One thing I like about these is that Dawkins doesn't talk down to the children. The lecture isn't dumbed down, he mostly just talks normally, spouting concepts and difficult words at quite a pace now and again, keeping his audience on their toes all the time. Quite a difference to the Christmas Lecture of this year (or rather last year). They were nice, but this is much more effective I think, and more respectful of childrens' ability to follow complex discussions.

It was actually a mutation into a weaker jaw that allowed the brain of an early "human" to grow in size as the jaw muscles didn't press the scull temples so much anymore. One thing I like about these is that Dawkins doesn't talk down to the children. The lecture isn't dumbed down, he mostly just talks normally, spouting concepts and difficult words at quite a pace now and again, keeping his audience on their toes all the time. Quite a difference to the Christmas Lecture of this year (or rather last year). They were nice, but this is much more effective I think, and more respectful of childrens' ability to follow complex discussions.

It was actually a mutation into a weaker jaw that allowed the brain of an early "human" to grow in size as the jaw muscles didn't press the scull temples so much anymore. Also the early human stage with it's weaker jaw muscles had to learn other means to survive in the company of creatures that had a strong bite.
