I haz a question: I have a pedal from a Rock Band drum kit and I wanted to know if I can use that pedal as the Action Button for Time Crisis 2. The plug fits in the gun and I don't know if it could work.
@cmar3217 That's a good question. I had the same theory myself when I bought the gun. Unfortunately I don't have a RB pedal to test with. Let me know what you find out.
I have a Nyko Super Cobra, it is the only light gun that I have for my SEGA Saturn, I use it to play The House Of The Dead, Virtua Cop, and Virtua Cop 2. However, I've been having some major problems with it, the calibration is always off no matter how many times I set it, and I can only accurately fire at the middle of the screen, when I aim somewhere else my bullets go somewhere that I wasn't aiming, or it reloads my gun. Do all SEGA Saturn light guns have this problem?
Hey I have another question. I bought a guncon 2 but it doesn't seem to have any adapter for the video RCA. Do I need one? If not, how do I set it up?
@G00ms Someone actually asked this question about a month ago and my response was too long to fit in the comments section. I will send you a copy/paste PM that might help you get the Guncon 2 hooked up without the composite adapter. I will look at amending the description for this video to include the information later as well.
Your light gun reviews are very interesting. :) I have a question, though. Can I use the Nyko Super Cobra while playing a PS1 game on a PS2? I recently got Die Hard Trilogy, and I play it on the PS2, but the game isn't compatible with the Guncon light guns. Thanks.
@Valdsator Thanks for watching! The Super Cobra should work just fine with a PS2. I am using a PS2 and the Super Cobra to play Project Horned Owl in some of my other videos. Make sure the Cobra is set to Justifier mode and Die Hard Trilogy recognize the gun. And as always, make sure you are playing on a CRT TV. :D
Hi, nice review. I have a question, I have that exact same gun (Nyko Super Cobra) and was wondering if there is some way to make it work for Time Crisis 2 on the PS2? I have tried it and it doesn't work for me.
@G00ms From what I understand, Time Crisis 2 should be fully compatible with Guncons. As long as the switch on the side of the Cobra is switched to "Guncon" mode, it should work. This was changed in Time Crisis 3 and that game requires a Guncon 2.
@wip3outguy7 Could you test yours with Time Crisis 2 and see if it works? I would apreciate it greatly if you would let me know if it works and what exactly you did to make it work. I have the Cobra switched to Guncon and the game recognizes the gun, when I fire the screen flashes and it makes the firing sound, but I can't select anything from the menu.
@G00ms I wish I could, but I accidentally destroyed my TC2 when I tried to remove a label. All I have is TC3 now.
I know this is a silly question, but do you have the video cable plugged into the video feed coming out of the Playstation 2? If so, maybe there is a short in the Cobra's video cable. I could see how that would result in Time Crisis 2 reading the Cobra as a Guncon, but not registering shots.
@wip3outguy7 Yeah it is plugged. It even works fine with Time Crisis 1 and Time Crisis Project Titan. But these are PS1 games, could it be that the Cobra is not compatible with PS2 games at all?
@G00ms Sorry, I missed this one. I believe Time Crisis 2 does have Guncon 1 support so the Super Cobra SHOULD work. Have you tried the Super Cobra with another Guncon compatible game to make sure that function works?
Thanks for the review! I ordered this and found out it works on both PS1 and Saturn. Meaning I can finally play both Horned Owl and Virtua Cop with the light gun. Can't wait till it arrives!
wich is more accurate? you know i have another Nyko gun model, and the accuracy is not so good..it trembles all the time, and u can see it when you try to calibrate it, but with this Super Cobra model, is like using a Guncom 1?
@BIMBOBOOP The Guncon 2 is by far the most accurate light gun I have ever used, if you don't count arcade cabinet guns. The Super Cobra is still very accurate if the built in calibration is used. I still have not had a chance to use the Super Cobra's Guncon mode as I do not have any games that would require it (Time Crisis 3 requires a Guncon 2).
The trembling you experience is probably caused by a weakening CRT TV or a scratched light gun lense. Or the sensor on the gun could dying.
You might be able to use an adapter to connect it but I doubt the adapter would recognize the light gun. Light guns and control pads have completely different PCBs.
brother just bough a super>Cobra and the laser pointer in the gun is broken so i can shoot, but not point at anything so.... its pointless lol fail.

@G00ms That is odd. I think the back of TC2 even lists Guncon compatibility. I will have to get another copy and try it out.

What if i use RFswitch???willi be able to use any guncon?
andree1991 1 year ago
@andree1991 You will need an adapter for the Guncon to work. I may do a video about the adapter later.
wip3outguy7 1 year ago
@wip3outguy7 That or you could just buy some AV Cables for the ps2 there a lot easier to find and cheaper then a adapter
ResidentFortress2 1 year ago
@ResidentFortress2 This is true, but he might not have an AV capable TV.
wip3outguy7 1 year ago
@wip3outguy7 Yea that is true but i did hear something from my friend that you can buy a coaxial adapter witch gives you AV Cable support

Sorry that sounded dry. I'm excited to look for one of these blue supers. the guncon2 sounds to be a bit niche like for two or three games.

Can all ps1 light guns be used with the ps3 (with an adapter)
RSXemperor 2 years ago
There is no port for a ps3 to plug an older controller into.
the only controller that works with a ps3 is of course, a ps3 controller.
