  • the songs are listed at the end of the video.

  • WOW

    Rest in peace Baba...

We will drum for him too at the drum circle in NW DC at Malcolm X park every sunday.

I wish I could meet others who teach and drum like that man there too.

Now I lead the circle in Dc.

We lost 2 great Baba's in the past years.

    And still we drum

    respect

  • that was his last bday..

  • Yes, but he had a slew of parties that year!

  • Great Job on the move clip!

  • Wow! What a find

I was there........in Mountain View, CA.....

Sorry, no pics or video to add. I didn't have a camera with me.

  • Amazing how I tried to give these photos to anyone-Baba after the event, and could never get anyone to "accept" them or post them. Cheesh. So did the video. It is so complex, maxed out MovieMaker 2, that I have not corrected it. However, many of these images will be used in an upcoming REAL documentary about Baba. Assume it will be shown on PBS eventually.

Still looking for name of the firedance lady. Write ma back if you know her name.

  • Back in '61 I made a request to the Symphony Sid show, in New York, for Olatunji's Drums of Passion. I stayed up and waited until 4:30 am to hear it. It was magical. Did you know that the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland used to play Olatunji's music as you waited in line.

  • Nice memories. Hope Baba got royalties from Disney!

  • Certainly hope so. Have some friends here in the Greenville area that have a drumming circle. One studied under Baba's auspices and they play pretty good.

  • PLEASE...do any of you Baba lovers have photos or video of him from this event? I can pick out cameras and videocams in the audience, so I know more exist. Hope to correct the video in a few weeks. Thanks, Carol

  • I spent a week at Omega with Baba in the early 1990's and it was an experience I will never forget...and I am still learning from those tapes. Thanks for the memories

  • Thank You, this great teacher is dearly missed.

  • You can say that again. This video will be updated soon with more completed captions and corrected spellings, pertinent websites, etc. Perhaps someone else has a few choice shots from this event to add to the show. Please contact me. I'm glad I rushed out to get another roll of FILM at the intermission.
