Tiny wheels sucked, trust me. I've been skating since '87 and any wheel that went down past 50mm was just marketing hype. 38mm's??? Really. getting caught in every sidewalk crack is real fun. Pushing every four feet is real fun. The only advantage was you could do nose and tail slides on ridiculously small curbs but who the hell wants to see that?
Big pants were comfy though. The downside was you couldn't see your board flipping under you.
control, control... that's what the magazines said too.
As for me, my wheel size was dictated by finance, not fashion. One man's dead Rat Bones were my hand-me-down treasure.
I always interpreted the hippy-to-raver-to-hip-hopper movement as a big attempt to blend in with the street people we were creating around everyday, lol. Plus, it was sometimes funny watching Powell try to deal with it all :).
Believe me, when concave came back sometime in winter 94/95, noone was more relieved than me

i love the baggy days of skateboarding....tight pants look really gay especially with long hair. sometimes i get confuse whether its a dude or a chick im looking at.... i was born when this vid was made :D
the small wheels helped everyone gain a board control that we didn't get from huge wheels and wide decks way too heavy all around.....the pants were a fuck you to all those tight ass grippers smugglin' grapes.......we didn't want to be accepted just innovate, no cash just skate and the girls dug it so whats your problem?
Baggy pants or not..again..please anyone? How can I get hold of that damon byrd part?! Have´nt seen it since 1992 when he really inspired me to learn some backfootflips..Should´nt be impossible to find it somewhere?..and If anyone has the whole union-right to skate vid, then put the shit out there hehe cause it´s frekkin nostalgic!
Yeah I do know what you're talking about Stereotype. Also had Andrew Reynolds as a kid too and the Rocky Theme song. I used to own that vid until recently actually. Had Frank Hirata's part...forgot the title though!!!!!
Hey, I'm looking for an old Union Skate vid, can't remember the name, but the box had a pistol facing backwards, had someone skating to KISS I was made for loving you and someone skating to Rebel Rebel. anyone know what im looking for?

I remember watching this video in 93. This part is 17 years old and is better than most pro's parts today in 2010. Kris is a LEGEND.
