I have never said this about an old man before, but Martin is adorable in this episode. The way he bemoans Christmas coming to an end like a child; that we learn he takes baths with Eddie; and, that godawful caterwauling of his!
I didn't like the line that Martin says at 11:07 [to Daphne who threw the fancy sofa pillow]... "this is not the sort of trash you were brought up in". It seemed very unlike Martin to insult someone else's heritage or upbringing, nor to be snooty in any way. He had his bad points, but he wasn't like that.
@dredericktotem1245 After reading your comment I tried to figure out what Martin was saying, and although he did mention that the pillow Daphne threw was "fancy stuff", I didn't hear him saying anything about her bringing as you heard. Perhaps you heard it wrong, because that would indeed be untypical of him.
@asalmog No he definitely says it. Go to 11:04 and put it on ►LOUD◄. He clearly says: "This isn't the north of England. You don't go throwing furniture around here. This is decent stuff. Not the sort of trash you were brought up with." Earlier @ 11:00 he says: "What kind of a house were you brought up in?". Unpleasant stuff coming from Martin.
@dredericktotem1245 He does indeed say that, you are correct. But, you have to bear in mind that it is seen from Daphne's perspective, and as we know Daphne has a tendency to exaggerate to others when she has had a falling out with someone in order to make the other person look more wicked than they actually are and to garner sympathy for herself. It's Martin, he would never be so mean.
Hmm. In all the syndication versions I've seen of this episode, they never include the "People...lady with my coat?" line, which is funny because I've always noticed that she totally steals his coat.
my fav part is 4:05 and 5:55 and the knocking! i like how niles stand so close to daphne and where he took off her coat and started smelling it haha its cute!
I really think the Christmas episodes are the best! Except Seasons Two, Four and Nine where there wasn't any. I love the Halloween ones two, but like the x-mas eps, there are only a few in the Frasier library. Curious huh? :/
This is by far the best season of Frasier ever! Not that the other seasons aren't amazing, but this season seems to make me laugh the most. Thank you so much for uploading these episodes!
What I enjoy most about this episode is that it illustrates how we can distort a situation based on our point of view - Daphne's stories shows it best.
Each actors perspective was different and unique. It showed they are all individuals with different viewpoints. Perhaps they were trying to show they are human beings with individual thoughts and feelings just like the rest of us. If everyone understood and followed that concept, maybe we would all get along better. We could all learn much from this and various shows if we spent the time listening and enjoying them instead of trying to find inconsistencies and flaws in them.

It's great how they all remember things differently. Like when Daphne is standing under the mistletoe what Niles says is different, and Niles walking in after the elevator he believes he composed himself when Daphne remembers him looking miserable.
