  • Makes you appreciate this existence...and man, the cool people that have walked this mortal coil. Much love to all of you who care.

  • Before there was Lady there was Dale!

  • thank you lilackitsune, this song & video brought back many good memories from the real MTV of the 80's, and all those 80's clubs here in town, back then. just somtimes, i wish i could go back. peace :-)

  • There best song ever!!!

  • Kid pix!!!

  • thanks lila, thanks

  • you cant share this so why have the option!!

  • To all the kiddies born in the late 80's who think Lady Gaga is God or something, I'll tell you that Gaga's look and style would not have been possible if it weren't for Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons, Annie Lennox, Cyndi Lauper, Grace Jones, or Madonna to name a few. They were the originals. Lady Caca is just a recycled mash up of the original creators of the style.

  • AWESOME!

  • A few observations from someone who was there:

    1) The video was indeed "cutting edge" for the time. Hard to believe , but true.

    2) Gaga totally rips off Dale. But not just Dale, she hijacks Bowie and Iggy Pop too. Many have borrowed from Bowie.

    3) Missing persons was not "way" ahead of their time. They are a product of their time. T. Bozzio is an absolute MONSTER of a drummer, knowing his other work, let's say he has always been fairly avant-garde. But MP wasn't "way" ahead, just a leader.

  • not the greatest video but loved the song in college.. MP was the hottest band then.

  • wow... colors....

  • Imitation is the best form of flattery I always say. All of you are comparing Gaga to Dale only because they both have bleach blonde hair. While they are similar in looks, their styles couldn't be more different musically. They both are great, at least both Dale and Gaga can perform live unlike the non-singing skanks of today!

  • lady gaga is junk advertising, Dale Bozzio is 100% original inspiration

  • so who is this Lady GaGa you guys keep talking about??

I would rather talk about Dale.

  • You can't even compare Gaga to Missing Persons. Missing Persons is a timeless classic.

  • Right on; I agree.

  • This video was actually cutting edge for the time, believe it or not. And it is one of MP's under rated gems. Agree that Gaga stole from Dale heavily. Dale and MP were way ahead of their time.

  • Sure Lady Gaga is "borrowing" from Dale, but as much as I love Missing Persons, Dale was not the most powerful nor original singer...her hiccup is also a trademark of Lene Lovich as well as Cyndi Lauper. Even her wardrobe (other than her titty shields) was not terribly unique for the time (something on the order of Siouxsie Sioux - no, Toyah- wiggled into Peggy Bundy's tramp pants!) But still cooler than Gaga, I guess.

  • i have been waiting for this. i saw it when i was little and drew a picture of it. and i never thought i would see it again, and its still amazing!

  • What a gloriously terrible video. I don't think I ever actually saw the video itself back in the day, but this song was always a guilty pleasure of mine.

  • i thought gwen ripped off dale more the gaga. I thought gaga was ripping off Goldfrapp or terri nunn. Who is goldfrapp ripping off :D

  • the world must seem very plain 2 u,black an white

  • lady gaga is cool, dale is the original, its great to see others inspired by the original work of Dale. just wish the masses knew what an inspiration she is.

  • Dale Bozio has more talent on her little pinky than Lady Gaga's entire persona.

  • Whoa, Peter Max did the video? that's so awesome! I love his art.

  • naive? she was a playboy model...

  • Comment removed

  • anyone else think Lady Gaga looks like a Dale Bozzio ripoff? only with a less interesting voice, not such a good band behind her, and not such good tits!

  • Lady Gaga looks like a Christina Aguilera ripoff. It looks like Gwen Stefani might have been inspired by Dale at some point in the 90's though.

  • Yes, agreed. The whole bubbles photo stuff, bleach-blonde and over-makeup'd face reek of Dale Bozzio.

  • Lady Gaga saw Missing Persons' video like a thousand times, saying "Oh well I'm gonna be the next Dale Bozzio"

  • HELLO!!! TOTALLY COPPED HER LOOK, LADY CACA THAT IS. She's a total 80's ripoff artist. I'm sure she has tons of 40 something women around her from the 80's advising her. ARTIST MY ASS! She's a fucking copycat. ANd not a very good one at that. TWAT!

  • Lady Gaga totally stole Dale's look. Gaga is a cloner!

  • one of the top 10 most beautiful pop songs ever imo

  • she was cute!

  • Still is. OMG........

  • I remember when this premiered on MTV. I think they said at the time that they used the latest in computer graphics technology.

I thought it was dazzling back in the day. In 84, computer graphics on this level wasn't something you saw everyday. So a video like this grabbed your attention whether you liked the song or not....at least the first time you saw it. In my case, the song was very disappointing so it became ho-hum after seeing it a few times. No disrespect to those who like it.

  • beautiful song this voice is something special, so beautiful

  • Peter Max art added a nice metaphysical aspect to the song. Saw then in '84 at the Agora Ballroom, anyone remember that place? and what a concert it was. They blew the place away, Terry was incredible. His drum set was right up at the edge of the stage and it was amazing how he played

  • I saw them in '84 in Norfolk, VA. It was incredible as you say.

  • ...once upon a time music videos were considered more video art than gimmicky selling tools...what the hell happened...??? Missing Persons were ground breakers. Are musicians in this day and age really that uncreative?

  • yes,for the most part.

arent you glad you grew up in the 20th century?

  • Dale BOzzio Rocks

    i just love her voice

Great song i love it peaceful

  • I love the weird songs from the band!

  • this definitely wasnt a hit, and MTV barely played it. Its melancholy with bass-synth is MP at their finest though.

  • The only time I remember seeing this video was when it was an "MTV exclusive" in September '84-I saw it every morning at 7 am before I left for school!!!

