Tiny wheels sucked, trust me. I've been skating since '87 and any wheel that went down past 50mm was just marketing hype. 38mm's??? Really. getting caught in every sidewalk crack is real fun. Pushing every four feet is real fun. The only advantage was you could do nose and tail slides on ridiculously small curbs but who the hell wants to see that?

Big pants were comfy though. The downside was you couldn't see your board flipping under you.

I always interpreted the hippy-to-raver-to-hip-hopper movement as a big attempt to blend in with the street people we were creating around everyday, lol. Plus, it was sometimes funny watching Powell try to deal with it all :).
