  • ive been looking for this song forever!

  • Modern society really discourages me from applying myself to the social norm of "growing old." Everyone I know wants to be some doctor, lawyer, or other common;y wanted job. But usually now we don't become those things. I want run away from the bounding norms, and ignorance of modern life. There is no bliss in society. I want to become someone like Chris McCandless or Che Guevara during his Motorcycle Diaries. Or at least settle down in a place like Twin Oaks, Virginia, USA.

  • Has anyone else noticed this song is used in pretty much every movie trailer ever?

  • @FirstRoundPick2012 lets not exaggerate. only used in "We Bought a Zoo"

  • @juliengong1 Also in Slumdog Millionaire. And i also have heard it in quite a few others.

  • kinda cried a bit thinking that, when I get old I will look back on these days and remember only the amazing things I did when I was young and I will know that there will be no real way of going back, and I will think that the only thing I can do is have as much fun as possible before I die.

  • I have this dream of going to Iceland and sitting on the lush green hills all days for endless days listening to Sigur Ros with the boy I love:-)

  • Turn back time, anyone can change the world

  • cannot believe how powerful this song is. music is a blessing.

  • Perhaps the most bittersweet music video I've ever seen. Absolutely fantastic.

  • him and bjork need to do a duet album

  • Cara mia, non si scrive Sigur Ross, bensì Sigur Rós! E non si scrive Hoppipolla, bensì Hoppípolla ;)

  • Stay young

  • The posts for music such as this are incredibly moving to read and also very inspirational. Thank you everybody!

  • I heard this in We Bought a Zoo, and the music is beautiful. It legit gave me goosebumps. <3

  • this is adorable

  • I truly love how there are no comments bashing each other on this video. There is no hate or contempt, no fighting over what is music or spiteful arguements to why Sigur Ros may be better than other artists. It's simply people all coming together under one understanding to share their opinions, stories, and feelings that this amazing song brings up. That's why I love Sigur Ros.

  • @Ramothka Absolutely agree with this beautifully written comment! Sigur Ros embodies tolerance, empathy, and compassion of spirit. Even if someone were to come on here and bash their music I would be like, whatever that's cool. Love ya anyway.

  • I just found this song a few months ago. I am 21 and I can't wait till I watch this when I'm a lot older, 40 or 50 years from now. It represents how I will wish I could go back to being 9 or 10 years old and what it would mean to do that again and just be a kid. It will be priceless. I will enjoy what I have for now but then, I will truly get the full meaning of this video. Completely and utterly priceless beyond words. Thanks Sigur for giving me this gift.

  • @wwb5029 Well. I'm 22 years older than you are and I feel exactly the same way.

  • ..very powerful song.. no wonder it's used for so many movie trailers.. :)

  • This song comes on the movie "We Bought a Zoo" trailer.

  • love the song, love the band..confused on what the music video is suppose to symbolize....remeberence of childhood youth?

  • @cyanimide2 I think it could be about a lot of things. It could be pretty simple, like if you spend your life "sleeping" you'll never "fly." I personally get different things depending on my mood, lately it's been about growing up (kind of). About how you have to learn to have faith in yourself and not depend on other people.. It's motivational, I guess. Just look for symbols that speak to you! :)

  • wonderful...

  • The most beautiful song ever.

It mkes me happy everytimes i listen to it!!!!

  • my favorite song in the world.

  • My sisters dog died today. I'm glad I found this video on Youtube because it cheered me up at least a little bit. I had a very close bond with that dog. I have one of sigur ros's albums but I definitely want more.

  • this is too cute

  • This song feels like LIFE to me. Although I don't understand the language, it sounds like joy, and enjoying life =)

  • Oh I wish I knew that language. Anyway I can feel everything that they tried to express and this song makes me move on despite all the problems I have ever got. Life is not perfect but It's the most beautiful thing. Just remember first green leaves on the trees in the spring or a man's returning to life out of a coma. I feel so excited after listening that

  • I've been listening to you for years and this will always be one that seems to speak personally to my soul. Thank you for sharing your love.

  • Anyone have a crash coarse in Icelandic? Not that you need it to enjoy their music, but I would love to know the words. It must add meaning.

  • I don't know if you guys know this, but this is an early preview of Grand Theft Auto 5.

  • Hoppipolla has the profound ability to tap into every happy moment you've ever had and release it all at once, without even the support of understandable lyrics. Ive never heard anything like it. It truly is, the greatest song on the planet. True Brilliance.

  • i play this song when my bf shoves his bbc up my ass. Epic!