  • The chorus of this song was stuck in my head for *weeks* when it was a hit. Very difficult to work Physics and Engineering problems when that happens...

  • Why did purity of this nature fade? can any one tell me?

  • Probably the most colorful video ever made. Missing Persons is such a great group. I don't mind being stuck in the 80's. MTV really helped get these bands recognized.

  • Wow, I haven't seen since 84 or 85. It was mindblowing back then for a kid who was really into art. Thanks very much.

  • The way they used color back in the 80s music videos was stellar.

  • This forgotten song and video all by itself, still kicks the A** of all the current hits, despite all their expensive production and drugged-out repetitive eemo simpering. Even the lesser-known New Wave cuts like this, that were never super hits, just rule like God over the empty canned derivative crap of today.

  • AMEN!!!...SOOO TRUE!!

  • This is great makeout music.

  • Oh Yeah!..R U a girl or guy?

  • Wow! Beautiful, etherial and haunting. New wave at its best. Simple and subtle. It affects me like no music today.

  • I've always loved this song - subtle and emotional. And you are so right, NoHoiPolloi -- this song reminds me of hanging out at the Fandom Zone in Tampa, gaming until the wee hours of the morning. Best time of my life. Thank you so much for posting this!

  • YOU'RE WELCOME. I'm glad you liked it

  • i remember seeing this video only once, but my lil sis had the album-damn near wore the groove thru! Grade 8-one morning before school on the original MTV! not the dreck and drivel that passes for it these days!

    thanx for the awesome timewarp!!

  • This *really* takes me back. It's amazing how a song can evoke emotions from the past. Almost as though you're right there again... Thanks for posting this!

  • Wow, I remember seeing this on MTV back when 95% of their programming WAS music videos. What a fantastic song! Thanks for posting!

  • simplemente IDEA MUSICAL

  • this song is part of my unromantic teen years....i love it and i think that the magic of it is the simplicity of the music and the haunting voice of Dale....i love them...

  • "Part of my Unromantic Teen Years" Sounds like the story of my life. I had some great memories back in High School. The fun really started when i left America for Australia.

  • A classic.

  • Awesomely psychedelic video! Love the colors!

  • Geez, another song I thought I'd never hear again! Reminds me of the video showe Nite Tracks.

  • Well, I dunno if what you said is positive or not, but sounds like you don't like it... Maybe I'm wrong that's why i'm asking

  • I do like it. I heard "Words" while stuck in traffic and decided to see if this song was here...and of course you can find anything on YouTube.

  • Cool! yeah this one is my fave from this band. Yeah you can find everything on youtube, even things you don't like ;)

  • Night Tracks was a show that came on late night around the time MTV first came on the air. NT showed videos one after the other the same as MTV used to be before corporate sponsorship and mind-numbing games shows and chat took over. Back then, it WAS all about the music and there were a few shows that catered to the new media of music videos.

  • Summer school at JC trying to catch up with my education after 3 years in the US NAVY. I seem to recall only good things from the bad old days.

  • it's twilight in the summer 1985 and this is how its feels. on my bmx on the track behind my house, summer before grade 9

  • sad memories with this sweet tune

  • MISSING PERSONS!!!!! SWEET!!!

  • I'll say bitter sweet....rico........without loveeeeeeeeeeeeee.....to mmeeeeeeee

  • I have always loved the serenity of this song

You and I have so many interesting dimensions

together Bo.And I know we will explore them together.

    Surrender youre heart Bo..

    Madison

  • Perfect song.

  • Lovely song, Woman and Pop art experience !

  • Thanks for posting :))

  • this song is one of my favorites.....I can listen to it anytime!

  • Mine too! I love Rhyme & Reason as much as Spring Session M. I wish there was a video for "Now Is The Time For Love".

  • speaka the english

  • yes I do. why you ask?

  • Try speaking Spanish. The world does not revolve around the English language. Twice as many people speak Cantonese than English and there are hundreds of languages on this planet, so deal with it.

Try travelling and meeting different people and you will grow out of your xenophobic ways.

Do it as soon as possible.

  • why this comment here???

  • a beautiful song for this video...

  • que hermosa letra "it´s impossible to go on...without love...surrender your heart, why can´t you see it´s the only way that it can be?...I don´t know why you would never give into me?"....

  • the video was made by the artist Peter Max. it used apple macintosh mcpaint software in conjunction with video and still images.

  • Who where the Artistic geniuses behind MP vids!?! Esta cancion me da mucha paz. Paix et Justice a tout le Monde:}

  • i am only 25 years old..and i big missing persons fan..i have all of their albums...this is one of my fave songs...along with action reaction.....i think only no doubt came close to imitating them with the album return of saturn....

  • it's so good to see this video again, i only got to see this in muchmusic canada, i dont know if mtv ever played this great video. one of my favorite bands in the 80's with a female vocalist. rockin' ladies of the 80's, rock on...

  • was this vid made by Peter Max?

  • Well that's the siggy at the end of it :)

  • Yes, this video was designed by Peter Max

  • To me this song is still incredible.

  • What an awesome band. One of the few bands whose songs really stick in my head 25 years later. Totally underrated and stand the test of time better than 95% of the bands of the period.

  • "Totally underrated and stand the test of time better than 95% of the bands of the period. "

yes, and I think they are better than Blondie too

  • What a sweet song ....

Missing Persons was underrated I think

  • its true, Missing Persons was a great band

    :)

  • lilackitsune: thanks for this memory, the best song from missing persons, it's great, from Los Angeles California of course, thanks again.

  • oniricos recuerdos. i just saw it 1 time long time ago thx. lilackitsune
