Hey guys, I have a stupid question. Do you need to turn the device off every time you are done or the sleep mode is fine? I hear if it is a static image it does not consume energy?
I just got mine yesterday and love it BUT what's up with the wifi? It says my wifi is connected and it shows the bold icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen but it will not let me connect to the Reader Store, Browser, Public Library, and Google Books. I've been able to connect to all those things like about 4 times since I got the PRS-T1 yesterday. Does anyone know what's going on?
- on what map in the memory stuck u drag and drop the files ? or is it really needed to use aprogram to put it on the memoy stick ? ( and yes pre converted books )
@goodereader hi i'm new to ereaders and i have a quick question, i have like 13 K + ebooks on my pc (ofc not offially bought) and i would like a device to store em on and read so here are my question
- Can i put unofficail ebook (mobi, epub, txt, pdf, lit, DOC) on and read em without problems like format and/or worry about not being bought from a ebookstore to be able to read them
- i also have some comic books (atm in CBR) is it possible to read those or need to be converted ?
@jochempetit Did you already find out? CBR cant be read by it, you have to convert it. You dont need to use a program, you can just drag them to the root or any folder you make, but programs help you editing metadata and keeping them organized with their proper title and author. You can put pdf and epub that werent bought from you, at least I have. Im not sure about the rest formats. It doesnt support RTF, which the old model used to support.
My new e-reader PRS T1 worked for PDF files and non-DRM books but the first DRM book I attempted to transfer to it simply wouldn't work. Adobe's DRM login on line (via computer) works but the Sony e-reader's login does not even though I'm using same login ID and password. Not at all happy - it's going back for refund.
@goodereader I'd want to use this almost solely for reading pdf documents. With the freehand highlighting does it save the scribbles on the pdf file for easy export? Do you have any images/examples of an exported file?
the only problem I had with this product was reading pdf files, even if they had embedded fonts.it cant be done.I returned it and am now thinking of getting a playbook.
@Jorox95 The Sony came down in price lately, 129 in the USA and 149 in Canada, I would go with the Sony because its touchscreen and has way more features for your money.
Thanks guys - that was great. I love the size of it for commuting, and the ability to make notes - I need to do a lot of proof reading. Does it have a 'night' display, like where the background is black and the text is white?
Hi, and thank you for your informative review. I've two questions, please:
1. I have had my sony reader a couple days ago and trying to connect to internet through using my laptop as a hotspot "WiFi" but the internet is VERY slow on the reader and actually did not open any page any time I tried. Is it the usual or because this is thru hotspot WiFi? with the note that my net on the laptop is very good speed.
2. is there an infrared on this device, how to use it?
Thanks for the vid!!! however.. I wonder can you handwrite on top of the different books formats as if reading a normal book? can you save it afterwards and export it?..
maybe you learn something about "color balance" with your video cam before submitting such a review? As far as I know the Sony has not an orange screen.. ;-)
@haegarNL stop hating over such a detail. ALL THESE DISPLAYS LOOK THE SAME. You are not gonna find out how the display looks on the video anyways bc of the youtube video solution.
kobo ereader for $50 when borders where going out of business. Yep you don't get touch screen, you can not get to a website you wish, you don't play music, but you still can read epub, pdf, txt and wifi.
So are you ready to pay over 300% for music and touch?
Okay.. borders stores are out of business now, but you still can get simpliest amazon kindle for $79, which is about 200% less.
@vvvexor: Yeah, you can get a Kia for 10 grand or you can get a Prius for 25 grand. People pay extra for more features, like oh, say music and touch screen.
Can you download more dictionaries?
Live in Sweden and a swedish one would be nice.

Can one use this whilst charging on USB,. The older Models would not let you do this whilst charging under USB.

Which would you choose.... Sony PRS-T1 or Kobo Touch? (They are similar in price so that is not a factor).
Thx!

@andyissemicool LOL :). You can pay 18 for corolla or your can pay 25 for prius. And when you get prius you get a car even worse than 10 grand kia.
Well that's not the case with the reader.
