I can tell that you have an east texas accent.... west texas is slightly different......I am from central arkansas and I know several people from east/central texas and that is their accent.
I've heard a wide variety of southern accents since coming to charlotte, you do have a southern twang.
Im from Philadelphia, to me, it basically sounds as if you cut off the beginning and end of most of your words, and rhythmically elongate the endings. But people down here often tell me I 'speak really proper' or something like that.
People don't know country until they've been to the blue ridge mountains. I'm from SC and my accent is pretty southern, but the people up in the mountain sound like straight up hicks.
Not too southern...More Texas than anything .I was in the NAvy and been around a lot of Texans and I would say you have a twang but I wouldn't call it southern though. Pretty normal accent for Texas though. (That's just my opinion)
lol maybe a gay guy's southern accent. course im from north carolina so i dont no about texas exactly. us in NC, SC, VA, and GA have more of an old southern accent. kinda like civil war era.
Your from tyler???? Im from around longview.. I'm not living there anymore but i always get compliments about my accent.. and yes from the region of texas we live in, the accent is super thick.. like seriously.. people actually have me repeat my self becuase its hard to understand
You sound like your from East Texas because that region sounds a bit more "southern". West Texas generally has a more western sounding accent. I was born and raised in West Texas but Im living in Alabama right now. I sound more southern now. ;) But Texas will forever dwell in my heart. I <3 TEXAS
big southern accent. you'd have to be from way far east texas because much of the state to west is very different and has almost a western US accent as compared to a southern.
I was born in east Texas but got moved way before I could get the accent. Would've been funny since Dad was from Kentuckiana and Mom was from New England.
i think that the good thing is....there are alot of different southern accents...and they sound different from the top to bottom of every state... in Arkansas, the southwest sounds more Texan, and the southeast is more Missisippi...the central and north is more like what you would hear in North Miss. or Tenn. and people from North Louisiana sound alot like Arkansawyers..
It sounds southern to me :) Yours just is really drawn out. I used to know a guy from Texas that had one almost like yours. I come from goldsborow, NC. I used to have an accent, and still do to some people, but it doesnt come up as much until I hear other people talkin' to me in southern. All I can say is enjoy yours and dont be sorry you have it!
well, to know what a real southern accent and not a hollywood dramatized southern accent sounds like you would have to hear it. I guess you could look for news shows from the south. Like Mississippi News stations, or Texas. Florida is southern but their accents are different from ours. I'm from Mississippi so I've got a pretty bad one. Our News channel is WLBT News. Look at the interviews.
Not all country singers have country accents either . Like Johnny Cash was smooth and so was Patsy Cline. But Country accents can be kinda neat too, if they are light.
In my acting class I am supposed to do some ruddy accent. It's bloody rediculous to me, seeing as how i cannot do a simple american one, let alone make some form of southern 'twang' or New York accent.
a twang is not the same thing as a southern accent. A twang is more nasal like a country accent, or many northerners have a twang. I think you mean a drawl.
from someone in new zealand, that can offer a different perspective again: i think the way you speak has some origins in a way you might hear a faint scottish (possibly irish) sound - but also the rythym in which these people tend to talk, except this is slower. if you listen carefully there is some truth in what i say.
YOU ILOVE IT IT SEXY !!! AND YOU VERY GOOD LOOKING AND HOPEFUULL Y U SUB ME EVEN THOUGH IM NOT THAT GREAT AMND THISS COMMING SUMMER I THINK IM GOING TO HUSTON TEXas
