I don’t usually like to rant about these things but this video is full of logical fallacies. I can’t name all the problems in fewer than 500 words but here is my biggest problem. If a style cannot be used in a freestyle sport like MMA (You can do virtually any technique you want) then what good is it? I think MMA still has a lot to learn from TMA but TMA has a lot to learn from MMA. If TMA doesn’t adapt then when they get into a real fight they will end up like that TKD guy Franco Lescano.
Also, let's not forget the original purpose of all traditional martial arts: learn self defense and be healthier. The fact they have beauty in forms and moves is incidental. If an ancient kung fu fighter faced a death and life situation, he wouldn't care about a perfect "archer" stance, he would rather prefer killing his agressor. It's the same with MMA today. People practice to stay in shape and learn self defense.
great bashin of MMA they fight in cages whille all martial artist sit in their temples peing peacefull if u would go back in history u would know all martial arts where intended to defend oneself and if nescesary kill ure enemy i have alot of respect for true martial artists but MMA still teaches alot of skill and needs alot of skill it might not look that way but there are alot of techniques an MMA fighter knows even tho u might think they dont and not all mma fighters are animals
martial arts are cool and actually do teach usefull holds and forms but they dont actually have practice kicking ass thats why karate guys get whooped on when the fight mma dudes muy thai and krav maga are crazy though
It depends on what Country you're in and what Karate school you go to. Here in the US there's lots of "Karate" schools which are actually Taekwondo. Go to Japan and take part in a full contact no gloves no gear Shotokan fight. Look up Kyokushin Karate if you wanna see what actual Karate is all about in a real life fight, but in competitions in Kyokushin they do not punch the head, but in practice they do. In Shotokan it's full contact everywhere.
@johnsanchez302 Peter Smit, Bas Rutten, Sam Greco, Glaube Feitosa, Francisco Filho, Andy Hug, Katsinori Kikuno, Andrews Nakahara, Mahmed Khalidov, Gerard Gordeau etc would dissagree. All karate guys and all successful under MMA and kickboxing/MT rules. Karate in America is very weak so Americans think karate is a weak style.
Everyone has an opinion on the development of BU>> but we want it or not Tadié it is one of many excerpts podařenych ....!!! OSU! P, S,.... The idea may prochazit "through the wall ".....
Great video and I am a mma fighter my self. But the difference between Martial Arts and mixed martial arts is those men who are in 80s and 90s who follow I traditional martial art usually never compete or fight. And if they do their competitions are not a physically demanding (not getting punished or hit a lot) as an mma fight. And I would like to point out I go to Dan Severn's gym and he is 52 now and still competes in mma successfully.
@TheFilbert13 You ever watch MMA, even the professionals can't throw a good punch. And the martial artists that fight against them are crap martial artists so they look really cool. But the fact is that very few MMA fighters can fight and there are so many of them walking around who suck.
Actually alot of those guys grew up in a time when "duels" were legal and happened regularly. Even in Bruce Lee's time in like the 70s in the US he had people come into his school and try to fight him in a duel. Mostly angry Chinese people that didn't want him teaching to white people. I do BJJ at an MMA gym, if you spar a Shaolin monk in China, it sucks! They're SO FAST, and when I try to clinch, they dig their rock hard fingers into my throat... They can read and catch kicks SO WELL!
Beautiful video! My greatest respects to all martial arts and the masters who made it not a art of destruction, not a art of defense, but a proative art, that seeks peace, balance and the overcoming of limits.
Could I know the names of the song in the video?(Specially the first)
good video but a total slap in the face to any mma fighter or trainer... in our class we practice techniques that work for the regular person.. when i say that i mean people who dont practice the same move for an hour.. and besides martial arts has always been used as a form of defence or attack in some way or another. now personally i would rather be well rounded in all the aspects of fighting then only being a devastating wrist manipulator...
MMA is Martial arts dude but if your talking about cage fighting then yeah they discredit every martial art except boxing and some grappling. But all and all if you say MMA your saying Mixed Martial Arts as in Martial arts mixed together to make one style.
like the video but u know there have only been like 2 deaths in an actual mma bout and i think both were amateur so its not like its really a deadly sport and martial arts have been around for hundreds of years so im sure the death count is way up there
When martial arts were used for killing others, no crap people died. Martial arts back then was swords, bow and arrow, spears, they were suppose to kill others. But since the era of the warrior is over, we don't need people walking around with swords and people that know how to kill others. That's why in Asia, the pnly people that use to be alowed to learn had to have a good mind, if the teach saw some bad in you, he will not teach you. Nowdays it's about hurting others, but no need for it...
That;s Jeremy Bullock not Franco lescano
