Well I was against the Iraq war and I'm against the Libyan war and whatever other nonsense war the government tries to sell us because government is bullshit.
And also on the topic of hypocrisy concerning partisan support of wars, one could easily make a case just as compelling that those on the right who oppose the Libyan war but who supported the Iraq war are hypocrites. It's a documented fact that the Iraq war was sold to the public on manufactured lies.
I'm not sure the coalition for Libyan intervention was "smaller" than that for Iraq. Perhaps there were more countries involved in Iraq (that is after the invasion only), with countries like Micronesia contributing a few soldiers, but for Libya, countries other than the US and UK and with sizable armies were highly more involved. Not to mention the US didn't start the intervention, but joined in after France and the UK. Also it wasn't an invasion. Just to say that it's not really comparable IMO.
i feel we should be introducing green alternatives.. but not force people to buy them.. bring more choices to the table.. let the people choose if they wanna go green or not. simple as that.. also we should explore alternatives to oil like algae fuels give oil some competition :P let the market work its self out.. oh and death to subsidies....

Electric cars are less energy efficient than than gas, but they are more environmentally friendly. It's not even a matter of where the energy comes from, a 100% coal based power supplying 1000 electric cars would still have less of an impact than 1000 hybrid cars that have virtually no emission control.

@HollowFlight how would you account for the runoff from the batteries? the chemicals found in such electric car batteries and cfl light bulbs that end in land fills and environment cause a far grater impact than the emissions from cars; which (when it comes to modern cars) are carbon dioxide, oxygen and water after a catalytic converter kicks in. yes there is environmental poultion and yes we need new energy technologies, but the stuff the green party is trying to fund is garbage.

And if environmentalists spent half the time and money in green tech. as investors than they do on lobbying the government. They might actually turn a profit, get more people buying their product by getting the costs lowered. And pay more into the government than they take out.

i think you are missing the point of earth hour, it's to get people to try and conserve energy, I know a lot of people at my college that leave their lights on all day even if no one is in the room, last year I knew several people that would turn the water on in the shower then leave the bathroom to do something else and come back later to take their shower
I'm not going to turn my lights off for an hour, but it is certainly useful for raising awareness
