  • Bet that he can not mix in this room that sounds like a church Do not think they thought of this when they madethis movie But all have been beginners sometime, but this was really bad. A real newbie!

  • @kardoplay LOL. Yeah a newb with a track list and NOT just a few cds under his belt. Your room doesn't have to be totally dead for you to mix and close monitors can minimize the problems. At any rate all rooms have nodes. It's a matter of knowing your room and your monitors.

  • Check out the new studio on my website. (simeonbowring)

    Please note the acoustic foam!!!

  • Come on people, may be the one who edited this video added some reverb, we don't know. One thing is for sure: this guy has a lot of years of experience, he's not a begginer.

  • You have to treat the room dude...lots of reverb there...I wonder how can you mix in this room =(

  • It is a great product but I have to say Focusrite need their ass kicking for not making suitable drivers for Windows 7 64 bit. There work around?Oh yeah roll back your bus driver to a legacy version...yeah right so I am going to compromise my DAW which is working perfectly by rolling back a bus driver to a legacy version.FOCUSRITE WINDOWS 7 IS A VALID OP SYSTEM<ITS BEEN OUT FOR AGES AND YOU STILL HAVE NOT SORTED A DRIVER FOR YOUR PRODUCTS OUT.AND YOU WONDER WHY ALOT OF PPL HAVE BAD OPINIONS.

  • @SPFXsynthesisers You're not compromising anything by using legacy drivers. Many, if not most, of the FireWire interfaces out there work better with the Legacy 1394 drivers rather than the Windows 7 drivers. I have a Liquid MIx running fine on Win 7 64bit. Switching back to legacy drivers hasn't changed anything for me.

  • His head is very close to his speakers. He probably doesn't hear the reverb of the room as we do.

  • NEEDS MORE COWBELL........

  • how could you add reverb and be able to judge the correct balance in an already reverberated room? I feel sorry for the guy who ends up mastering this

  • @btyremanable Hi there! ! If you want to check out my mixes please go and visit itunes or my website.. Having mixed over a hundred artists including Groove Armada, Blondie, The Lightening Seeds, and Pete Shelley (to name a few) I must be doing something right! Having said that I take everyone's point that the audio on this clip is really bad, but hey that wasn't me that recorded it!

  • @simeonbowring I'm not doubting your skills at all, I was just surprised at the lack of treatment in the room....you are very good at what you do

  • did the challenge:

managed to identify the LM - 80 %

    prefered LM to original - 20 %

still I think it's worth the money... the sound is close, how many pieces of the original equipment could I buy for the price of the LM? :)

  • Great units very versatile, sold mine a while ago cos i went uad and powercore, just bought another one to compliment the other stuff i'm using great sound lots of variety and free's up the cpu for more vst instruments and native plugins, easily worth the money, and a great video explains it clear as day nice work lads.

  • Thanks for the video, I was looking for something just like this but was afraid it that it may be a bit gimmicky. Even though I have some really nice sounding outboard comps eq's and effects I find it much less of an effort to use plug-ins but this is killing my cpu power. Your expert advice is appreciated and I will now head off to buy Liquid mix and post a response after using it.

  • reeeeeevrrrrrrbbbbbb...... verrrrbbb..... veeeeeeeeerrrbbb... veeee........

  • You really would need to be amazing to get a good mix out of such an incredibly awful sounding room!

  • @skeletalwreck Thanks, since I'm commercially mixing bands every week I'll take that as a compliment! : ) The room doesn't sound bad at all actually though I agree it sounds terrible in this interview. It might be that it was recorded through a dodgy compressed camcorder mic about 7 feet from me, not my fault but the interviewers!

  • Hi mproductionsmusik, no, I wasn't paid to do the video. With my experience of mixing and producing for over 20 years I would say it does sound very close to the real thing and for the money represents incredible value. At the end of the day it sounds good and that's what counts. This was an impromptu interview, tacked on the back of another (hence the ums!). My opinions cannot be bought & I didn't get any free products from Focusrite! (Although it would have been nice!).

  • i donw undestand that guy is the only one to say taht it sound like the real thing.. is he pay to do the video loll

  • Check out the Liquid Mix challenge from the product page of the Focusrite website to hear how close the emulations sound to the real thing

  • um, um and more um

  • WOW. its mad reverb in that room. he needs to put up acoustic panels and blankets

  • @coldthenamug i've worked with a couple of legendary engineers in my time and they say that mixing in completely dampened room is only ONE way of mixing. since people aren't usually listening to music in a completely dead room, mixing tracks in a 'standard' room isn't always a bad thing, especially when coupled with a good pair of headphones.

  • You can hear tracks from my new album on my video channel and at my myspace /simeonbowring. All mixed using the Liquid Mix!

  • yeah Sim,, you made that sound very interesting,

you should work in tv,, yeah..

  • Yes, I can mix in there although when the PR for Focusrite came to film me I don't know what they were doing with the sound! Sounds cavernous on this video clip! The mic used is an ADK Area 51 commemorative edition and I highly recommend it.

  • what a reverb room

  • How can you mix in that room? Eek.

  • @elderon87 I concur. Having great monitors and/or an amazing D/A converter means nothing if the room is not conditioned. I believe it is the room that is most important, monitors then D/A converter. Room first because it can even make consumer speakers speakers sound significantly more defined and controlled. Next would be monitors because even the best D/A cannot compensate for the inaccurate frequency response of cheap monitors. D/A of course is very important. Helps with mixing.Less fatigue

  • thnx for the vid... i didnt catch what mic your using? im looking for one at a reasonable price? but professional grade..(trying to keep my home studio with the better equipment.) Im working on mostly breaks, progressive house, electro etc... home studio)Im working on a tascam dm 4800 and the compression is OK definately waiting to buy the liquid mix, to use on my mixes threw logic studio 8. but professional grade.. • AKG C414, classic, cheap and wonderful large membrane condenser mic

  • @pklomaxbj, I wouldn't exactly call the AKG C414 cheap! Sure its cheapER than some, but its still going to cost you at the very least £500 ($800USD) !
