I have the F179 and it's my first multimeter, you can find these on ebay as a kit with excellent leads for a decent price. I now also have the F289 and it makes the F179 feel like a toy with its giant stature. None the less, I still use my F179 more often for trivial measurements
@dan20n Great feedback, yes the Fluke 287 / 289 would make it feel like a toy but totally agree with you sentiments on which multimeter I would grab to take some quick measurements. Thanks for posting. P.S. What did you pay for the 179?
@mjlorton It was $255 USD in 2010 for the F179 as an Electrician's Kit that came with Fluke TL220 leads which I love, they have extra long soft cables, temp lead and a voltage alert monitor.