  • What a beautiful song and video. It's making me cry

  • A kid at my school passed away a couple days ago, he was young, too young, we are making a film in his memory in film class and im hoping our teacher will let us use this song for our project.

  • When I'm old and grey. I want this song to be my the last song I'll ever listen to.. Like, as soon as it hits the last note, I'll just peacefully close my eyes and rest forever

  • First it was great because Sigur Rós did it

Then it was amazing because it was the song Disney uses that i always thought was pretty

Then it was awesome because of this video

Then it was amzingly awesome because i translated the lyrics

  • This song is one of the few that truly touches my feelings...

  • this makes me want to pour out my feelings to the love of my life.

  • hahahahahahaha jkjkjk sigur ros is so good i get orgasms when i listen to it

  • god what is this garbage music

  • @MrBlakewarner It's the garbage music that saves souls. Maybe you should find one.

  • @unforgettable903 haha that's so funny last time i heard that one i laughed so hard i fell of my dinosaur

  • @MrBlakewarner :O I WANT A DINOSAURRRR

  • @unforgettable903 rofl copter

  • This song saved my life 4 years ago, I will forever listen to it. <3

  • 1:09, its Che Guevara!

  • After I got over the terrible pain of having something of mine taken from me, I began to think how bad everybody else must be feeling. It wasn't a nice time. But listening to this song always cheers me up. I feel whole again. I find that most icelandic music represents the beauty of life. I am icelandic and canadian. I listen to Sigur Ros because they show how life is beautiful and how you have to embrace it, and not think of the negative things. Love, live, embrace. :)

  • @Hope78634 I totally agree. I respect what you said and you yourself. Sigur Ros rocks!

  • @Hope78634 Thank you.

  • They say elderly people do go through a second childhood. This video reminds me of my grandmother. At 93 she's still very happy and playful; I want to be like that at 93.

  • Is this the song they always use in movie trailer?

    It's so excellent.

  • i wonder if this is where halldor helgason and eiki got the name for the brand. i know halldor has one of sigurs songs in his video part in They Came From

  • This song is beautiful. This song is amazing. This song is... Is... a savior.

  • this video would have 100x more views if people knew the name... Thumbs up if you agree

  • "Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what happened."

    -Sigur Ros

  • "They say an old man is twice a child"

  • Probably the greatest song ever written, or at least extremely close to that status.

  • @OomorganoO How can you tell her she's wrong when she expressed the same thing you said yourself? You said that people have different tastes. Hers is music of this nature as opposed to more mainstream music. Thus, in her opinion, this music *is* better. You can feel free to disagree all you like, but don't attack someone just because they see things differently. It isn't very mature.

  • lol chicane

  • Amazing song, amazing band. Proud to be Icelandic :) Peace.

  • @Biggithor1 I am a proud icelander myself ;)

  • I don't think you even have to understand the Icelandic language, which is beautiful in itself. Just watching the video, you know what it is about. I wish I could relive my childhood. Especially in these difficult time we live in today. This song always makes me remember my childhood. This group is amazing.

  • this song makes me happy that i'm young(even if the ppl in the video are old)

  • @tacogrl14 to bad your innocence doesnt allow you to understand the meaning of this song. And your ignorance doesnt allow you to understand that one day, you will be one of those people in this video. But thats only if someone or something doesnt take you first.

  • it's Sigur Ros, not Ross ;)

  • "Aging is inevitable, Maturing is optional"

  • @Thekids88 Well put by someone who's username is the kid, no pun intended

  • I don't think that people understand that this isn't icelandic that is being sung it's just made up sounds that still somehow convey a beautiful message.

  • @sharpie9182 Brosandi, hendumst í hringi, höldumst í hendur, allur heimurinn óskýr nema þú stendur rennblautur.

Of course this is Icelandic, why would you say that it isn't? And don't try telling me it isn't Icelandic, I'm Icelandic myself.

  • Thank you for uploading. This song saved my life--thank you for giving me a reason to live and survive the days. Love from Denmark.

  • @xxMarinesoulxx never give up.dont suicide.no matter what the hell happens.life is worth living.love,666 sataninside

  • @XXXLargeNeptune I'm never committing suicide, I'm just saying that this song is literately, the song of my life. No matter how much sadness there is in life, there's the little things that truly make the difference.

  • @xxMarinesoulxx search for poppiholla by chicane it's a decent version of this song. btw i'm a quarter danish but i was born the the UK but i'm going back to copenhagen after christmas to see family, i love denmark

  • /watch?v=_OrV2O0m1wQ

    (Ambient Version!)

