Of course shogun tried to go to decision because if you try to finish a fighter like machida u get knocked the fuck out. After shogun fucked up machidas legs he started being more aggressive which was wise. Shogun should have won.
yeah shogun got robbed even when machida tried to get aggressive shogun countered him and rocked him with the right hand i think they may have figured out machidas game plan i noticed machida trys to leap in and throw a left kick to the body followed by a left cross hes doing the same things as his other fights and hes trying to leap in with his left knee he doesnt looked like he evolved he looks the same as his last 2 fights does the same things over and over
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Machida is Champ. and won that fight. every proffesional is now saying, "on second look it was way close" too close to give to shogun, my opinion it should have been a draw. watch the first three rounds and you will admit it's close enough to give to Machida especially cause shogun didn't take it. last two on the other hand went to shogun but 4 was close as well. no one should be mad at machida he was way graceful and wasnt hanging his head in defeat he just wasn't sure cause it was close
@PLBIGELOW57 your comment it funny, sherdog posted an article where they asked alot of trainers/fighters and big john who they thought won the machida/shogun fight and all of them said shogun except of anderson silva (machida's cornerman/training partner) the strikes landed were recorded at 82-44 in favour of shogun, it was a very clear robbery and most mma fans including machida fans agree it was a robbery
Machida clearly lost the fight but I found it boring because Shogun was fighting for the decision. He didn't seem like he was hungry enough for the finisher enough in my opinion.
"I found it boring because Shogun was fighting for the decision"
machida and anderson fight for decisions, and if they happen to get a KO, then they are happy with that. Shogun always fights to finish, but it's hard to finish a person who always runs away.
Shogun fought to win the fight ... its hard to knock a guy out when you have to chase him down first and then land strikes. Machida is and has been the most boring fighter in the history of combat sports. He knocked out two guys in Rashaad Evans and Thiago Silva who've combined to beat NOBODY. He should have handed Shogun the belt.
WHo edits these videos for you guys? He's one of the best in the business hands down and shouldn't be working for two no names... :D Great stuff as always.
i thaught the fight was bullshit u dudes sound pretty fucking cool i hate machida he lost that fucking fight i did good in one damn round and that was the 3rd round.
im disappointed with Machida i think Machida is overall the better fighter he just wasn't 100% for some reason, but that fight was way close there was no ass kicking just legs lol
true say... i think machida was just lost and confused... if he would have been more aggressive im sure he would have performed better.. rematch for sure
I agree REMATCH let's see the real champ!!!! both get prepared and fight at 100% and it'll be awesome and if shogun wins then fine by me, but i believe Machida will win cause he is way smart and a great champ
@plbigelow57 Machida used some of the same techniques that have won his fights before. He wasn't out of form, it just didn't work as well. 9 of his 16 fights were decisions. Machida is a "point sparrer" who does what he thinks will get him the win. I always knew Shogun would give him trouble. But having said all that I still think Machida won the fight and that he is over all a better fighter and will defeat Shogun decisively again in May.
You must have watched the fight online or downloaded some bootlegged fight because ANYONE can clearly see or saw shogun winnning. I am a machida fan but i know when to admit who won and who didnt. But a quote ffrom dana white, "Never let the match go to the referries bc you can never now what they are going to give you, you have win knockout or submission"
Like i care... you said stfu to my comment... thats acting like a child compared to me saying Shogun got robbed which most of the community agrees with....
well before we talk about cain and brock, yall should talk about how bad brock will whoop shane carwins ass...at least i hope lol
btw sydney rice was an animal in that vikings steelers game...and that nigga came from south carolina, so Ha the cocks produce good talent lol...which btw im callin south carolina beats florida lol
so how do u guys go about the partner thing on youtube?
Seriously if Brock can destroy Shane Carwin like he did Frank Mir I will shut up. Honestly I just don't think Brock will win in that situation, but if he does I will call him uber.
