  • What music plays in the intro of the review?

  • Mate sonic colours is a great sonic game that iv just got hold of last week :) well worth a look at and as for sonic generations little sonic plays just as he did in sonic 1 and 2 but with the HD make over and lanky sonic plays just as he does in sonic colours which although not really on par with the classic 2d sonic gameplay is still fun and above all fast lol.....

  • a word of warning though this game has afew game breaking bugs which i found out the hard way but its still a great game.....killer soundtrack to :)

  • This was my favourite of all your vids, not just because of how slick it was but it made me aware of a whole Sonic game 'd never heard of! and thanks for providing the link too.

    Legend

  • @olivercx2 First i want to say thank you for watching my vid's and second you totally made my day with this comment :D. My aim with this review was to show people a sonic game they might not be aware of and to do it in an entertaining way, and i now know i've achieved that :D

  • @davidhassl3h0ff there's no more knuckles games but games with knuckles in it that's another story... like in the case of some newer games such as sonic r and sonic riders which I mentioned... but you didn't mention in the video, just thought you'd like to know.

  • Looks good dude, great review, looks like its worth checking out, Sonic Generations is pretty refreshing and worth playing.

  • Hey Bud - Great video, off to a great start in 2012. Man, I wish I was better at Sonic, I could never really get the hang of it, maybe I should put some practice in, or have you got any tips???

  • @theretrogamesnews thanks man :D i plan to start this year as i mean to go on. the only tip i can give u is dont get sucked in to the hold speed thing because thats how you die, it's nice to go super fast tho ;D

  • @davidhass3lh0ff Ah, that has been my mistake then, I thought it was all about the speed!! So, need to take it a bit easy then. Thanks for the tip, I'll try it again and try and not throw the joypad down after 2 minutes!

  • Hey, Stealth from Team Megamix, here. Thanks for the review! Just to mention- The game was permanently moved to SegaCD as of this version; the cart ROM is outdated. Most of the bugs are because, as stated on the wiki, it was released incomplete; the next (final) release will be much more solid. Please link to the article rather than the files. Also, I realize the "Sonic Retro" screen is fancy, but it's just an ad for a couple of admins on our team. This is very much a "Team Megamix" thing :P

  • @OCStealth wow thank's guy's, when i writing this script i was tempted to contact you guy's to get your feedback and for fact checking kinda wished i had now :( but im thinking of doing a revised verson of this review with a few changes and adding some stuff too.

  • @davidhass3lh0ff I'll keep an eye out for it. If you would like to discuss that or something else for any reason, don't be afraid to hit me up by private message or something :P

  • @videogametech1 Thanks bud ;)

  • Michael, Sonic Generations is amazing. I havent played Sonic Colors but Generations is fantastic, a definite pickup in my opinion/

  • @FrostFlipz cool i will give it a try sometime :D

  • I meant to get this a while ago but completely forgot about it. I have just finished sonic generations, and although it breathes fresh life into some older levels, it just feels cheap and too small a game really. Though it's probably worth picking up if you find it cheap or get it on sale on steam. Also, the sonic 4 episode 2 trailer has been released and is apparently to be expected late summer

  • @TempAvailableGaming im on the same wave lenght it the reason i dident get generation new but if i see it going cheap i will pick it up sometime.

  • One thing I have learned is Homebrew games are not always perfect so that comes hand inhand and one chooses what to complain about, but in all most Homebrew games are pretty cool, and this one looks BOSS! Thanks for sharing. That's cool to be able to use Shadow The Hedge Hog, which I have learned to like a lot. He is just bad ass! The soundtrack is definately boss and Love the Michael Jackson themes too. Have you tried the Sonic Spinball yet?

I would love to see a full game review on it one day

  • @HWC1218 there not but people dont play homebrew games because there perfect they play them because there different and mad but fan's of gaming. your welcome and it was pretty cool to be able to play as shadow :). The MJ tracks rull i have tryed sonic spinball and i might review it sometime in the future.

  • Great review again!

Game looks really cool, will need to try this one out. I've seen this before, but it was a much older version I think? I didn't have Shadow in it at least... I do like that they included Mighty.

As for colo(u)rs, I've got a review up on it. It's a pretty good game, certainly one of the best 3D ones. Generations tops it though, it's a blast to play and I highly recommend you pick it up. As a classic Sonic fan, you'll love it to bits!

  • @HalfBlindGamer im not sure but the sgea cd verson might of been verson befor the newest verson so if you want to play the latest build you will never the next verson after this one but i like this verson and apart from the bug's , it was awesome to play this on my mega drive :D thanks glade you enjoyed the review

  • Dude you forgot chaotix and other sonic games knuckles has graced like sonic r and sonic riders.

