apparently Lowestoft used to have the highest concentration of pubs in the UK ... not surprising when you see the number you've taken pics of plus the number of ones you missed out plus the ones that are no longer there. I reckon, standing on St Margaret's Plain (First and Last) you could count something like 20 pubs all within half a mile or so ...
wish i was still living there... you want drunken violence try living in Johannesburg S.A like me, it's really frightening over here guys, we all live behind barbed wire and fences.
lol, my dad owns a cafe opposite o'riely pub, my m8s dad owns the waveny pub and Sgt. Peppers is not a pub its a frickin resteraunt! and i live near the norman warrior
Fact is every night violent drunkards plague Lowestoft walking the seafront - I hear them screaming EVERY night, throwing traffic cones, attacking cars until 3-5am. I would feel uncomfortable if my fiancee walked the seafront alone in the evening. She feels it's not safe and I frankly think she's right. I'm well able to take care of myself and I have had many encounters on the seafront with chavs and youths that I don't want to put my better half through. Not a nice place to live!
OMG!!! You so missed out the pub i work in lol.. and Hanks wowzers is now Hush Hush, how expensive is that lol and not to burst ya bubble but some of them aint actually in Lowestoft technically lol =))
Bingo, how is that portraying all us from Lowestoft badly?? I thought it was a good little film I recognised the majority of the pubs, I think you are the only one giving us a bad name IDIOT!!
pub crawls on a friday and saturday night ending up at one of the kabab houses after being chucked out of the bridge house or ziggies as it was known then..
Christ! I can even beat that one Gary. I used to go in there when it was called the Oakwood. I was there the night Mark Longthorne bit Micky Pearce on the arse for a bet. Can anyone beat that?
higins glassed a guy coz he pushed in front of him at the bar when it was the oakwoods.... had a beer with longthorne last trip.... he never changes.. ha ha .
Priceless. You left out the Ole Frank, but that's easy to do. Particularly like the bold aesthetic impact & slanted homage to Baroque in the stark sunlight glinting over the roof in the panned shot of The Trowel & Hammer - reminds one of Neil Armstrong's first step on the moon: a moment in history. I once left my entire stomach contents on the doorstep of the Trowel & Hammer after a bad kebab and pint of Trophy. Olivia Newberry lent me £5 for a cab in sympathy. Lovely girl, she was.
i miss the brewery

The pub soon to be a thing of the past due to the smoking ban.A foreign wine bar will replace it.
SAMJE123456 4 years ago
I agree, especially as in the last year alone they've opened two new wine bars in Lowestoft.