To me the problem with that fight is I don't think Carwin has to be a better fighter then Brock to stand a good chance of taking him out. Granted I am not sure what level Carwin is at. Carwin looked nervous in the Gonzaga fight and I imagine he has trained to the bone in the case of a title shot. We'll see...
I think cain velasquez has a mentality that would help him a lot in a fight with Brock Lesnar. I actually think and thought before the Rothwell fight that Cain has a decent chance against Brock. I think Cain could mimic everything Randy couture did to Brock, but I think Cain would have more stamina and a more fluid reaction to some bad positions.
I think Brock is good and I give him credit, but until I see him dominate a guy like carwin, Fedor, or velasquez I have yet to see his uberness.
The Frank Mir fight does not necessarily prove that Brock is the baddest or second baddest man on the planet. Frank Mir is not rock solid consistent and his arrogance and disrespect towards Brock lesnar was foolish. Brandon Vera whooped Frank mir in the first round; Granted Frank had just gotten over a motorcycle accident, but still I have to question Frank sometimes. When you have somebody with Brocks physical attributes you cannot take them lightly.
I'd like to see that fight but the way it needs to be said is "Fedor needs to fight Brock" not the other way round. UFC is the premier MMA organisation not strikeforce. Plus Fedor had the opportunity to make that happen. (yes i am still sore about that)
Anybody else laughed when that ref got tackled from behind during the viking game?! I was drinking a beer as im watching that and all that shit came out as soon as i see the refs face hit the ground...highlight of the NFL this week!!
Hey Kevin and George do you still think Bama is better than Florida after the way Bama edged out that Tennessee game at home? Florida doesn't need a high powered offense as long as our defense stays strong. I believe Rua did win that fight oh and thanks for not beating up on my Bucs.
I had a bet on this fight and had bet on Machida, I was getting ready to pay up and then they said the winner was Machida, I though it was the most unearned money I have ever recieved.
at the very least the machida vs shogun fight should have been a draw...but a unanimous victory for machida??? more like a unanimous robbing. i think because everyone wanted to see a machida vs silva fight, that this fight was FIXED; no doubt about it. UFC now fixes fights like the WWE.
yeah you have to like...bruise the guy's ribs, fuck up his leggs, & face & shit...oh wait that's what shogun did (did you see the ice bags & legg treatment that machida got in between rounds; i wonder if he was in pain or something?).
Yeah shogun definately got screwed. Im a machida fan but he was lackluster and now that machida has the belt we won't see anderson silva fight for the 205 title. Had shogun won then silva would have beat him later on. Oh well, at least I have cedric benson and ochocinco on my fantasy team.
Shogun won that fight. and who should fight Carwin? I would say Cain but he just fought. and when you guys look at it, Randy Couture is one of the best heavyweights ever and he's basically the smallest ever.
I'll take Reggie Wayne. I'll love you forever. I'm serious. I need a WR, but I only have Cadillac, Westbrook, and Lynch for RBs. Screw Kevin haha. Give him to me.
fuck you machida was the agressor he stopped all the takedows he controlled the pace of the fight in other words thats octagon control that scores you points all I saw from shogun was kicks and failed takedowns it was a close fight but sorry Machida won that shit fuck you guys if you feel sorry for shogun buy a ticket to brazil and go SUCK HIS DICK.
Machida should be a man and say yeah i lost the judges were high as fuck. This is so obvious that mma is dirty now just like boxing.Shugun has been training his whole life for a moment like this and 3 judges robbed him those judges should all be fired and put in jail.
Love the show! Cain is a tough sob, great fight. He should slim down to light heavyweight. I believe that he'll dominate at 205. The main event Saturday night was horrible! I'm mailing Dana White my bar tab from Saturday night..... I want my $20 back! Another issue..... Why are you fighting if you don't make weight? Man up and fight at 185! I want him to gEt in the cage with the spider!
Fighters should fight in their own weight classes and stop fighting smaller guys they know they can beat.case in point anthony johnson that guy looks like a 205
fighter but goes down to 170?!!, where's the competition in that.
