  • imo manga isn't supposed to be coloured like western comics

    nice work though

  • how did you change the ink color from black to other shades?

  • Basically, I'm coloring over them.

  • "This video may not be suitable for minors."

There youtube goes again... Objectifying women and being religious... *sigh* When will they learn that there's nothing shameful about a woman's body?

  • She's probably supposed to be older in this picture. Maybe she's 16 and uses a Cross Trainer.

But many 13/14 year old girls do have very mature looking bodies, though. The first time I EVER saw a girl who was 14/15 and looked like she was 10/11 was when I visited France.

Must have to do with blood/diet. Years ago I was with my older sister(she was 22 and I was 14) the guy who welcomed us into his house gave me wine and my sister orange juice lol Guys usually judge physical appearance.

  • Amazing Photoshop technique.

Where did you find this version of "She's on Fire?"

  • Girls do seem to be developing earlier and earlier... but anything animated gets to be a bit exaggerated... artistic perspective and such, I guess...

  • My god, I wish Asuka's ass was that amazing

  • shes only 14 , wait till shes 18

  • ...

Thats NOT the body of an 14 year old!

  • you sure havent seen many 14 year olds

  • ???

Isnt the bodyshape of Asuka a bit too mature?

  • i know some girls in my school that can pass for 18 real easy. 1 of them even drove a car and dint get caught (they around 14)

  • i like the shininess

  • dat ass

  • ha nice man nice the song is really :D:D:D I know i from scarface haha nice

  • deve de ser muy muy muy complicado hacer eso.

QE ARTISTA MAESTRO ESTAS ECHO COLEGA!!!!

  • NICE

U USE THE STUDIO OR UR OWN COMPUTER

  • muy bueno!!!

  • i got one question. what do you use to ink your drawings?

  • why?.....so you can fap to it?

  • cause i wanted to know, i an artist also, I have many styles and i like to communicate with other artist, if you knew me well, you'd know I'm here for network. I'm not an arrogant artist. but what do you mean by fap.. ?.

  • Whoa! sorry about that. Wrong guy.

  • Mastrubatiiiiiiiiing

  • Wow, so that's how you do it oldschool style.

Man, that's solid technique, but I personally think you went too far. I thought it looked best about 1/2 or maybe 2/3ds way into the video.

  • I agree, it's good but it was really nice around 2/3 of the way through. Awesome coloring though, you really got the highlights on the suit down. Also, who the hell flagged this? That's stupid.

  • yeah, thats very good. I like the character Asuka, but Neon Genisis .. well it´s quite weird.

  • OMG I REALLY LOVE ASUKA ^_^

  • wow, how long did this take you? maybe i should look into photoshop :P

  • haha Pen tool all the way :D

  • I love this way of coloring, but can't find any tutorials on it :o(

  • When you change the settings for the Brush tool it also changes for the Pentool, what ever you set in Brush auto sets in Pen..! Sorry if I didnt make it clear 1st time. I do a lot of PS work also, and use it almost every day. You tried Adobe after Effects yet WOOHOO awsome piece of software. lol anyway I'm sure you will have it all sorted by now. Best of luck

  • really cool style

  • I can tell that you're using the pen tool, but how are you making the color transitions so soft? Everytime I use the pen tool in Photoshop, it results in harsh-edged vector layers.

  • Have you tried changing your Flow and Opacity ?

Set your Flow to about 10% and Opacity to about 30% see if that helps at all, should give a nice smooth transition..

  • I'm talking about when he's using the pen tool. There is no flow or opacity for the pen tool that I can see. He's seemingly got smooth transitions just using the pen tool somehow. You're right though as far as using that Flow and Opacity for the paintbrush. It works quite well :)

  • hes using the lasso tool and the gradient tool, not brushes.....

  • lot of work goes into this stuff

  • ..fast...

  • The shines and shades are awesome

  • After all these harwork in Asuka`s legs,it must hurt hide the legs with the fog xDDD

  • Just so awesome :D

  • OMG!!! I can color really well with line art, but daaaaaymn!!!

I'm in awe right now, I have so many questions to ask : O!!

  • Wao... How many layers did it take? Ur work is awesome! Im still working Corel painter and its a hell of a lot of work to pin point the details... But still, very nice Asuka work. Looks profesional :D It would take me weeks to do that in Corel painter but this semester semester im taking Photoshop.Yay :D

  • what tool did you use to select then brush in?

  • From what I can see, they're using the pen tool and the polygonal lasso, or the magnetic lasso

  • Wow...pretty much speechless here, haha. I managed to see that you used the pen tool...must have been hell to click all those points and convert them afterwards. I'm going to use this as reference for a drawing I have yet to ink. Thanks for sharing this! And off I go to your site :ninjapoof:.

  • woops sorry i didnt se u already had a tut thanks btw ur tut rocks!

  • This is amzing! you are to good at this :P Could U please post a tutorial on how you did this kinda of work? I would like that very much. But ether way this is worth every one of those 5 starts and more keep up the great work ;)

  • sorry one more question, how did you do the cloud thing on the background?

  • are you scan the picture and then coloring it with adobe photoshop?please answer me..i need your help...

  • GTA VICE CITY SONG!

