so, have you been to Systema seminar, or do you just have nothing better to do than make fun of what you don't understand? I have Vladimir Vasiliev Systema Spetznaz dvd's. He has been trained Russian special operations, been on many missions behind enemy lines, and survived all kinds of attacks imaginable.
Idk a lot of the things I've seen from systema look like they are only for demonstration purposes.. I.E: Weird "get barely tapped" and people cry like babies. It just does not seem possible to be hurt from a simple soft hand chop..

Hoyce Gracie is the correct spelling, as is competent not compitent. Any TKD students who thinks they are ready to grapple are foolish idiots. And as far as grappling having a place...yes it does, in almost every real fight. Now go put on your pads and practice your forms.
Krav Maga training is great, but it never hurts to crosstrain. The Krava Maga club that I am a member of also trains in Bas Rutten MMA training, and I've seen Krav Maga clubs online that crosstrain with BJJ.

funny shit, except that the KRAV MAGA part wasn't KRAV MAGA of any form or sort. I agree karate and systema for the most part are mostly useless, but real Krav is a derivitive of military combatives and is highly applicable.
Krav Maga was created for Israel army, systema was created for Russian special force. After trying both (i was living in israel and studied with V Vasiliev in Toronto) i find out Krav Maga be more brutal, but Systema better suit for special situations, such as fighting multiple opponents, fighting while wound and so on.

Systema is a rather new fighting system compared to Krav Maga, Sambo or Samoz. most of Systema's movements and drills are based off of CKM and BJJ. which Sambo and Samoz basically are as well. I´m Brazilian and I showed to a BJJ blue belt practicer friend how we use to defend from Baiana (the BJJ principal attack) and he told me that it really works but that was unfair... If your bjj friend applied your rules when you fought you'd be in for a hell of a time I think. It doesn't take much to gouge eyes or hit crotches or much less strike for that matter.
I maintain that if a BJJ guy can cover his entry with strikes and then transition to a clinch, you'd be in for an experience.

Why do not you try to stop by any Systema school and talk to them about it.... you may be even stay a live after... no guarantees, Russians do take such things seriously.
The Karate system seems to suffer from the fact that a anyone can make claims and no one has to back them up.How he chooses to train(no contact)is totally up to him, how enjoyable the system is for people who participate is what really matters. I'm sure at the majority of places the training is as good or bad as any other style of Karate, but his ego must be very small if he has to boost his members by slating other systems.

Idk a lot of the things I've seen from systema look like they are only for demonstration purposes.. I.E: Weird "get barely tapped" and people cry like babies. It just does not seem possible to be hurt from a simple soft hand chop..

To all you BJJ people ,grappling does have its place ,im trained in ITA TKD and I can defend a ground fight. Krav Maga trains against multiple attackers. A white belt of any martial art could easily stab Royce Gracie in the back if he was up against even one compitent attacker.

I believe some basic BJJ would be a great addition to any fighter's arsenal. Anyone can gouge eyes out on the ground, but some basic BJJ allows you better, more humane options. still, all fights start standing up.

Krav Maga training is great, but it never hurts to crosstrain. The Krava Maga club that I am a member of also trains in Bas Rutten MMA training, and I've seen Krav Maga clubs online that crosstrain with BJJ.

I believe those "Krav Maga" bits are actually CKM, or "Commando Krav Maga" which I understand to be a BS version...
I train Krav, and aside from never seeing those specific moves, I can tell you they violate several core rules of the system.

Krav Maga was created for Israel army, systema was created for Russian special force. After trying both (i was living in israel and studied with V Vasiliev in Toronto) i find out Krav Maga be more brutal, but Systema better suit for special situations, such as fighting multiple opponents, fighting while wound and so on.

Systema is a rather new fighting system compared to Krav Maga, Sambo or Samoz. most of Systema's movements and drills are based off of CKM and BJJ. which Sambo and Samoz basically are as well. Krav Maga has a better basis establishement because it IS combat proven. Systema is just a spin off of this art and at least 2 others.

I´m Brazilian and I showed to a BJJ blue belt practicer friend how we use to defend from Baiana (the BJJ principal attack) and he told me that it really works but that was unfair... If your bjj friend applied your rules when you fought you'd be in for a hell of a time I think. It doesn't take much to gouge eyes or hit crotches or much less strike for that matter.
I maintain that if a BJJ guy can cover his entry with strikes and then transition to a clinch, you'd be in for an experience.

Why do not you try to stop by any Systema school and talk to them about it.... you may be even stay a live after... no guarantees, Russians do take such things seriously.

The Karate system seems to suffer from the fact that a anyone can make claims and no one has to back them up.How he chooses to train(no contact)is totally up to him, how enjoyable the system is for people who participate is what really matters. I'm sure at the majority of places the training is as good or bad as any other style of Karate, but his ego must be very small if he has to boost his members by slating other systems.

It must have been from a lame Krav Maga school.My understanding is that in Israel there are alot of "Krav Maga" places the way there are Karate of Kungfu places in the US.Whatever that school in the video showswhich, well, he only shows a few clips)is probably the worst he could find.I've seen very lame Karate videos,but I've also benefitted from very good Karate instruction.Now that I am training in Krav Maga,it doesn't matter to me if someone,somewhere happends to teach bad Krav Maga.
