The universe will evolve and carry on with or without man and his beliefs. I know that for many this is likely the hardest thing to accept, and I must admit it was not easy for me.

The religious crusade of the Quakers took steam in England only when it was adopted by a very small, very conservative, and very influential/wealthy group of Anglicans. Once inside the Church of England, abolition became unstoppable. It spread in a viral fashion among people who practiced Christianity. There was no secular value to abolishing slavery. The Quakers would have been squashed like Socrates--they were in fact persecuted by British secular forces and that's why they left for America.

So politicians (including Bush, by the way, with his bailouts--just as guilty!!) are against the free market whenever they think the market's loss-aspect will cause them to pay a political price. So one would be completely wrong to say "nobody" is against the free market. Of course, you have this thing called the "Liberal free market" that you say nobody's against. You'd have to define that for me to evaluate your critical thinking skills. I doubt you have any.

Liberal politicians are also against the free market whenever its profit-aspect provides an opportunity for the politician to win votes by stirring up a climate of envy through the use of Marxist, class-warfare rhetoric on the campaign trail.

In this latter case, the Liberal politician will make much of greed's harm to society while ignoring the even greater harm envy causes. Afterall, in a free market, one can be as greedy as he wishes, but he will not get a dollar until he directs his attention to the needs and desires of his fellow man. On the other hand, politicians elected to office by the envious can easily stifle incentive to invest in business by creating a climate where investors fear losing their property rights.

You're naive. Government doesn't invest. It steals and then it spends. When it spends, it spends on the interests of the vote-needy and bureaucracy-kowtowing politicians in charge of the spending. Only in political rhetoric do "investments" always deliver a return. Politicians never hold themselves accountable to the kind of risk analysis based on past performance that is the primary focus in the financial world. Politicians always "invest" wisely. No, we conservatives don't hate government. We just have a more sophisticated understanding of it than liberals. So we're going to put the muzzle back on government that liberals have removed over the past 40 years so that we can remain a free people and not be subjected to the tyranny of ignorant, presumptuous, egotistical people like Obama and the Democrats in Congress. We don't want to regress back to the old ways of Euro-style, top-down, centralized government that our founders escaped from.