  • shit!!!

    I couldnt do that anyways...

it see very very difficult xD

  • pretty awesome...I can't do any of that yet but hopefully some day :D

  • gooooood stuff lol =D

  • She doesnt look like Asuka much, sure she have her outfit but still, that face.... That isnt Asuka.

  • I dunno... Seems Asuka-ish to me... It's kid of off, but it's similar.

  • aren't asuka's breasts a little less round from her plug suit...though the image kinda looks like her breast is exposed...oh well.....i do prefer her with red hair though....is it easier to color her blonde?...just asking...

  • @shadow777 She was blonde in the original manga.

  • Great dude, tho I think that in the colorings I've seen from you you fade the original drawing, the center, Asuka, too much with the backround bloom. Or whatever, I don't draw so I don't have the terms, but I can say that I would have wanted more of them sexy legs visible.

  • dude let me submit you an artwork of mine and color it that way! please xP

  • Sorry, my dance card is full-up for the foreseeable future. Glad you like the colorings though!

  • clever so and so :D

    good stuff.

  • Your highlights are simply amazing, I can't do great highlights, I love how detailed you are as well, adding the extra color of light from the background and other items. What tool is it that you are using? Your work is awesome keep it up!^^

  • nice ass... lol

  • i no lol

  • this is such an awesome tutorial and your attention to detail is amazing~! i think that's pretty darn smart to make an action in the selection process.... so you just pen tool the selection and you have an action that makes it a mask?

  • Yup, you got it.

  • I love the way you work! But I have a question. Are you adding a layers mask to your action? Why would you need a layer mask? Don't you just paint straight on when you have the marching ants?

  • awesome man simply awesome

  • how are you not affecting the ink? when u are coloring the inside!?

  • He puts the line art on top and colors another layer below it.

  • Artofphn,Great work indeed! The method you use is very unique and enthralling,I am curious how you turn the pen path straightaway to selection path, care to share the secret?

  • Sure thing! It's no real secret. I made an action for the selection process, so that all I have to do is make the selection and press a button. You can look up Photoshop Actions in google and make your Photoshopping much more easy and convenient.

  • sweet coloring dude!!!

it looks like the kind of coloring that is on the John scott Campells, Don't know if you know him, but it looks the same. Awesome job!!

  • I'm sorry. the drawing is fantastic.

don't watch hentai robot ladys, though.

  • skills...

  • man, you're awesome :O!

  • You are a great photoshop artist. Also, stodles, he probably speeded the video to make it go quicker otherwise people would lose interest.

  • How do you move so fast?

  • Man, this is awesome. I'm still doing all the coloring stuff by hand, which of course wil never result in anything comparable to this (except if you're some kind of Rembrand or wha'ever). Anyways, this is great work.

  • Awesome dude!

Here's looking forward to see more coloring vid from you.

  • OMG ive freaking got photoshop the other day and i freaking envy your ability to make her outfit all shiny

  • No real secret to it, just sharp highlights for making stuff look shiny.

  • what brush do you use when you see those lines lagging behind your pointer. it looks almost like the magic wand tool but it seems to work like a brush.

btw im in awe at your coloring ability. its amazing.

  • You're so darn talented.. All your pieces come out amazing - it's downright inspiring too

  • Thank you, I love what I do.

  • Nice job, but her eyes are usually a little smaller (from my point of view).

  • FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!

  • How do you mask your art with the purple thing? Everyone always says "be sure to mask your drawing so you don't miss any bits when you colour!" but I can't figure out how! Also how did you get that sort of "taking away/highlighting" effect when you were colouring instead of just pouring on straight colour??? :) Well done!

  • To make a mask, first create a layer under your line work (set the linework layer blending option to multiply). Then based on what piece of the drawing you want to color, color over that area, paying close attention to cover the full area but not go over into other areas. If you actually inked the drawing you can just use the magic wand and tool. Then make a layer over that (you will do the actually painting and shading on this layer) and right click on it and select, "clipping mask".

  • damn!

  • i take it that you like the manga Asuka since she's blond in that version. very cool vid and art!

  • Simply Amazing great work of art!

  • that is absolutely amazing..!

  • how did u do the white highlights and what percent of flow was it on??

  • With the pen tool/air brush, and flow is on full blast with low opacity.

  • Oh also I forgot to ask- why did you colour everything in weird colours with an orange background, then mask it purple?????

  • That's pure magic, but I would like to know the actual time of conception and if you used your own drawing or the one of someone else?

I like the cleaness of it!

  • This one was pretty short, about 2 hours. But that's cuz there was no background really.

    And it's my own pencils/inks/colors.

  • man... amazing!!!

ah... if i could do it T_T

  • another picasso......

  • Is there any chance that you will make some tutorials about digital coloring and the techniques that you use?

  • Hmm...that could be possible. What would you like to see?

  • It would be great to see some of your techniques in more detail. I'd like to know what tool settings you use for different tasks, how do you manage layers etc. I'm sure you know a lot of tricks that you could share with us.

Probably anything that you see as important and interesting in your work is in fact important and interesting. Especially for rookies like me ;)

  • This is pretty amazing. But I already told you that...

  • Dude you rock, really... keep up the great work!
