Wow, when people support, they cn say sm extreme stuff. This sounds more on the experimental side as far as Hip Hop goes. This isnt BANGIN' as sm ppl hv said. This definitely is nt WACK either. Like I said, more experimental in concept as far as Hip Hop goes. I see what Mos Def is doing. I have to listen a few more times before I "gush" all over it like some of the comments. I'm old school and I do knw what Hip Hop is in case any1 wants to assume I like the trash being pumped 2day
I dreamed that mos came to a riot and i asked him to do this song and the riot stopped. Then he came to a bar with me and my friends and talked about kurt vonnegut.
I watched the second episode of Dexter last night where Mos is introduced and later that night I dreamed I met Mos in NY and he introduced me to Talib Kweli and Lupe Fiasco. I will be only listening to those three dudes today :]
Magnetic the flows are athletic dimensions are perfected whether static or kenetic it's power past pressure and mass beyond measure you can place him wherever he bed stuy forever
hip hop is so underrated. Now a days, all kids want to listen to is uneducated rappers talking about money, drugs, disrespecting women etc. I don't understand this generation. I wish music was still like this right now where you can feel the groove and the rhythm from the lyrics and the beat
If you like artists like Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Nas, and J. Cole, I think you'll like my music too. Check out my singles “Microphone” and “Calm Before The Storm”, and tell me what you think. Any feedback is appreciated. I promise I don't disappoint.
The only bad thing about this song is the fact that it ends at 4:24. My heart breaks at about 2:51. It's just so beautiful. You really don't want the song to stop.
This SHOULD be the mainstream hip hop. I'm just sayin it would make more sense if the stuff that was actually good was the stuff that most people listened to.
I wish More FEMALES were into this Hip-Hop!..& not just concerned about what they can shake their ass too. FEMALES that actually listen to lyrics. Most females are just groupies now and only listen to a artist cause they "good looking" or whatever reason. & what's even worse the artist they like are disrespecting them in most of the songs. when have you ever head Mos disrespect women in his music?..I can't recall. it's usually trying to uplift them. But yet this gets no shine.
@6angelo9 how old are you? Cuz I felt the same way till I went to college. Idk if it's the same at all schools, but at my school most of the smart girls who are good looking are into good hip-hop and good music in general.
@6angelo9 dog i get what ur sayin it was that way at my school before it let out an there was this chick i liked an went with i thought she had a good taste in music just cause she played the piano but she played me an she was just like the rest
@6angelo9 im a female, 16 and i fuckin love hiphop. not all this lil wayne shite on the radio, REAL hiphop with REAL lyrics. mos def, immortal technique, biggie smalls. and UK hiphop of course cos thats where im from.
@6angelo9 That's a rash, general statement to make based on the few hundreds of females you see (or worse, that you haven't actually seen, but just hear about) following "rappers" and acting like groupies - as they're usually one in the same. That's like saying that most women that love sports only love it because they want to marry a sports professional. Statements like that only showcase ignorance and prejudice.
It is a shame that Mos Def and those like him don't get more press, but it's for a reason (not to mention, the press they do get is solid). They aren't, nor do they want to be mainstream musicians funded my corporations. THAT's why they aren't pushed into the bright lights of fame too often - b/c their music isn't about notoriety and glamor. It's about the message. Those open to it, understand it. Those that aren't... Well, they bemoan that which they think artists lack.
@6angelo9 Females are into this kind of hip-hop, we're just not loud about it like hipsters are loud and proud, jeez. Lots of females are into real beats, real lyrics, we're actually the quiet backbone of this movement.

Mos has always been a sentimental favorite emcee of mine. I say sentimental just because many wouldnt put him their personal list of top emcees. Hes def on my list. Mos has been one of the most versatile since rise to fame in the mid to late 90s.
All around opinion -- WIN. The track is hot from the lyrics to the beat to the atmosphere of the video. Lol i damn near screamed out at work when he started spitting Morse code.
If you don't recognize the art when you see it...clean your glasses. He's spitting out dots and dashes to words and phrases ...Morse Code y'all! Don't be embarrased; Google it. Educate yourselves...isn't that what hip hop is all about?
Mos Def is the GOAT and Ecstatic will be remembered as the greatest album of all time. It is the most revolutionary and innovative hip hop album ever made.
There's a lot of rappers that make dope tracks.
There are a few rappers who make gems.
Mos Def is one of a handful that makes beautiful music.
I need help trying to understand how good he is, I dont see it. Everytime hes in a song with other people I like, I feel like his verse is plain and basic. I wanna learn the greats of him. Help lol
If you like artists like Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, and Kanye West, I think you'll like my music too. Check out my new single "Serious" and tell me what you think, any feedback is appreciated. Its going to be on iTunes and Napster soon. I promise I don't disappoint.
Talib and Mos have definitely rubbed off on each other. If you watch Talib's: Hot Thing video, you might see the resemblense in the way the music videos are done. I'll try and see if you guys can catch it yourselves. ;)
Talib and Mos have definetly rubbed off on each other. If you watch Talib's: Hot Thing video, you might see the resemblense in the way the music videos are done. I'll try and see if you guys can catch it yourselves. ;)

Mos one of the sickest cats doing it.
I can see why a lotta cats don't like him, shit's on like a higher plain you dig? He's so different 'cause while a lotta cats were listening to the same shit, Def was knockin' John Coltrane and Miles. Def one of my favorites.
Search Eddie Pesos "Nothing Like Me" and "Hayley", Puerto Rock kid from PA droppin' ill joints on the mic.

I love these guys and others like him like Talib kweli Lupe Fiasco Common
and even Kanye West, he is very misunderstood but Kanye has endless creativity so don't get mad at him for his ego he understands he has an issue
still all these rappers (except Kanye) aren't popular enough we need to help spread these rappers and cure the ignorance

@waki1996
You're right... Kanye gets alot of crap, but he is extremely creative. His first 2 albums are classic in my opinion

I love def ... the day that Def in mainstream hip hop with no change in the lyrical value is the day the black community has unity

This is what i'm talking about, real hip hop!! This shits on Lil Wayne, too bad more people don't listen to real hip hop! There is a new group called Dark Nirvana kind of reminds me of Mos Def because of their lyrical content. They are young and upcoming, check em out at youtube(dot)com/user/OFFICIALDarkNirvana or just search Dark Nirvana on youtube or facebook. look for the smiley face! Mos has always been a sentimental favorite emcee of mine. I say sentimental just because many wouldnt put him their personal list of top emcees. Hes def on my list. Mos has been one of the most versatile since rise to fame in the mid to late 90s.

Talib and Mos have definitely rubbed off on each other. If you watch Talib's: Hot Thing video, you might see the resemblense in the way the music videos are done. I'll try and see if you guys can catch it yourselves. ;)
