference, the D Day landings could have been stopped.

@clint131313 - You right. If you look at D-Day maps you'll see there were 5 beach areas attacked (Juno, Gold, Sword, Utah and Omaha) which altogether covered hundreds of acres. But the D-Day scene in Saving Private Ryan was actually correct. Some invasion points were wide open and some were fairly small. "Dog Green Sector" (represented in the movie) along with "Point Du Hoc" were both really small beaches.
