I love Baez's heart-breaking version too, it really solidified her credentials as one of the greatest Country singers ever, though Nashville would never admit it.
I rate EVERY Song Skeeter Davis sings as "AWESOME". She was one of the GREATEST Female Vocalists of ALL time, not to mention, one of the KINDEST and MOST WONDERFUL Women to ever walk this Earth!!!
I really like Skeeter Davis, but on this one I think I like Anne Murray's better. Skeeter is from a small ton very close to where I grew up and still call home. An old boyfriend of mine had dated her sister.
Joan Baez does the best version of this song by far...wish she did more like it.

I like both Anne and Skeeter's, but Joan Baez really makes you feel bad and sad by the end of her version.
