Lee Kuan Yew does not fuck around and gets things done unlike milton friedman or thomas sowell who justsitting behind a table, theorizing and complaining.
The old bastard didn't burn any bridges but you can see he wasn't saying what he actually thinks' he was very careful not to tread on toes and kept all his doors open.
@pathmanp1 I just looked at your profile to find out what kind of cretin would make a comment like yours. Can't believe you're 27 years old. I was expecting a five year old with some kind of severe mental illness. It's a shame there are people like you in the world. Anda seorang bodoh bodoh sialan
@morrich1 typical.... the election comes around and suddenly you're all patriotic, when its done you go back to whinging how LKY has restricted your individual freedoms. LKY did great things for Singapore but he needs to die for singapore to evolve into a democracy. This is merely my view and I will express it, you don't have to subscribe to it. I'm in no way forcing it on you nor will I stoop to your level and hurl personal insults.
@pathmanp1 I'm English so won't have anything to do with the election. I just happen to work in Singapore at the moment. If you had a sensible reason for saying what you did then you'd have been better off making it clear the first time, rather than making myself and everyone else think you're an idiot. If you make a comment as reprehensible as your original one, without explaining yourself, you're bound to receive personal insults.
This old man is wise from a political point of view but every man has his own limitations.
US didn't go to Iraq to bring democracy, it was just to mask the economic crisis of US, its own failure as a capitalist country, I believe in capitalism and democracy and I think corruption is the main enemy of the capitalism and democracy and the solution is not only political, it must be be constitutional and moral too, i think this old man has right when he says that the economicpower will move to Asia
I think we can really learn a lot from Lee Kuan Yew. Humility is definitely a virtue. Arrogance and pride are downfalls to any person or nation. I learn a lot from these interviews... not just the politics but how one should carry themselves to be heard, in any challenging situations. These are tough questions that Charlie Rose asked and I think LKY answered them very well.
A statesman comparable to Deng Xiaoping in terms of intelligence and shrewedness.

One of the most able and experienced political minds currently living...
A wealth of experience and knowledge...
I read his Memoirs, 'From Third World to First', and 'The Singapore Story'. Necessary reading for any serious modern mind...