Yeah, I'm a diehard Machida fan and always will be BUT Shogun won 3-2 on my scorecards. IMHO the first 3 rounds were close as hell and ties go to the champ so the judges gave'em to Lyoto. Rounds 4, 5 were dominated by Rua and if the fight was judged on overall - Rua all the way.
Kudos to Shogun for cracking the Machida code, salutations to Rua fans. I'm glad that an immediate rematch has already been agreed on and I hope Machida comes better prepared next time.
i agree totally...machida is a P.I.M.P. but for some reason he wasnt on his game at all. shogun either nuturalized him or he was just having a bad fight. shogun totally had a great plan though with kicks and counters.
I would give to Machida only round 3 because of his good combination at the end of a fight. Round 1 was even and the rest rounds goes to Rua.
Simply, Rua landed more during the entire fight, he was more agressive, he wanted a belt more and of course he did a way more damage, just look at a face and body of Machida after the fight.
I gave Shogun the fight 3-2 EASILY. I would have given him 4-1 but I was feeling generous. Honestly, I'm done with UFC now. The Forrest Griffen / Anderson Silva fiasko and now this? I can't do it anymore man. I honestly feel that Dana had the judges paid off because he can't have a guy who has not proven himself to UFC fans as his Light Heavyweight Champion. This promotion is now more corrupt than boxing once was. If you don't think that Dana pays his fights off now you are an absolute FOOL!
I think the machida shogun fight is to close to be definitive either way. shogun had some great kicks and was pushing the pace, but machida had good knees and a few good flurries. shogun got stuffed on afew take down attempts and got hit with a few kicks himself. over all i think the anouncers spent to much time saying "oww nice kick by shogun" ene though machida clearly blocked it. ppl need to stop listening to joe rogan. even though i like him, he plays favorites in fights.
machida didn't "clearly" block anything. He landed most of his kicks and his elbows. He outstriked machida in every single aspect. It's not even close.
i just watched the fight again and although machida took some mean kicks, he pivoted out of some and some were only glancing blows. machida did block one or 2 of those kicks also and some of those "counters" werent effective kicks at all considering machida was punching shogun in the hands and face. i saw a really equal match up. in the end if i was judge id give it to shogun but im not....just a machida fan defending the decision
God, go look at the stats. Machida got utterly dominated on the feet. Shogun barely got punched in the face, he blocked most of the counters. Machidas body dmg and leg dmg show how bad his beating was. It wasn't even close. Shogun was completely unscathed, machida had brusies everywhere and cuts on his face.
i think they gave it to machida cuz he threw combinations shogun blocked 6 out of 8 punches machida would throw but i think when they graded the fight they didnt see it as punches blocked but as punches landed
The fight stats are out at Fightmetric and, for anyone who didn't have the eyes to see for themselves, it wasn't close. Shogun out struck Machida 82-42. 82-42! He also out-struck Machida in each of the 5 rounds. He also landed more total headshots and more power shots to the head. He landed more headshots in 2 rounds and tied a 3rd, and he landed more power shots to the head in 3 rounds. And he destroyed Machida with leg shots in all 5 rounds by a total of 49-4! Not a close fight at all.
Machida has no heart ! end of the 3rd he owned shogun with combination's,but once he got hit with that right he began to play defense all fight long, just taking kick after kick.Karate fighters will never exchange even if their belt is on the line.
Actually cecil is a karatae teacher & as I have seen accurately stated is that people hack into him because, well hes kind of goofy he moves & even looks more like a bumbling waiter or butler & even does that silly karatae chop when starting the fights he refs (alot of wcl)
I'm not sayins hes a good ref/judge but there are plenty worse out there imo mazagatti being the worst of them.
Cecil does both, though in the UFC hes only judged as far as i know.
Part of the problem is that atgthletic state comission pick who they allow & they keep the number down, theior reasoning to keep a small handfull of people rather then having litrally hundreds running around.
Nice idea in theory because they claim to be keeping the quality up but the evidence isnt present.
