Česká republika by byla 10x lepší bez těch hnusnejch cikánů, kteří nám dělají akorát tak ostudu. Vsadil bych se, že 40% z nich (možná i víc) neznají slova státní hymny, což by se dalo považovat na nevlastenectví.

The Eastern 1/2 is called Moravia and it was a non-kingdom province. BTW the word "Bohemia" is linked to the "Baias home", the home of a Celtic tribe of Boyos who lived here millennia ago. The same root "Bay" also gave name to Bayern (Bavaria).
@lumajs Bohemian is also term which was used for Gypsies in 19 century, because they thought, that they came from Bohemia, and today is used for uncovential or artistic people. So Bohemians!=Czechs :)

@domovoj01 I actually liked him, too. He could have become a much greater political star than he did but various decisions in his career made it impossible.
There's a lot of "Bier" that many Czechs drinks during the "Dienst" - after all, we have the greatest per-capita beer consumption in the world. ;-) But don't forget that the quality beer was brought here from Germany. Most famously, in my hometown of Pilsen, they brewed a bad beer until they teamed up and hired a Bavarian maltster in 1842.

Nearly 20 years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Plzen - it was a great experience to have a beer at the brewery, and for sure your home town must have changed a lot during that time. It would be great to see it again now! My favorite beers, however, are Krusovice (blond) and Staropramen... ;-)

Right now, I am drinking Radegast Klasik but on Monday, we had some German beer in cans which looked fancy but was cheap. ;-) You must visit Pilsen again - it was dirty, ugly 20 years ago but now is relatively pretty. It was also chosen the EU capital of culture for the year 2015.

@lumajs Indeed, Czech is a beautiful but also very difficult language - once I used to know a Czech sentence with only consonants in it, but I don't remember it any more... But your're right, "domovoj" is a Russian word which refers to the creature in folk mythology who cares about the house (dom).
@domovoj01 Dear domovoj, was the sentence "strč prst skrz krk", i.e. "push your finger through your throat"? It's mostly a myth that Czech has too many words without enough vowels. The reason is that "L" and "R" often play the role of full-fledged vowels - note that you can prolong them as much as you want, just like vowels. When this fact is properly appreciated, Czech actually has many more vowels inserted much more rhythmically.
@lumajs This sentence was just the one I was looking for, but it was never explained to me in such a profound way - are you a linguist? And no, I am not Russian, but I had to study the language for various reasons (beginning from my childhood during GDR-times). To my personal opinion, Russian people are all right (more or less), but the country and its government are not worth to be mentioned... ;-)

@Antarktida1337 Tak to si tedy polepšíš. Ne, nechci ti brát iluze, určitě je tam lépe, ale mají stejné problémy a život tam taky není procházka sadem. Jen ty problémy umí řešit efektivněji. A taky bacha, tady se aspoň cítíš doma mezi svými, tam nejspíš nikdy tento pocit nenabudeš.

@lumajs Dobrého dne, Poláci jsou velcí přátelé a řekněme navíc i bratranci, a mají stejně jako my více protiněmeckou a protinacistickou minulost, ale bratři pro mě budou tehdy, až budu rozumět, co říkají - teď rozumím tak 50 procent. Moje hlavní setkávání s polštinou je přes variace Jožina z bažina (viz můj kanál, který má i pár polských kousků) a přes Ewu Farnou haha.

Before the Munich Agreement, we were a strong country, then they ruined us. But we got rid of the communists, we have big history, although we have some economical problems and outrageous people in government and justice.

@tagundnachtwechsel Hi, Bohemia is the Western 1/2 of the Czech Republic, the land that used to be the "Czech Kingdom" for centuries (which includes Prague, Pilsen etc.). The Eastern 1/2 is called Moravia and it was a non-kingdom province. BTW the word "Bohemia" is linked to the "Baias home", the home of a Celtic tribe of Boyos who lived here millennia ago. The same root "Bay" also gave name to Bayern (Bavaria).

@domovoj01 I actually liked him, too. He could have become a much greater political star than he did but various decisions in his career made it impossible.
There's a lot of "Bier" that many Czechs drinks during the "Dienst" - after all, we have the greatest per-capita beer consumption in the world. ;-) But don't forget that the quality beer was brought here from Germany. Most famously, in my hometown of Pilsen, they brewed a bad beer until they teamed up and hired a Bavarian maltster in 1842.

Nearly 20 years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Plzen - it was a great experience to have a beer at the brewery, and for sure your home town must have changed a lot during that time. It would be great to see it again now! My favorite beers, however, are Krusovice (blond) and Staropramen... ;-)

@domovoj01 Dear Domovoj, thanks for your reply. Funnily enough, we're equally old and your nick contains "domov" which is "home" in Czech. For example, this very anthem is called "Kde domov můj" or "Where is my home".
Right now, I am drinking Radegast Klasik but on Monday, we had some German beer in cans which looked fancy but was cheap. ;-) You must visit Pilsen again - it was dirty, ugly 20 years ago but now is relatively pretty. It was also chosen the EU capital of culture for the year 2015.

@lumajs Indeed, Czech is a beautiful but also very difficult language - once I used to know a Czech sentence with only consonants in it, but I don't remember it any more... But your're right, "domovoj" is a Russian word which refers to the creature in folk mythology who cares about the house (dom).

@domovoj01 Dear domovoj, was the sentence "strč prst skrz krk", i.e. "push your finger through your throat"? It's mostly a myth that Czech has too many words without enough vowels. The reason is that "L" and "R" often play the role of full-fledged vowels - note that you can prolong them as much as you want, just like vowels. When this fact is properly appreciated, Czech actually has many more vowels inserted much more rhythmically.

And no, I am not Russian, but I had to study the language for various reasons (beginning from my childhood during GDR-times). To my personal opinion, Russian people are all right (more or less), but the country and its government are not worth to be mentioned... ;-)

To make things even more friendly for you, the street surrounding my concrete block in Pilsen is full of sakura trees :-) On Google Images, try to search for Sakura Stromy to see exactly the same trees surrounded by nice Japanese and/or usually painful Czech socialist architecture. :-)

It has become standard for people to look at things independently, from various angles, and to insist on their values rather than trying to detect the slightest wind of the popular opinion and to align oneself with it. ;-)
