Well actually, IIRC, in a Japanese game of tag, being "it" is actually being the "oni", or demon. Oni Link is "it" in a game of Japanese tag with (spoilers)

The name could also reference him as a Demon God, as everyone had a Termanian parallel. Oot: Skull Kid was good. MM: Skull Kid was evil. Koume and Kotaku or whatever; OoT: Evil MM: Good Maybe FD was the Termanian version of link, and instead of a hero he was a Demonic warrior king god- whatever-like Ganon. Explains him being sealed in a mask like Majora.

And He says that the mask will give him the Official "It" Title. So Sorta The Name "Oni Link" Means "It Link" And Deity Means "Royal Person" So Its Pretty Much Calling him "Royal Master".
