People buy GSD's without understanding the breed they are "investing" their heart and souls into. They are dynamic and multi-dimensional. Ownership is not the term that should be used, it is a relationship that requires time and patience. The rewards are worth every effort. GSD are living beings not something that should be discarded when they become an inconvenience. A commitment is a commitment!!!!!!!!
Okay, skip the pet store and backyard breeder when looking for a dog. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO PEOPLE WHO DON'T CARE ABOUT THE DOGS THEY'RE SELLING. Contact the pound, breed rescue organizations and tell them what you want. Work with them, if you want a GSD bad enough, you'll get one.
And don't sell older dogs short, an adult dog is easier to gauge as far as temperment goes, probably already housebroken, requires less intensive care than a puppy, and can be TRAINED.
im from philippines.. i have a GSD.. i was surprise too see this video.. how can somebody leave a GSD in a shelter? to think of it, it is a blessing to own a GSD.. the breed is soo sweet and lovable.. to think of it , the GSD will be the first one to take a bullet for you..
I adopted my forst from Pepper at MSGSR. I now have 7 from sheleters. They are more loving than most people and intelligent as well. When is the last time you heard of a GSD murdering someone for a few bucks or his tennis shoes?
A little simplistic, but so true. They have taught me moe about compassion and love than I could have ever beleived four years ago after Hurricane Katrina when I lived on the Gulf Coast.

You're kidding, right? You want to buy a German Shepherd puppy? Do you get the point of this video? There are hundreds of wonderful German Shepherds dying in shelters every day--adopt one! There are puppies to adopt also.

Wow guess you missed the point of the video.
My dog was a foster and then after a few weeks I was allowed to adopt him.
They helped me with the cost of treatment with the vet.
Now I own someone who was set to be destroyed and love him everyday just for being him.
A neat fun guy with the ability to let me know can we go for a ride in the car.
Adopt or donate to a rescue group so they may continue to save and feed as many lonely dogs as possible.

You are a true moron for all people want a puppy.
I own a rescue dog he is sweet and such a blessing in my life.
It was the love of a german sheperd who helped me to rescue a dog.
He is the nicest and sweetest dog ever.
We go everywhere together and he never fails to stop traffic and I hear what a beautiful dog.
So please try to rescue a dog and save a life.
You might be surprised at what you get from a rescue.

I am surprised people do not understand these dogs are not just for a few months.
I owned one for his entire life and he was great.
He kept me from being asaulted one night.
Still miss him and because of him I rescued someone who needed to be saved from being destroyed.
Stop treating animals like a temporary item in your life.
Get a dog and know it is for life and not just to suit a momentary whim in your life.
