Im not against animals eat other animals, just that they put a little undefensive animal in a cage with a much bigger animals, who then eat it. Sounds cruel to me. Then why cant the fish be killed before it come in the water? Like in the zoo's.

@Quacko69 Some animals only eat live prey. Some snakes in the zoo are fed live rats because they'll only eat live prey. A lot of animals avoid dead prey due to an evolutionary advantage; id est, dead prey in the wild have a chance of being infected.

@Quacko69: The tank isn't small for a fish his size. If he gets up to a certain size, a larger tank can be used, or it can be returned to the pet store and resold to someone with a bigger tank.

The small fish do have a chance to get away, as they all weren't eating in every lunge.

Most fish are omnivorous, the fish food that you feed them tends to be made up of algae and other fish, that's why it smells like fish. So animals are being raised to be fed to other animals, the difference is that here you can breed your own fish so that they are not mistreated before being fed to the other fish.

@Quacko69 count: The fish fed tend to be a high fat content, so you should only feed them feeder fish some of the time, and it's best to raise your own so no diseases get into your tank.

Typically, insects are better to feed the fish. I doubt you would be this upset if I fed a worm to an large fish.
