How to Jello Shots

ice cubes are fine for "regular" jello because you're using water either way. If you sub out some of the flavoring for ice you'll be throwing off the flavor and making them weaker than intended. Using vodka straight from the freezer and refrigerated juice would work though if you're trying to speed up the cooling process.

Used to LOVE jello shots! Made them for a party once in hs & the parents thought it was just "jello" so it was awesome. But eventually they figured out they had vodka in them, at which point, they finished them off!! RUDE! And this weekend, I made a natural alternative to the jello shot: champagne infused watermelon! all you need is, like little disk like plastic cups, they are like half a inch tall, those are better than the ACTUAL plastic shot glasses..because then you dont have to even get your finger sticky by lossing up the jello or have a tooth pick in it etc. you dont need anything, except a tounge, as in since the glass is justwide and small enoung you can jsut slurp or suck it down (granted its not that big of a deal anyways, but why not avoid a thing thats just a little hassel and make it easier)

@mscutiepie2010 I sprayed the inside of the cups with a light cooking spray. You can also serve the jello shots with a toothpick which can be used to separate the jello from the cup by moving it around the interior of the cup.

Correct. 1 c vodka, 1 c juice. This makes a medium strength jello shot. If you want stronger - use 1 1/2 c vodka, 1 c juice, and 1 1/2 cup boiling water. Be sure the jello mixture is not boiling hot (cool) before adding the alcohol, otherwise the alcohol will evaporate. That is why I recommended using ice cubes. To use ice cubes, use 1 c boiling water, and then add 1/2 ice to the juice to get 1 1/2 icy juice water. Good luck! Have fun!

@sexiikitty23 These are on the weaker side because I like to make a lot and encourage people to have a lot. Making them weaker lets us enjoy more before getting trashed. You can, of course, adjust the alcohol to juice ratio to make them stronger.

@devilsangel300 If you use ice to start chill the jello.... it will set up faster, so if you dont have a few hours to let it set up, ice can help it set up in a hour or so... I drop it in as part of the cold water, get all your mixing done then pull what ever ice is left over out before you pour your shots... This also works just for regular jello...

@ebonytwig they should last several hours. I recommend you keep them in a cooler or other box like container and be discrete. Use paper cups or throw away any refuse after immediately consuming.

@heathervescent Thanks.. I poured the mix into half-cup size desert cups with lids.. they set really well and i stored them in a cooler with ice.. they lasted the whole day until 5 pm at the official unveiling.. it was a success.. and they weren't too strong so no one got hammered and unruly.. :)

If you dump the vodka into your bowl of jello mix and boiling hot water, a bunch of the alcohol will evaporate very quickly. You should really wait until the solution is room temperature before adding the vodka, but ice cubes will speed up the process.
