Saw her in June at the Hollywood Bowl w/ a live band. she was excellent her voice is clear, strong and sounded just like the record but she did some changes like all good musicians do when they play live. I will see her again any place I could.
Bjork was so impressed with them, they opened for her tour last year! This song was the only one that caught my attention...The rest of it sounded like reggae/dancehall stuff. I hope they keep making music like this.
Whoever is Miss Santogolds producer needs to get off the fucking pot and get more music videos out there. Santogold watches, t-shirts, tennis shoes, music , pencils!!! I want my Santogold and I want it now!!!

i dont know about alicia keys and all that but she can't be compared to M.I.A santogold is wack this is a joke her best record was the commercial with pharrell and that other dude please stop try reggea or something cuz watever you doing now needs to stop
Wow, someone below said she can't be compared to alicia keys and keyshia cole. Ummmm....obviously she's trying to do something different than them. She's not trying to be some soulful black girl who can "sang," she's trying to sing the kind of music she obviously likes, which can be something different than r&b.
Santogolds got a more new wave, dub and punk influence the only thing similiar between M.I.A and Santogold is the Electronic sound and mabe something to do with the way they dress?
yeah I definitely agree. I think people thought they were more alike because before the only tracks people knew by her were Creator and Shove It, and maybe L.E.S. Artistes. Those sound more like M.I.A. than all these new tracks coming out
wait a minute, where'd the accent come from? this girl was raised in Philly and attended private schools. At least someone like Rihanna is actually Jamaican or whatever. These M.I.A. type girls just seem so contrived.
I didn't say jack about her race, don't put words in my mouth, I just commented on her fake accent, trying to be something she's not, but I guess authenticity and honesty in music aren't important to you. It'd be like someone like Robin Thicke, who was born into wealth and grew up in Beverly Hills out there trying to pass himself off as a hardcore punk or something. I don't respect posers, even if "their beats are dope yo".
There are many singers who have an 'accent' when they sing, Karen O has a very distinctive singing voice, due to the inflections that she uses, and the hap-hazard way that she plays with pitch... It's very comparable to many 'foreign' singers, who's accent is undetectable when they are singing...If Santogold had a jamaican ( which btw who have u heard with a jamaican accent like that?) accent while she was talking that would be a different story...
Though they do sound similar, Santogold and M.I.A. are not the same animal...M.I.A.'s voice has a rougher quality about her voice, her beats and voice are more juxtaposed, which is her own sound...Santogold's voice/beats are meant to have a smoother quality, her music is more influenced by New Wave, M.I.A.'S is not...So, don't fault other artists on YOUR inability to recognize the difference...And btw, since when was Robin Thicke wannabe hardcore punk?...
Wow, u really have some maturity issues...I would almost be offended if you knew anything about music, or didn't constantly exhibit a lack of intelligence and class. But, why don't u continue going through life making brash comments about people and their music, I've just noticed that most people that sit and try to categorize and demean someone else's talent, it's because they have no talent of their own to be focusing on...
Why don't you get a life and watch videos of ppl you actually like...
dude, anyone who considers this contrived, calculated, shopping mall, drum-machine, wannabe urban underground, 80's re-hash lack of originiality "music" must not know much about music themself and really shouldn't be passing judgement lol
I'm sick of all you pretentious, fack ass poser indie fucks who are more concerned with their Hot Topic image than with the substance and authenticity of their music. Go on supporting your "nu wave" POP, I'll stick with REAL music from REAL people thank you
She brings it hard live. The rhythm in this video is awesome.
