  • Nice clean classic lines Tom...however, palettizing the brush with fingers would drive me nuts. ;P To each his own brutha!

  • mother of god.

  • you need to be doing open heart surgery if your hand is THAT steady, not painting guitars...

  • good job

  • god i love danelectros.

  • Great job! I will get my Gibby Explorer pinstriped, love that look.

  • what a freak

  • don't mess up! don't mess up! don't mess up! lol

  • Doesn't match the Danelectro 60's look though...

  • where could i get this done in new zealand?

  • its all about technique and talent...salute!!

  • Lol at the people who say this is a fake guitar. Obviously it's real, strings are removed to maximize hand space. And Some pinstriping is there too.

  • Eso si es tener buen pulso :)

  • I would love a gretsch with pinstriping like that

  • thats so awesome. i have a guitar im making right now and its currently unfinished. i have a local guy who says he can do some cool stuff like that for me. he says that he can do th ecustom stuff before i finish the guitar. but the thing is i dont know if itll show through the solid white finish i plan to do. anyone know about this stuff?

  • Southern rock is synonymous with Country. Sorry. It sucks. Cool guitar, though.

  • @skull1385 thats a real guitar bro?

  • steady hands!

  • its a bit to much but going to let it do on 1 of my guitar but ten les then that

  • @kabanosi

    What?

  • i'm going to get some pinstripes my a pro on my guitar but not as much as this one this is to bizy

  • Sick and awesome!!!

  • I love it :D

  • How much does it cost to get something like that done? I want my Longhorn done

  • @dubtat I charge 60.00 an hour with a 120.00 minimum. I worked about 3 hours on this'n.

  • @ welloiledmachines

Are you located in the new england area?

  • @mknutzi

I'm in S.W. Virginia near Roanoke.

  • Nasty. Striping should accentuate a guitar's lines, not be the star itself. Tom should design a few guitars instead of covering other people's.

I've been in the sign business for thirty years or so, and have designed a ton of guitars, so I know whereof I speak.

Also if that's One-Shot he should NOT be paletting that brush between his fingers, it's got lead in it and fingertips are the best place shy of eating paint to absorb VOCs and toxins. Get some gloves, man. And show some restraint.

  • @kerranz , Restraint? Have you ever heard Southern Culture on the Skids play live?

  • Nope, but bands shouldn't have it, and striping should. Look I'm not trying to be mean, I just think the object that's being accented is more the issue. Guitars are generally fairly beautiful. What one doesn't do is more important than what you do add, and that's a hard thing to learn..

I mostly don't care for striping, but have several friends and colleagues who do it well, check out John Hannukaine, Todd Hanson, Russ Mowry,Bob Behounek-- SignCraft magazine is a good place to find 'em.

  • my god how still can you keep your hands id probably jog myself about 220 times!

  • siiick

  • That's a wicked-looking axe...

  • No mamen este guy esta bien cabron, aunque la neta yo no echaria a perder un modeo de fabrica!

  • despite it being a video, I almost feared I would mess the guy up with his lines >_>

I would've hated to stand next to the guy and make him mess up X_X

  • That's hear (not here).

  • Well that's ugly as sin...

  • Yeah, which sin is it ugly as ?

  • Yeah I think there is waaay too much on it.

  • could i do this with like a sharpie pen?

  • Try it.

  • No, just get a paint pen, they aren't that hard to find.

  • so you are applying 1-Shot lettering enamel over the original enamel of the guitar? how permanent is this? do you have to add anything over it? does it smear?

  • It'll hold up pretty good (especially if you waxed it occasionaly) but it would be better if it were cleared over with some sort of poly-urethane. It would last as long as the guitar paint.

  • thanks. if I coat it do I need to cover the entire surface of the guitar or can I just cover the new paint?

  • From what I know the best way to make this permanent would be to first scuff the original surface lightly with 1000 grit sandpaper (assuming it has the usual lacquer finish) then pinstripe, then clear coat the whole thing again with lacquer. (3 coats, then scuff lightly, then 3 more.)

  • That's the normal process except that you can't put lacquer over urethane or straight enamel. Lacquer can only be used over lacquer. 1-Shot is alkyd enamel but if you use the hardener you can clear over it with urethane, just wait a day or two after 'striping to aply the clear.

  • I use auto-air car paint for quitars and I just use dupli-color clear coat (also for cars) on it. It's lacquer and the auto-air is water based.

  • lol 0:14 "very care.. DON"T MESS UP!"

  • This is fuckin great, but to me the red takes away from the white

  • i have a danelectro, i love it!

  • All I can say is awesome !

  • This is amazing! Straight lines and I have never worked very well so I'm enamored with how good you are! Anyway, i have a baby taylor that I want to paint some swirl-things on. I don't want to do the whole guitar, just certain sections and I was wondering what paint to use, if I need to sand, and also what clear coat? Also, would paint pens work, or should I just stick to straight forward paint? Thanks!!!!

  • I use 1-Shot lettering enamel. I sand only when I am going to use a clear-coat (some sort of urethane clear). Also when you use clear over straight enamel you must use 1-Shot hardener(#4007)in the 'striping paint. Don't know 'bout paint pens, I only use a 'striping brush. You don't have to use hardener in the paint if you aren't going to clear but it will hold up and last longer if you do. The only permanent 'striping is under clear.

  • are you using paint?

im going to paint my guitar..

is that something i can do myself?

  • I use 1-Shot lettering enamel used for sign painting. Yes you can do it yourself (I've been doing myself for 29 years. Mom caught me doing it myself once and said I'd go blind so I told her that I'd stop when I needed to wear glasses).

  • lmao! xD masturbation jokes never fail to be funny

  • Now that's art!! That's sicckkkkk!!!!

  • i wILL BUY THIS GUITAR if your ever selling it!

  • Tom, I'm a car painter and practicing pinstriping. Thanks... Never thought about striping my guitar.

    Very nice work

  • Thanks

  • I saw some guitarist playing this guitar at a guitar techniques' dvd. I don't remember his name but I definitely remember his guitar!!!

  • oh nice that takes some dexterity =o... i am amazed at what some ppl can do..

  • god what a steady hand!

  • Don't know what a "rockband" guitar is but yes I can 'stripe it. It only has to have a smooth paint surface to start with.

  • dude I don't think that guy is serious and if he is hes an idiot a rock band guitar is for the video game rock band kinda like guitar hero but better

  • think u can do this to my rockband guitar?

  • Thats quality right there
