    THATS TRUE ..

AND IM GETTIN A XRAY THIS SEP30

IWANNA GET BETTER HOPEFULLY THEY HELP ME OUT

  • ty so much for your reply - i am a lot betetr today i went to the dr and he said to eat slow - chew all the way etc -- so i am now eating again

  • i am on a fluid diet only - no soilds at all -- solids wont go down at all for some time now please help me

  • @redbutterflynine Verification of diagnosis comes first from your personal physician. If the diagnosis is verified with a videofluoroscopic swallow study, the primary option is cricopharyngeus myotomy. Find someone who deals with this problem a lot and go from there.

  • please keep me in prayers i had a dilation done bc of acid reflux thing on the bottom of my esophogus but am no better soilds get stuck every time i am desperate please help me - i have to go back to the dr tomorrow but in the mean time i am very afraid

  • I can only swallow normal when im very very very very hungry

  • Could laser surgery (cricopharyngeus myotomy) be used to treat crico spasm as well?

  • we're all adults here.why say achalasia like were 4?

  • i have had the barium done and they found a mass just in side the esophagus .but when they do the scope (or the light that goes down the throat )they see nothing but they told me my throat was closing but the docters i have went to do not go any further with it where can i go to get help? oe what do i do? my email is mcgilllawrencena@yahoo.com

  • @gallantsword4u Cricopharyngeus dysfunction (non-relaxation) creates a projection into the lumen and this narrows the barium stream. That's because the muscle won't "let go" so you see this asymmetrical hourglass contour of the esophagus exactly where the muscle is located. If this dx is verified, then primary option is cricopharyngeus myotomy. There are others, so check with a physician who does this kind of problem a lot. Be sure to take the barium images (not just the report) with you.

  • Dr. Bastian:

based on decades of experience that you have with patients and the medical literature, what are some noteworthy mechanisms responsible for sudden-onset dysphagia? A short interval under a 24 period, to be more precise. I read a few vague references related to esophagitis from the AAFP, but nothing sufficient. Also, have you heard of eosinophilic esophagitis disturbing upper esophageal motility? By the way, some people here actually appreciate your expertise and videos. Take care.

  • If not treated immediately, will this get worse?

  • @vhanix18 IF the diagnosis is cricopharyngeus dysfunction (and your doctor would have to verify), it tends to get worse very slowly, often across months or even several years.

  • My achalasia had worsened to the point that I wasn't able to drink fluids without coughing it back up. Luckily I had a myotomy done.

  • Hello, Dr. Robert, thanks for your information, I'm looking for information about my swallowing problems, I got vocal cord cancer, I was treated with quimo and radiation, and everything is over, but still having problem to swallow, is there anything to help, apart from speeach therapy, I've tryed already that, but did not help much, I feel my throat so tide, and feel one part of that kind of closed, and the food gets stock, any info, let me know please I'm so depresed for it. thank you Dr. R.

  • @myguitarz69 Check with your doctor, but videofluoroscopic swallowing study to rule out stricture, especially if liquids work, but solids don't. Other potential causes, such as dryness, stiffening from radiation, but precise diagnosis should come from your doctor. These are just orienting ideas.

  • I've been regurgitating since I can remember, it's taken me 6 years to get a diagnosis. I wish I'd seen this video years ago.

  • is disphagia incurable????? or some r curable

  • Thank you for your information. I got a swallow test a couple of days ago with the berrium. Im waiting for the Results

  • All the best.

  • Well Chris what was the out come of you test. Why don't you share with us. You leave a post and don't follow up. You are chris all for yourself.

  • I have this Prolbem ive lost a lot of wait int he past half year should i go to the doctor ? it feels like my throat all stops solid foods from going down but like liqwids and like crackers and stuff will go down idk what to do

  • Definitely. This video is informational. Anyone with food lodgement, and especially with weight loss, must be evaluated by a personal physician. Sometimes this is via esophagoscopy (looking down the esophagus with a scope); otherwise, using an xray technique to see how barium (the contrast material) flows through the esophagus. Please don't use this as medical advice but see your physician!

  • I have the lump in throat after eating . This just started happening a few weeks ago. Is this a condtion that comes and goes. I would like to get the laser but if it comes and goes . I dont want to get surgery if it will go away. I never had it before. Could it be an allergic reaction. Would love your opinion. Thanks.

  • I have never heard of either the small neck incision or the lazer one. I had a different type of procedure for Achalasia.

  • Achalasia more commonly refers to difficutly lower in the esophagus. We are talking about non-relaxation of the upper esophageal sphincter (cricopharyngeus). Myotomy is a major treatment, either endoscopically (through mouth) with laser, or via small low neck incision.

  • I am curious as to the side effects from that lazer. Thank you doctor! You are good and have alot of good virtue!

  • actually my anxiety and panix attacks I sometimes get makes this area hurt as well. Nobody seems to understand. I do not eat spaghetti because that is the worst and if you can take coated pills that is better. Makes sure you chew your food thoroughly and drink lots of water everyday. I am a vegetarian for 2 years now and you should stay away from meat.

P.S. Caffeine can make this worse too. I found all this out on my own.

  • I beleive I have this and when the food gets lodged it is very difficult to move it to get it out or swallow it. However I found if I drink some water and slightly bend foward and bend my head foward with the top of my head almost facing the floor and swallow then the water will send it down. Sometimes it takes hours or even days to dislodge but eventually I get. It is extremely annoying. The post nasal drip and acid reflux contribute to this problem.

  • Thanks it helped alot.

  • thank you, this has given me very useful insight..

  • very usefull many thans

  • Wish I knew what would be the cause in a 16 month old refusing to eat any solids / spits out any solid after chewing it.

  • I think I've had that from time to time. It comes and goes.

  • thanx alot for that mate i need checking out