  • I fell in love with this song once they started singing, even though I didn't know what the hell they were saying. It just dragged me into its happiness and joy in life and how old people still have that heart of youth. I love this song and wish I was able to sing along to it. It brings me to tears from time to time, but they are tears of joy. This song just makes me feel so happy about myself and that I am actually important. I loved it sooo much that I copied the lyrics in both languages. <3

  • I can't (under)stand the people at my new school its just "MTV" this and "(c)rap" that. Can't people understand there's more to music than just money hungry people looking for attention? I'm grateful to Sigur Ros for spreading their beautiful music to the world. The first time I listened to them, I was shaking in awe. I'm still shivering with such a blissful state of mind. I'm only twelve but I can still easily tell the difference between highly intelligent musicians and well- Others.

  • @Lioness0070

Seriously, No seriously, You are worse then those you are talking about.

This song is nice, yes I even think a lot more then that.

    But evryone has -DIFFRENT TASTE-

just like carrots arent better then cucambers

this kind of music isnt better then any other

Maybe in a few years, you would understand

i dont think i will ever experience this feeling again. and im okay with that.

  • I vow to start a wild band of grandparents when I grow old. I won't forget what its like to have fun, I won't "act my age" and I sure as hell am going to jump in puddles, because that's what life is all about. Who's with me?

  • They played this song at my sister's wedding. I almost cried, but I maned up.

  • 1:28 JONSIIII :D

  • made me realise how much older people long to do the things that they did in their childhoods and what its like to feel young again

  • Awwwww <3

  • Did anyone else see this song in that new movie trailer about some zoo? I was so happy that people were finally hearing this amazing band, but so pissed that I probably won't have them to myslef anymore.

  • @mulciber19 damn I love Germans

  • Also I love butts.

  • Words cannot accurately describe how this song makes me feel.

  • @NiXXiwanderlust sigur ros will do that to you :)

  • IGNORE THIS COMMENT, becasue theres just somethings you cant express with words.

  • @lalaluvu1980 Because my penis becomes fully erect (15 inches) when I listen to this masterpiece.

  • @pattis032 Good one (: haha

  • The video was beautiful and the song is even better. But the weird thing that I caught was that at 1:11 one of them is wearing green shoes. For some odd reason, That makes me happy.

  • I don't know why I'm on the verge of tears.

  • Sigur Ros you are my Sigur Ros!!!

  • One word describes this piece. Beautiful. ;..)

  • why do i cry every time i watch this?

  • it's sigur ros, not sigur ross

  • Something about this song actually made me cry. It was wonderful.

  • There's a magic quality about this song, so I love the idea for this video. Childish fun for an older generation. Lovely!

  • I LOVE ICELAND!!! I think it would be the best to go to!

  • I played this song for people at my school a few years ago. They didn't like it- My reaction? I looked at them like they were aliens.

  • @Lioness0070 Im about to do the same with my english class. hopefully i hav a better reception. ^_^ lol

  • @Lioness0070

    Your school disappoints me.

  • A beautiful song.

  • They look like they had fun making the video ^_^

  • When I first heard this song, i didn't understand it at all, because ofcourse I do not speak or comprehend Icelandic, but the music itself was so clear and potent I was still moved by it, nearly to tears in fact. It's so amazing the way music is just truly universal that way. So beautiful, so very very beautiful.

  • @Spade1350 you understood the vonlenska

  • One of the best videos/songs ever. Seriously.

  • /watch?v=M7CdTAiaLes, last song, at the credits...

don't care if you thumb down, up or spam, just wanted to show you.

  • i pretend i know what there saying :) like if u do so too :P

  • When I see old people enjoying life, I instantly feel indescribably happy. It gives me an absolutely priceless kind of hope and reassurance that I don't even realize I need until I feel it. For a brief moment in time, that humanly inherent fear of my own mortality that normally creeps about in the lowest recesses of my consciousness is swept away, and replaced by an almost enlightening sense of acceptance, and I am able to embrace my place in the universe, however small it may be.

  • @Bidon45 Well/beautifully said.

  • Its like a timetravel?

  • @Randy83092 go die in a hole

  • @Randy83092 nice pair of troller skates :p no one likes nickleback

  • @Randy83092 Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @Randy83092 not being mean or whatever, but you really can't compare the two bands. They're nothing alike, so you're comment is invalid. I don't mind nickelback, but they're way off from being even remotely comparable to Sigur Ros. Different sound, languange, vocal stylings end everything. Sorry to rant, but yeah. That was kind of out there =P but the troller skates comment was funny lol

  • also a wonderful song