  • @TheNews1990 never played chaotix but herd it was good and i wasent a big fan of sonic r.

  • @davidhass3lh0ff what about sonic riders? I haven't played much of sonic r and I do hate it but my point still stands you forgot about other knuckles games

  • @TheNews1990 as far as i was aware there was just chaotix ;o so what other knuckles games are there?

  • Very interesting review, keep up the great work! Honestly if you're a Sonic fan you're missing out if you don't play Sonic Colors & Generations, they're both awesome action/platform games

  • @arioca thank you :D i will give colours and generations a go some time.

  • Damn it, I totally blame you making me have to spend my free time next weekend playing this game. I have played the original so many times and still enjoy so looking forward to playing a re-mix. If it's anywhere close to interesting as playing the lost levels of other Sonic games that were made available from levels left over in the carts this will be fantastic. Thanks kindly for the info or I might have missed this completely!

  • @arcadegametable your more then welcome :D the main reason for doing this review for to let other sonic fan's know about this gem. in some way's i found it more fun then the orginal but that might be because i've play the orginal so meany time so it was nice to have new levels and more playable chracters.

  • The Jackson music is from the game moon walker

  • @classicgamestash i kinda guess it was to be honest :D but it cool it's in there

  • I been playing this and it is a damn fun game wish to find a way to find other homebrews like it on genesis, snes, or nes

  • @transparencypro same here :D if there are other games like this i totally want to find them and play em ;)

  • Looks like a nice homebrew. I think it's rather odd to put Micheal Jackson songs(from the Moonwalker game no doubt) into the game though, IMO.

So, Sonic Generations and Sonic Colors..those are actually good games so you couldn't go wrong with them. there is a demo for Generations on the XBLA and PSN market place so check it out if you haven't already.

    Good review.

  • @SPac316 it was a bit wired but they did sound pretty good and it was prob sonic retro paying tribute to the fact that MJ was at one point working oo the soundtrack to sonic3 or they were just big MJ fans :D WHO'S BAD XD

  • @davidhass3lh0ff Their good I promise

  • Just a quick question. I dont have my sega cd any more. Will this work on an emulator such as kega fusion?

  • @TheMugfaker it will work on an emulator with problem and all the footage you saw in this review was megamix running off kega fusion :D

  • Oh yes! Another fantastic review !

  • @TheMugfaker thank you :D

  • Great Review Michael :D

I love hearing reviews on Sonic games and yours was great. I never knew that you could burn the game onto a CD so I guess I have something to try out in my spare time :D

Also Michael you should defiantly get Sonic Generations. Out of all the Sonic games I have played, Generations to me ranks up high with Sonic 3&K and Adventure 2 with just how fun it is ;)

  • @SonicKing08 thanks bud

:O relay it's up there there with sonic 3&K i totally have to give generations a go :D

  • @davidhass3lh0ff If you like classic Sonic games then its definatly worth it. And if like fast 3D platfroming then it does an amazing job by even bringing classic stages into 3D masterpieces. It does rate around the same area as Sonic 3&K in my opion, but to others it may be differnt, I surely enjoyed it to the point where I had a nostoglia rush and had a huge smile on my face when the credits where going through the classic stage designs. Im only 17, and it makes me feel old XD

  • Nice! Really impressive for a homebrew project. Makes me wanna work extra hard on my own projects =D While I don't own Sonic Generations, I've played demos with both the 2D and 3D gameplay and gotta say, they're both pretty awesome. Definitely will pick it up soon.

  • @MrWtaplin are you working on a game? for a homebrew game it's pretty good and just show's what can be done.

  • @davidhass3lh0ff I'm very much an amateur game developer, so I still have quite a ways to go. Currently working on a 8-bit styled game engine and a horizontal shmup. My channel is kind of a development vlog.

  • i guess you missed the steam sales, i got sonic generations for like £10. i have not played it yet but I hear it's good

  • @crawford1990x im not on steam but wow 10 pounds thats an awesome deal :D i think i might have to get myself a steam account so i dont miss deal's like that again

  • Nice review, Michael, always fair and accurate...not to mention entertaining, whatever the game. Must say, Colours and Generations are the two best Sonic games I've played in ten years. A friend of mine who dislikes Sonic generally really enjoyed Generations when I forced him to give it a go. Colours has a brilliant story and spot on controls (humorous dialogue..not just silliness). Also, I think the flaw of Sonic 4 was its rehash of old level designs. Seems merely an homage.

  • @drewskione wow thanks dude :D same here as must as i did at first like them paying tribute to the first sonic game with 4 it just dident have an own identity. cool i will give generations and colours a go sometime ;)

  • Nice review! I'll be burning a cd as soon as I get to my computer!

  • @subhumantype awesome have fun :D
