Guitar pro 6 is shit. Crashes all the time, can't switch instruments without making a new track, because you need to make a new track to switch from clean to distortion for example, any earlier file will remain clean the whole time. Going back to the list, slide in/out, hammer on and pull off, or even vibrato sounds horrible and/or does nothing at all. It does palm mute at all, it just says palm mute at the top, all notes are open. Its awful.
To everybody else, you all sound so annoyed and rude, you need to calm down. The Guitar Pro team is working hard to fixing the temporary bugs, and GP6 is now way more stable than GP5 has ever been. What you say about the RSE sounding bad is probably due to the fact that you didn't take the time to actually adjust the sounds.
Or maybe you're using cracked versions, and they are not open to updates, which makes them useless.
2. Right Click on the Fretboard doesn't make the curser go forward ( in my case GP6 crashes downimmediately after clicking)
3. The drum Editor = No words for that.
4. Hardcore Distortion sound? No way to get that. Open the demo file for Mathcore included in the Programm and you'll hear what the programmers think of distortion.
5. Can't change numbers of strings after editing a track.
If you're having trouble with GP6, you should probably refer to our tech support, on our website. There you'll get the help you need, including some indications as to how to properly update your version of GP6.
guitarpro 5.0 is the best, but now that they have released guitarpro 5.2 and 6 im never going to be able to download any files that work with 5.0, almost all the tabs on ultimate guitar are now in these formats. WHAT THE HELL AROBAS!!!! WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU THINKING?!?!?!?!?
@infectionsman : No need to be rude. v5.2 is merely an update of 5.0, the same program but with its bugs fixed, and you can obtain it from the Guitar Pro website. Version 6 is a new program. Of course v6 opens gp5 files, and can export into gp5 format. I don't understand your problem.
GP 6 is horrible. It crashes more than 5 did, and the RSE sound awful especially for overdriven guitars. This was very disappointing for me because I was hoping for an upgrade and it feels like quite a step backwards. The lack of a mix table was also a terrible idea. I'm sticking with GP5 until an actual upgrade is released.
I'll just add here that yes, GP6 sucks. Constant crashes. It got to where it wouldn't display (but was in the list of running processes in Windows Task Manager). I got the latest update and it would run again, but crashes when closing, and on many GP4 and GP5 files. I just uninstalled it, and I'm sticking with GP5.
Keep in mind that GP6 is a complete re-write, so what you're really getting is a GP 1.0, with all the inherent problems that come with a 1.0 version of anything.
Used GP 6 for two days now. Sucks total ass. Fucking midi files of keyboard pwns the RSE versions. Program and menu are shit. Can't find a mix table or any way to change instrument and so on the same track.
In my opinion, and every friend of mine who tried it, yes.
If you want me to explain, I can tell you why I think so.
For example, what the hell were they thinking REMOVING the mix table function?
If I want a melody for example to sweep one pan-step at a time from left ro right, do I **** have to create a new track for each change of step? Or change of instrument? Volume? -.-
And the RSE for heavier songs really isn't that fantastic.
guys what the hell, power chords and any kind of tremolo picking sounds like complete ASS on gp6. do you not have several samples for one note or something? the RSE is probably great for other stuff like this but its terrible for most metal tracks. not trying to be an asshole or anything but for one of its most talked about features its kinda poo distoriton sounds horrible. i made a tab editor using my own samples, and it sounds way better. hell i even offered you the source code and my services
@Firealinvader well consider those types of ... weird sounds .... they arent really what you migh t call music, this is a MUSICAL software, not a "i can maake shit music easily with distortion on" software, so, sorry, but this isnt the prgram you re looking for
@GuitarGuyProduction after seeing your nickname and discribing some certain musical genre as "weird sounds" and "shit music"i must have a positive answer for you:go fuck yourself, you don't know shit about guitar pro, music and production!btw you are just a kid!why you use that nick name?you make a bullshit of yourself!PALM MUTE is in this program for a reason,PALM MUTE is the weackness of this program since was first released,i don't mean to be realistic as hell,i mean DECENT!"weird producer"LOL
@Firealinvader go play your detuned distorted instrument ( sorry, cant really call that a guitar) and stop trying to be a bad-ass on internet...you've already failed in musical taste :, )
but keep on replying if you wish, it's always funny to read a 6 years old comments, do your parents know that you have a youtube account? damn where s our society going towards?
@GuitarGuyProduction i said you won't understand my last comment thats why you deleted your videos in your account,i made you do that, you are weak, you don't have self asteem, you fail teaching.don't talk to me as if you were a big deal and know everything, for me you are pointless, you know nothing about me.
@Firealinvader i agree, palm mutes sound complete and utter shit in guitar pro 6, they completely fucked it up! Guitar pro 5 atleast had working palm mute for all the different rse's, it's fucking impossible for me to get a palm mute that sounds like a palm mute in 6!
Man,the drums on this program are just crazy...if you want to put your music and you don't have music knowledge do not download, trust me...the drums do not works with numbers like guitar pro 5...LMAO!
Upgraded from Guitar Pro 5. Unable to activate the software. Repeated emails to this company have gone unanswered. Now stuck having paid for an upgrade that I can't use!!!!!!!!
@erik962010 you didn't install the full version - just the demo. One of the limits of the demo version is that you can't open anything other than the default files.
in the mean time, just hit F10 right after your cymbal note and put the volume for the drum track down to 0. Then hit F10 again where you want it to play again and bring the volume back up to where it was before.
The sound is great! But, I hope their software guys spent as much time increasing the notation capability of GP6 as they obviously have on sound! Thanks for the vid! -Derek
1) Infinite sustain sounds good, but will there be an option for guitars to fade like they did in GP5? With the realistic fade-out and the amp fuzz, I mean.
2) I really liked some GP5 tones. So much that I actually edited my effects pedal to have my two favorites in it - "Hey Jimi - Disto" and "British Vintage - Screamer Overdrive". Also, I'm only kind of liking the tone of the guitar in this preview (it fits the music), but obviously, there will be a lot of settings to choose from.
I'm wondering that about question #1 as well. In some cases, some songs sound better fading out like that (most likely, at the end of a song).

Guitar Pro is not a music producing software. It's a music notation and trascription tool.
Do you think it will be possible for me to create something similar to them with the editor in GP6? I fucking adore those tones.
