1 question is this the correct program to use when adding an item into a film for e.g( have a clip of me and a few mates calling in a spaceship, and then having the animated one come in a blow some shit up) is this the correct one, if not can someone point me in the correct area.
Sir, I do prefer visual tutorials. It has worked with me on my last year of high school, All I watched was discovery channel and youtube , I didn't do any homework, I passed all my finals.
Oh wow brilliant idea ^,^ I found I learn really fast with video, in program, and a person to bounce my questions off of, ie: I want to do something to a shape, or there's a problem with the process unforeseen, but the tutorial doesn't say, but I have a person near by who knows lots more than me or everything about the program, as I fix the problem myself I learn it. ^_^
I have bought Maya unlimited 2009. I am just a beginner and I know that 3d Art has 4 components ----------
1) Modeling
2) Animation
3) Texturing
4) Rendering
Photoshop is normally used for rendering. Does Maya have all the other 3? Because, I haven't seen Lighting and Texturing in many Maya 3d works. Do we need diff software for that? Some of my web-friends said that the combination of
WOW! seing this all the was form Puerto Rico. Never worked w/ any animation, cant wait to post my video, still working on it. This is GENIUS of an idea!
You have NO IDEA how helpful these tutorials are for me. I'm a very VISUAL person, so this is sooooooooo much easier than learning from a textbook. Being able to see exactly what you're doing on your screen is priceless.
this is great! I wish I had found you earlier in my Intro Maya class. Since I am Learning Disabled, I am usually a little slower than most. This "class room" will help me pace myself accordingly without feeling I am behind. Keep up the good work.
hey great tutorials i have learnt everything that u have said but.... in order to do one or your projects the one thing that i will need that i do not know is how can i create an xtra vertex on a side of a shape so that i can munipulate it better i know that i can do it when i create the object but is there a way to create one afterwards???? this would be a big help : )
Is maya much like 3DS Max? i can only download maya as i have a Macbook and 3DS Max is only available for windows. The reason i ask is that my uni uses 3DS max for projects, which i will be using next year. I just want to get a head start, so is it easy to transfer from maya to 3DS max?
I like this so must, very affective. I go to the Art Institute of atlanta, majoring in Media Arts and Animation. I want become a better animator while Im on my break before I go to intermediate modeling

Thanks mate, I'm currently still in High School down here in Australia. Is it alright if I use Maya 2008 instead of 8.5 since I do not have access to the older versions?
much appreciated. I'm currently enrolled in Full Saill university , under computer animation. I have never touched maya before, but that's all the school really uses. So I'm doing my best to become at least experienced enough, to model what they ask for this month...

Thanks for your hard work. I used to be intimidated by Maya but now I can see there are many alternatives to reading thousands of pages to try to undertand it. These tutorials are new- very new. They've only been up for a day or two. I hope that you find them helpful and that you choose to participate by posting the assigned exercises as video responses to Part Six. Glad to have you aboard.
videos are a great way of showing the public/students a different way of learning programs such as maya. I am currently learning maya, so i will keep track on these tutorials and participate in the tasks after , i think its great to get people interacting. Next september i will be goin to uni , aint sure which one to do a degree like the one you teach :) look forward to seeing more . Nathan
I hope that these tutorials help you to learn the software. But remember, the software is only a tool. What's important is what you choose to do with this tool.
Hello Professor Hull! I have been looking for something like this... I will follow Your tutorial sand let You know what I think.

By gaining access to videos like this among other topics, it will bring a leap in society as educational values increases.
I strongly support your idea, and more instructors like you should do the same.
