@Spjungen My grandfather, who is now thankfully here with me and my mother iin the United States, served in the Bulgarian air force back in the day. We had the same shit aircraft as Russia had; it was all one big USSR centrally-made piece of shit defense industry.
And it hasn't changed much. The old Soviet war machine is rusty, ageing and out of date. And it's not gonna change anytime soon.

@normison69 Russia has about twice the population of the UK and roughly half the GDP. That doesn't qualify as a Super Power. Russia has a smaller economy and lower military expenditures than a number of European countries. So if Russia is a Super Power, there must be several in existence.

They are all in service and have much better dogfighting qualities than any US plane, Pasific Vision is the proof of it. This video is done in 90s or early 2000. Its whole diffrent game in Russian plane industry now, while USA just made huge cuts to its military budged, Russian budged keeps growing, its 5th or 4th largest in the world atm, and growing every year while US is knee deep in debt right now.
@normison69 Russia has worse debt than the USA. US's worst credit rating is AA+, the other 3 are AAA. Russia has only B range credit. Also, the USA easily spends more than Russia and China combined. So yes, the US defense budget maybe decreasing (due largely to the draw downs in Iraq and Afghanistan), but it still dwarf's Russia's.
@normison69 The bottom line is that American made fighter planes have a far superior record to Russia's. Several MiG-29s have been shot down by F-15s and F-16. No Russian plane has ever scored even a single kill on an F-15, which has been far surpassed by the F-22. You can talk all you want, but the ground is littered with the debris of destroyed Russian planes (and most of them were destroyed by American and other Western aircraft).

2 F15s have killed 5 Mig 29s. Mig 29s are not the best compared to the F15.

I saw both MiG 29 and F/A-18 fly in Kecskemet last year and I must say both jets are amazing. F/A-18 is much more maneuverable than I thought.
