Algebra isn't all that difficult. Just a PITA sometimes. Trig...now that gets 'fun', especially when you involve circles, ambiguous triangles, and identity proofs. I agree that some background in calculus (like pre-cal) should be the minimum for college. If I had taken pre-cal, college math would have been easier. The biggest thing though, is having the right teacher/professor. It makes ALL the difference!

@dndpresentations Algebra is very easy trust me. Geometry is way harder trust me on that one. Algebra 2 in fact is easier than Geometry. Geometry is harder because it is more visualizing than Algebra and it takes longer because there are more shapes. I can't wait till Algebra 2 no more Circles hurray! However Geometry B is like Algebra 1 pretty easy.

I think it's ridiculous to advocate Algebra II as a minimal math requirement for college. Surely the bare minimum is pre-Calculus, if one wants to avoid remedial math, and Calculus is almost always a good idea as well. Math isn't tough, though; it's too often taught by unqualified teachers.
