He doesn't die, it's because the secret police told him to simulate his death. then a few weeks later he goes in a coma and he dreams that he's married to brennan and that they're gonna have a baby together. then he wokes up and realises that it was all a dream and that it was the book brennan was reading to him which influenced his dream. (they love each other anyway, so we just have to wait to see that dream come true :P)