He's even worse as a ref, but that's not the point.
The athletic comissions sanction both boxing and mma, referees and judges to both too. There are a lot of cross-over judges from boxing, and this hurts mma because they simply don't know what the hell they're doing. They basically appoint them based on experience in boxing, so how the hell are they supposed to score an mma bout? I've watched Nelson Hamilton's interview on inside mma and he seems to have an idea, but fails to deliver in reality.
It's pretty simple. How did Machida win? If someone can explain that, I'd love to hear it. Shogun came forward while Machida ran (not because he's scared, but because thats his style) . Whatever the case Machida was backing up not moving forward. Strikes? Shogun landed countless leg kicks. When Machida did manage to put together a flurry, Shogun always had an answer with counter punches. I personally like both of the fighters, but I truly believe Shogun should be the champ after Saturdays match.
i want to see shane carwin and brock go at it. think brock is a badass but shane has almost three times the fights and toe to toe i think it will be fight of the night and knock out of the night for sure. what do you think?
It was a close fight, neither of them got dropped or rocked but Shogun did more. I understand when Dana says you can't leave it in the judges hand cos they fuck up a lot, but people saying that oh you have to take the belt, or the champ doesn't have to win to keep the belt are retarded, i don't see why in a title fight the methods of winning somehow change.
If the fight is a draw then nod goes to the champ, if the fight was close but one guy did more to win than the other then the nod should go to that guy.
This is what I meant by *close* or *draw* or *stalemate* etc. It is up to the challenger to get the W via KO/TKO/sub or that the champ is so swollen and or bloody that not even the most slope domed judge could deny.
machida being the champ doesnt have to win, he just has to not lose. i dont care much for either fighter, infact i was pissed when he k evens tfo but that's what needs to be done to TAKE a belt.
If I find a magic lamp, I'm gonna wish that Rogan fights Dana for control of the UFC.

George is wrong about the first round.
Round one = Draw
Round two = Shogun
Round three = Machida
Round four = Shogun
Round five = Shogun/draw
HoneyIEducatedTheWeb 2 years ago
dumb ass there cant be a draw i think shogun won 1,2,4,5 machida round 3
QueenzKing1228 2 years ago
Are you telling me that a round can not be scored a draw? There are no 10-10 rounds in the UFC?

I want him to gEt in the cage with the spider!
brianpmcg 2 years ago
Cain slim down? have you seen his body? too big for 205
NinjaFaced420 2 years ago
I guess the Light Heavyweight Belt is really CURSED...!!!
immortal4hm 2 years ago
When the division is as stacked as it is, it creates insanely close fights. With that said, Shogun was robbed though.
RHart51680 2 years ago
Fighters should fight in their own weight classes and stop fighting smaller guys they know they can beat.case in point anthony johnson that guy looks like a 205
fighter but goes down to 170?!!, where's the competition in that.
tristanv1 2 years ago
Diego Sanchez is doing the same them by going down to 155.
RHart51680 2 years ago
yeah i know, shame on him.
tristanv1 2 years ago
Thanks for the mention, Kev. ;)
I'm glad that an immediate rematch has already been agreed on and I hope Machida comes better prepared next time.

i agree totally...machida is a P.I.M.P. but for some reason he wasnt on his game at all. shogun either nuturalized him or he was just having a bad fight. shogun totally had a great plan though with kicks and counters.
keggerous 2 years ago
True. Shogun picked the perfect strategy and was very thorough about it.
At least Machida isn't making any stupid excuses like some fighters do.
Hotora86 2 years ago
I would give to Machida only round 3 because of his good combination at the end of a fight. Round 1 was even and the rest rounds goes to Rua.
Simply, Rua landed more during the entire fight, he was more agressive, he wanted a belt more and of course he did a way more damage, just look at a face and body of Machida after the fight.
kareem87said5 2 years ago
I really like machida, but even on my score cards he lost.
Shogun definally deserves a rematch.
