That other Mustang is a 1994-1998 Cobra and they were infinitely better than the Mustang GTs of the time, especially the 1996-1998 models with the Modular 4v 4.6L.

I would also wager the worst Mustang ever built would have been the second generation ones and the Mustang GTs from 1994-1998.

@thetravdawg The other mustang was a 99-04 new edge. Pause at 55 seconds. Look at the headlights, the 94-98 were more rounded at the corner lights, the side scoops are of the 99-04, and the wheel wells on the rear tires are angled out like the 99-04 as opposed to the smooth slope the 94-98 had. Being an owner of a 98 and 03, I thought I'd clear it up as to what year stang the shelby was racing.

You're right, I missed the rear fender flares and the rear bumper. Definitely a '01 or '03-'04 (since there was no SVT Cobra sold in the U.S. '00 or '02), wouldn't be a 1999 because they have "mustang" on the bumper instead of "cobra" that the '01 and '03-'04 have.

The Shelby didn't miss a gear, it just got beat. It was a FULL SECOND behind and had a 10mph slower trap speed. The other Mustang Cobra was just a built one.

everybody is shocked that the gt500 lost but it was racing a modified 03-04 mustand cobra which is very simular the gt500. it has the same setup with a supercharged 4 valve but its only 4.6 compared to a 5.4 gt500.still had 390 claimed hp but it was more like 420hp. this 03-04 cobra was modified,probaly with a blower upgrade from kenne bell or whipple and is capable of fast times.this is the car that paved the way for the gt500 and is no joke just ask any camaro ss & trans am owner.

Shelby is a standalone company that makes it's own version of mustangs. They used to just build racecars.

an example, SVT is Fords performance department, so an SVT Cobra is still a Ford Mustang. but a Shelby Cobra is a Shelby Mustang
