I just have to say as an agnostic person. I believe the idea of religion is ridiculous. That we can quantify the whole of creation as simply a device design for human souls to live. It is incredibly selfish of us to believe that all of everything we see and learn was made just for us and that no other thing matters but ourselves.

Everyone always gets so defensive when their beliefs are called into question. What's wrong with having an open mind to others for a change.

I see what you're saying. The NDE stuff IS interesting. But what I'm saying is that the concept of eternal damnation isn't in the Bible as it's currently translated. Hell is man-made, the wet-dream of the paranoia-peddling sacerdotal classes. I'm saying Hell sounds more like a creation of power-whores, and not something an infinitely loving and wise being would have much interest in. Why would He punish his creations? He is responsible for their sinning in the first place!

Check this website out: tentmaker. Hell is getting a bit passe, apparently. It doesn't seem logical that an infinitely loving God would burn his children forever, anyhow. And the "forever" part is becoming similarly unpopular among scholars: tentmaker's article "Hell is Leaving the Bible Forever is interesting. (And written by a Christian.)

After the first writings it has been edited many times. Still you think bible is 100% word of God? Hes a fallen angel. Lucifer was created by God as a perfect angel. He was called Lucifer while he lived in heaven. After he sinned and persistently refused to repent he was thrown out of heaven. When Lucifer was cast out of heaven he lost his name Lucifer and he became known as Satan.

@recklesss09 The fact is that he knows more about the Bible than you, or you wouldn't be so confused by his statements. Most Christian leaders know that the Bible is absolutely filled with discrepancies, that is why they have no moral qualms against "picking-and-choosing" or "interpreting" however they want as it fits their adgenda. Read some textbooks by Bart Ehrman (leading New Testament scholar) and you'll learn what most preachers know...but never tell their tithers! Peace!

Religion is about liberation, not control. This sounds paradoxical because there are rules, but the rules are more like the guiding principles in a manual. If you follow it, you achieve the use of that particular thing to its fullest potential. Now I do think its true that there are people who selfishly seek thier own power, and use religion to their own ends. But this is true in all human institutions, including secular ones. So I don't think you can make a blanket statement about religion.

I've believed this for many years, if not all my life.

Religion perhaps in it's early years, stood for something. Then fell to human greed and control. As a result, i've never considered myself religious in any way.

His views somewhat remind me of Pantheism. Which, in all honesty, is likely the most sane/logical/common sense outlook on any kind of "God" there may be.

Such a shame most religious folk arn't this honest -- Especially priests.