Cain and Rothwell... Obviously Cain was dominating and Rothwell took like 6 unanswered for hits to the face to i think it was a good stoppage
notkroqer2 2 years ago
the stoppage on Ben was questionable but he took like 5 or 6 clean shots to the face...the ref had to step in
geewill1982 2 years ago
I CONCUR Shogun Won 3-2 Rounds...
Why didnt Shogun win? No its more why did Machida WIN!?!?!?
Shogun was 4:1 UNDERDOG and the fans that follow PRIDE FC know he had a 50/50 shot! IT would have been a STOCK MARKET CRASH! 4:1!!!
Machida is the UNDEFEATED CHAMP! There was no WAY he would lose to a DECISION.
The Media had a factor in Machida's performance
Double Shoguns PAY, Immediate Rematch!
Machida Honor your Loss and put the Belt around Shoguns Waist! Wheres the warrior Spirit?
tkflex 2 years ago
I gave Shogun the fight 3-2 EASILY. I would have given him 4-1 but I was feeling generous. Honestly, I'm done with UFC now. The Forrest Griffen / Anderson Silva fiasko and now this? I can't do it anymore man. I honestly feel that Dana had the judges paid off because he can't have a guy who has not proven himself to UFC fans as his Light Heavyweight Champion. This promotion is now more corrupt than boxing once was. If you don't think that Dana pays his fights off now you are an absolute FOOL!

I'm a huge Machida fan, but I even thought that Shogun won. I was covering my eyes like "noooo, machida's gonna loose the belt already!".
Then Buffer says that Machida won, and i actually felt bad for Shogun, not an ounce of happiness for Machida winning this.

i dont know thats what they said about shane and Gabriel and look what happen, got knocked out.
im starting to think that dana white pays people off man, shogun won that fight and yes they need to redo the cards!
skinsup84 2 years ago
I think the machida shogun fight is to close to be definitive either way. shogun had some great kicks and was pushing the pace, but machida had good knees and a few good flurries. shogun got stuffed on afew take down attempts and got hit with a few kicks himself. over all i think the anouncers spent to much time saying "oww nice kick by shogun" ene though machida clearly blocked it. ppl need to stop listening to joe rogan. even though i like him, he plays favorites in fights.
keggerous 2 years ago
how can you honestly think Machida won. Shogun won 4 rounds definitely, 5 in my opinion. Shogun dominated him.
eagledynasty81 2 years ago
did i say machida won? no i didnt... maybe u should learn to read.
keggerous 2 years ago
machida didn't "clearly" block anything. He landed most of his kicks and his elbows. He outstriked machida in every single aspect. It's not even close.
eagledynasty81 2 years ago
i just watched the fight again and although machida took some mean kicks, he pivoted out of some and some were only glancing blows. machida did block one or 2 of those kicks also and some of those "counters" werent effective kicks at all considering machida was punching shogun in the hands and face. i saw a really equal match up. in the end if i was judge id give it to shogun but im not....just a machida fan defending the decision
keggerous 2 years ago
God, go look at the stats. Machida got utterly dominated on the feet. Shogun barely got punched in the face, he blocked most of the counters. Machidas body dmg and leg dmg show how bad his beating was. It wasn't even close. Shogun was completely unscathed, machida had brusies everywhere and cuts on his face.
eagledynasty81 2 years ago
i think they gave it to machida cuz he threw combinations shogun blocked 6 out of 8 punches machida would throw but i think when they graded the fight they didnt see it as punches blocked but as punches landed
mrclutch87 2 years ago
The fight stats are out at Fightmetric and, for anyone who didn't have the eyes to see for themselves, it wasn't close. Shogun out struck Machida 82-42. 82-42! He also out-struck Machida in each of the 5 rounds. He also landed more total headshots and more power shots to the head. He landed more headshots in 2 rounds and tied a 3rd, and he landed more power shots to the head in 3 rounds. And he destroyed Machida with leg shots in all 5 rounds by a total of 49-4! Not a close fight at all.
