  • Very good! I saw it first with Master Steve Smith.

  • I played this as my solo, and I got a 1 on it, and the judge asked me if I've ever auditioned for drum corps... THANK YOU JOHN WOOTON!

  • All the inverted flam stuff make it much harder! But really awesome!

  • vic firth ms5 he use in this video?

  • @vivendonolimete I am using Vic Firth MS2s

  • He's also The Percussion Professor At the University of Southern Mississippi! He's just an awesome guy overall though! :D

  • You are the ulimate percussionist if you can play:

    Timpani- Octopus 15

    Snare Drum- Africa Hot

Mallets- Chega De saudade on vibes

Auxilary- Side by Side on multipercussion

  • Those are some serious off-beats haha.

  • 2:23 wtffff

  • Dr. Wooton vs. Scott Johnson.... vic firth im expecting something soon:)

  • that dude raw

  • DR. THROWDOWN IS THE FREAKIN' MAN!!!!!!!

  • Love it, John. wait...did I hear mozambique in there somewhere? Beautifully done. My students work out of The Drummer’s Rudimental Reference Book every day!

  • @palito32 Yes, stole that from Steve Gadd! Or borrowed :-)

  • Can you play it matched as well, or is it just written for traditional?

  • @TheGhov You can play it any way you want! It isn't written for any specific grip or technique.

  • I was actually bare foot. I was backsticking swiss army triplets at 1:46.

  • He's wearing no shoes. Just socks. Because he's that boss.

  • This is the epitome of awesome!

  • Ahhhhhh that was sick!!!!!!

  • haha yeah man, i see this guy like once a week !!! hes soo awesome, and his daughter goes to my school :D

  • how easy it looks

  • @HiFisch94 Thanks, that is a great compliment.

  • what kind of drum he plays? is this a tenor snare or landsknechtsdrum or stuff?

awesome solo, nice vid, great quality

  • this is everything that music is not about.

  • @luizfmp88 YOUR JUST A HATER CAUSE YOU DONT HAVE CHOPS LIKE HE DOES

  • @shawn5618766410

Thats my opinion on music. I'm no hater. Stop using capital letters. cheers.

  • @luizfmp88 Music is organized sound. By definition, this is music. You don't have to like it. There are lots of musics that I don't care for, but somebody does. I don't listen to this stuff in my car, it might cause me to wreck. And, no one has ever asked me to come play rudimental snare drum on a gig. But I enjoy playing it because it is challenging, exciting and difficult to make interesting when you have only one pitch to work with. Cheers.

  • amazing

  • that was insane! :D

  • What a boss.

  • Dr. Wooten is also excellent on Drumset and one of the Best at Steel Drums!!

  • LOVE this solo!! I can only play it from measure 40 onwards, but I hope to learn the whole thing one day

  • Excellent, Dr. John! I'll ask Jay to check this out. He may want to revisit "Africa Hot."

  • Ryan, thanks, I think.

  • Dr. Throwdown, gay name, but badass playing
