  • you're great man!

  • You're very good buy your kinda wannabe Mike.

    5/5 anyways

  • The Drumming is good , ur timing also(could be better) but u play beats different then in the real song? why?

  • well i just felt it sounds better this way, and it also shows that it's actually me playing drums. doing the exact same thing would be boring kinda ;)

  • pretty good playing

    horribly cheesy though

  • haha first time someone says that !

i love being considered cheesy ;)

  • this guy is great, im learning this song right now and its perfect for drumming!

  • Fuck i love double kick's.. Good work man.

  • nice sound!!

  • Yeah man, I have to agree with you!

The new DT stuff is not the same, now John Petrucci do not even use clean sounds, only distortion! The early days ruled...

btw, The Odissey is THE SHIT, I fucking love it.

I saw S-X and DT last year, the best fucking concerts of my life!

And now I saw on your profile that you like Roddy, you have a good taste man! Hate Eternal and stuff rules too!

You play eletronic drums! Wich kit do you have? I'm thinking about affording one! I have an acoustic one

  • amazing bro!! keep on rocking

  • Wow man.. u're really good. keep rockin'.

  • hey man!! really nice, accurate and professional, my congratulation ;) u're more musical than portnoy...

  • Lol man, he's very good, but calm down... more musical than portnoy? o_o'

  • Portnoy is not musical at all.... a lot of people agree with that, Portnoy is no one, and could not become a "myth" without Dream Theater... he's not so good, he's really aproximative, a piece of wood, unaccurate, can't keep the groove and the time.. I mean, he's good, but not perfect, while all his fans think that he's god, he's the best..he's not.

  • Man, I never saw portnoy loosing the tempo, and I have almost everything from DT.

A lot of his stuff are simple, but he still have a lot of compositions that can blow our minds.

You don't think that Danny Carrey is better than him, right?

  • Danny Carrey OWN his drumming, have u seen Portnoy playing on 2003 with his yellow matter custard? ...so sad, he cannot be smooth and gentle like Ringo, he's still MP ...and believe me he's not so good, he's so rigid, in old vids I remember time going differently during a few seconds...and seeing that u know SX, Jason Rullo is A LOT more musical than him! 7/8 for MP is always 4/4-1/8, this is horrible! ...

  • Lol man, you can say things about the case that Portnoy almost never uses polyrhitms and polymetters, but he's WAY better than Danny Carrey at his compositions, that are not just ton-work or counterbeated crashes like Danny.

Danny isn't that technical, for example, Tomas Haake OWNS him.

And I like Rullo, but I think he only "keeps the beat", I don't know how to explain, he's much the same thing every time, too much double bass following the guitar riffs and etc.

  • ...and about the odd-time signatures at Dream Theater, man, it's not possible: I think that you're listening it wrong, hah.

For example, Dance of Eternity has a lot of 15/8 and 13/8 metters, and also one 15/16 and a 21/16.

It's some complex music(not the most technical, but it's really well 'arranged'), and obviously, the other guys from the band helps him at this. ;D

  • I know the time signatures in a lot of Dream Theater songs, got tabs, and played some.. I'm saying the way MP moves in odd times, the first 3 album were great to me, but his fake and triggered drums already was not my fav.. anyway, Rullo is more power, in first albums, and I don't like that much that style, but listen to "The Accolade", "The Odyssey", "Paradise Lost" .. his touch and groove is better than MP's, no way to me.. and Haake OF COURSE own'em on technique!:D AHAH but that's other thing

  • ah please, seeing that u know what u're talking about ;)I hope u agree that the GREAT works from DT(almost all in first3cds) were when there was musicality and NEED of odd times..Dance of E. is brilliant,an exception, but still kinda cold,,other songs (and solos!) are just exercises and "stairs"(?) at high speed, completely cold /watch?v=teZbA14ZSTA omg listen at the guitar from2:47..he's so unclean..anyway when SX use odd time, there's need of them, 7/8 in sacrifice, or the Odyssey, got the GPtab

  • Nice dude - how many years have you been playing?

  • Great work!!! Congratulations!

This song is very difficult to play like this!

    Success to you!

  • this is goooooooooooooood

  • great intro

  • very good

  • Very good job neolyte

    ...show must go on!

    good luck!

  • ohhhh, yes yes dude.... i'm bass player n i've played DT in small venues, anyways, dude, u do have some skills making arrangements to the drum master MP...

  • thx dude ;)

  • how many time have you been playing man? really good job.

  • a little out of time and a fake attempt at the bridge but everything else neatly clean nice effort kid! you should retape it after learning the 3rd minute bridge! nice...

  • lol being a portnoy clone would be so boring...no way i'd play the exact same portnoys play

i just love my tremendous variations!

  • then where are those so mentioned variations...??? that was my point variate much more between your snare and your Hi hat a hit or two on the splashes don't make great variations, I didn't do the comment for criticism it was just support for more VARIATIONS see ya

  • ok understood

i can do more variations but well...you know with the original soundtrack along with my play it'd be kinda weird to vary too much

    see u

  • Ha ha. I actually like your drum sound a lot better than Mike Portnoy's. I don't know what that guy does to his recordings, but he has the most sterile, lifeless "electro" snare sound I've ever heard. Even worse than Rick Allen's, and Allen has no choice because of his missing arm. Portnoy needs to listen to some Ginger Baker, or Mitch Mitchell, or Will Calhoun.

  • oh that was a big issue for Portnoy. Actually, on this album, the sound engineer trig the portnoys snare and kick without notifying him. Portnoy was so annoyed but he was forced to accept it under pressure of their first label record because too much problems and issues occur with this sound engineer and it was a sort of deal to accept the trigggers...

  • dude you're amazing!! i play the drums too but i'm not near that good

    keep rockin! 8-)
