Most of those casualties were innocent civilians...the place the raid occurred was an open-air market. When the battle started, those civilians got caught between Aideed's militias and the deltas. Also, even the delta members admitted that once the battle started, they started shooting anything that moved.

There is just war and valid responsibility to protect people. As a Canadian, I can say that as a member of the rest of the world, we do not blame America for not intervening. It has to be a collective effort. And Canadians are in Afghanistan, the world is not mad at us for being there, although, the effort is highly unlikely to succeed. I think the world is mad about Iraq, as the intentions were not just in this case.

This event, Black Hawk Down, was President Clinton fault alone. He sent highly trained soldiers into Mogadishu but refused to allow them to take the Abrahms tank and BRadley fighting vehicles. HE was concerned about "world Opinion". The planners wanted the arnoured vehicles but he refused to let them. It is Clintons dabacle alone.
