I really feel the Love Train cover by The Supremes! It's just as good as The OJay's version! It's every bit as powerful! Jeanne tears it up on this one and Bad Weather! I like The Supremes with Soul and ATTITUDE! Diana Ross was good but, Jeanne is much better!
The1970's Suremes post Diana Ross were finally getting to be respected more as artist than Pop Singers! Pops is what made Motown/Berry Gordy his $fortune$ but to sacrifice the work of ten years, The Supremes label, to manufacture Diana Ross/Superstar prove to be a mistake! Gordy systematically by poor management and shifting budget to promotions and marketing solidly to Diana Ross he damaged not only The Supremes but many other artist in the Motown/Tamla/Soul label!
the old and new supremes were excellent at taking certain top 40 songs and making them uniquely theirs. This is an example ...If only jean had stayed a little longer ,who knows what would have happened in the Supremes disco era-!
@redlabs There's always been speculation over this but Lynda assures me that the only track they ever did with Stevie producing was 'Bad Weather'. They were going to do more with him, but it never happened, sadly.
I've just got THIS to say! IF you think THIS is fabulous, The way they ORIGINALLY RECORDED this tune KNOCKS this one OFF the edge! Mary let me hear original recordings of this song before Motown got ahold of it and SEVERELY watered it DOWN......IT was the FUNKIEST thing I'd ever HEARD! Those girls were TEARIN' it APART and especially JEAN, and the music STOMPED! I couldn't beLIEVE the difference.... the scaling down and thinning out! THEY STOMPED!!!!!
wish the backing vocal were a bit louder, but i like this song.this is why i bought the SUPREMES AT THEIR BEST ALBUM

How the ladies could dance in those shoes, I'll never know! But they do it well.

@theboyfromxtown Lots of practice. Especially since once you hit the 70s, Mary had been dancing in heels for about a decade

The o'jays don't compare to the Supremes. The Supremes are better even without Diana.

This would've been a big hit if released and promoted by The Supremes rather than the Ojays!
