@posro1988 i'm sure they do. i've only been caught in the rain once and that was a pretty short trip. (actually, as i recall they didn't fog up too much). but if i know it's going to rain, it stays home.
@tehsplode thanks 4 the info, i'm asking cause i was thinking about getting one for my daily driver, i just taught it would be super cool. is yours 60's or 70's model? which one is better i know that 60's is way cooler, but from technical aspect?
@posro1988 '69; so many things;not enough room. 912s aren't fast, but have excellent handling. benefits over a 911 are fuel economy, better weight distribution, and easier to work on for a diyr.(engine tuning) -most everything else is the same. only made from 65-69 using the same engine as the 356. then there was a 912E in '76 which used a type 4 engine also used in the 914). engine work is expensive for all of them. for more info go to 912bbsdotorg, search pelican forums for 911 info. good luck
Your crossing the double yellow dill weed. You will understand after you kill somebody. Driving fast is fine just do it on your side of the road. Not very twisty by my standard.
This may be a dumb question, are OWNERSHIP, MAINTENANCE and INSURANCE very expensive on these old Porsches? I think I may want to get one of these when I'm older.
it's not terrible. insurance is average of any typical vehicle. it shares the same engine as a 356, so a complete rebuild can get very pricey. do a little research at 912bbs-dot-org.
car has been off the road over the summer. working on a top end rebuild. i've replace the struts, added a 19mm antisway in front, 16mm in the rear. i've refreshed the bushings with polygraphite and adjustable springplates from a 911SC. nothing special, but it should be much improved.
Those 912's sure are a blast to drive aren't they? Especially around those twisty roads - one of my favorite cars. Yours sure has a nice sound - thanks for the vid.
Man, I envy you Americans... :) Getting a decent Porsche in continental Europe is equally as possible as getting a monkey that imitates your voice. Not if you have spare $60,000, of course.
Oh Please ! Put your foot down, Stay on your side of the road on blind corners and stop feeding the wheel like a learner. The 912 is far superior to the 911 on bends and so you can sling it round without losing your back end.
you're right. i didn't push it as hard as could be done. it was my first time out and i'm still feeling it out. i didn't think it was worth risking my buddies' life to prove anything. and i could see around every corner more than the video shows.
the handleing is nowhere near it's potential. hope to have new bushings and antiroll bars completed by the fall. if you're intersted, do your homework. visit 912bbs(dot)org , lots of great info there. appreciate the compliment
beautiful ! Love it
