Because you cannot just lift up a puck and toss it into the net. It's exactly like picking up a soccer ball and tossing it into the net. It is even illegal to kick the puck off your skate into the net so why should this goal be legal?

BECAUSE IT IS NOT HIGH STICKING. HOCKEY IS NOT RELATED TO SOCCER IN ANY FUCKING WAY, GET THAT OUT OF YOUR HEAD.

The only rule against that is high sticking.The rule is, if it's over the cross bar WHERE YOU TOUCH THE PUCK ON YOUR STICK, it's high sticking. Where he had the puck on his stick, was below the crossbar, making this trick shot completley LEGAL.

Huh, didn't know that a player could pick up the puck and basically carry it over the goal line. A lot of Minnesotans (myself included) believe that goal was cheap and bordered on illegality, but the refs said it was legal, and Michigan just happened to win that game. Be honest, though, should a goalie really expect something as weird as that to happen? Not like you'd have a lot of time to react anyway. I'd like to see someone in the NHL attempt something similar to this though, lol.