jeremyemilio 2 years ago
ya i dont no why maybe its cause they were in LA joe rogan was high but he seemed extremely unprofessional in this fight
Newfie4646 2 years ago
Machida has no heart ! end of the 3rd he owned shogun with combination's,but once he got hit with that right he began to play defense all fight long, just taking kick after kick.Karate fighters will never exchange even if their belt is on the line.
oleHABSole 2 years ago
ur fuckin wacked dude
Newfie4646 2 years ago
Actually cecil is a karatae teacher & as I have seen accurately stated is that people hack into him because, well hes kind of goofy he moves & even looks more like a bumbling waiter or butler & even does that silly karatae chop when starting the fights he refs (alot of wcl)
I'm not sayins hes a good ref/judge but there are plenty worse out there imo mazagatti being the worst of them.
wondeboy12 2 years ago
There's a difference between a ref or a judge.
And George and Kevin: The UFC doesn't appoint the judges or referees, that's the job of the athletic comissions.
rampagesgrill84 2 years ago
Cecil does both, though in the UFC hes only judged as far as i know.
Part of the problem is that atgthletic state comission pick who they allow & they keep the number down, theior reasoning to keep a small handfull of people rather then having litrally hundreds running around.
Nice idea in theory because they claim to be keeping the quality up but the evidence isnt present.
wondeboy12 2 years ago
He's even worse as a ref, but that's not the point.
The athletic comissions sanction both boxing and mma, referees and judges to both too. There are a lot of cross-over judges from boxing, and this hurts mma because they simply don't know what the hell they're doing. They basically appoint them based on experience in boxing, so how the hell are they supposed to score an mma bout? I've watched Nelson Hamilton's interview on inside mma and he seems to have an idea, but fails to deliver in reality.
rampagesgrill84 2 years ago

PhilloBaggins 2 years ago
Shogun should have won, i was suprised when machida won.
datyroth 2 years ago
"Robbed"? HELL NO, you must TAKE the belt...Wash goes to the house!
Steadno 2 years ago
It was a close fight, neither of them got dropped or rocked but Shogun did more. I understand when Dana says you can't leave it in the judges hand cos they fuck up a lot, but people saying that oh you have to take the belt, or the champ doesn't have to win to keep the belt are retarded, i don't see why in a title fight the methods of winning somehow change.
UltimateHibz 2 years ago
if a fight is close then the nod goes to the champ. house wins the wash.
Steadno 2 years ago
If the fight is a draw then nod goes to the champ, if the fight was close but one guy did more to win than the other then the nod should go to that guy.
UltimateHibz 2 years ago
This is what I meant by *close* or *draw* or *stalemate* etc. It is up to the challenger to get the W via KO/TKO/sub or that the champ is so swollen and or bloody that not even the most slope domed judge could deny.
Steadno 2 years ago
I don't know what dictionary you use mate, but 'draw/stalemate' are not the same as 'close'.
UltimateHibz 2 years ago
No dictionary needed, they are the virtually the same. Meaning nobody has clearly won or lost. In this case, the champ gets the nod.
Steadno 2 years ago
bullshit, explain Griffin TAKING it from Rampage then.
StyleSessions 2 years ago
did you see rampage's knee after the fight? it was big as a basketball and he could hardly walk. even he said he lost it, but he would be back.
Steadno 2 years ago
where does it say he says he lost it/? He thinks he was robbed.
Also Shogun won far more convincingly than Griffin did over Rampage.
StyleSessions 2 years ago
post fight interview of rampage, he admits it. no way, griffin mangled the leg of rampage who pimp limped out the cage...
Steadno 2 years ago
there are mannny people who felt Page won that fight.
There are hardly ANY who felt Machida won. Even Machida fans.
StyleSessions 2 years ago
machida being the champ doesnt have to win, he just has to not lose. i dont care much for either fighter, infact i was pissed when he k evens tfo but that's what needs to be done to TAKE a belt.
