Thanbks very much for watching. Can't do a tutorial, I'm afraid. I haven't a clue what I played. Chords won't help much, but they are easily available on thousands of sites on the web.
Sire you are truely a gem to youtube. Your music is not only crisp and precise but somehow takes me back to my childhood when my father and his friends would all gather and play. Those days are gone and my father recently went beyond the sunset, Thank you for spraking a dear and loved memorey for me. Your talented in a way that can only come from the gods.
What a beautiful new uke Ken! Such a lovely sound! Although, every uke sounds great in your hands. Fantastic improvisation too. I'd love to be able to play by ear even half as well as you can.
Thanks Michelle. Learn to play lots of simple things and eventually you can string them together without thinking about it too much. this is improvisation. It not to do with playing difficult stuff.
Sounds mighty clear and clean. I really love your uke. And you're right, nothing like Jake's but your version is uniquely beautiful all the same. I think anything you play would be beautiful music.
Yes you should seriously think about going pro. But please let me take a few photos with you and sign a few of them first before you do, so when you do become a pro celeb, I would say... Ken and I are buddies.
Beautiful sounding uke and absolutely awesome arrangement/improvisation! You out did yourself Ken; I shall be returning over the next few days for further listens.
This song is forever associated with the Australian movie "Strictly Ballroom" when the young couple dance on the roof of the dance studio, and he takes her glasses off an in an instant she is transformed into a ravishing beauty.
The theme of that film is how the young people want to dance their own steps, whereas the australian western pascific dance association will not allow any "new steps"
New steps and new notes go very well together. Rent the movie for a hilarious treat and a life lesson
Stunningly beautiful music, as always! :-) I must of said that to you a hundred times! I love the look of concentration on your face, when you're in the 'zone'. Your new uke sounds gorgeous, very bright and clear. :-) X
So lovely and sure on those notes. Such a lovely instrument. The audio processing is giving you a little distortion. Perhaps a bit of feedback? Might be the reverb..dunno.
It actually sounds very much ilke the Wise ukuleles I played at Schoenberg's in Tiburon, California, made of Australian Blackwood, which I was told is a close relative to Hawaiian Koa. Those are constructed very lightly so as to be extremely responsive. Just like yours!! Congrats!!
Excellent. I might be wrong but I think that uke may have been below that Undie in your last video ;) A sign that you're really enjoying your Howlett!
Thanks Shane. And you're right. It's a lovely instrument to play. The sound is very bright and pure so it won't be so good for Dylan, etc. I will probably record the tunes from my Celtic book on it though.
Was hoping you'd give the Howlett tenor a workout! Beautiful golden honey glow to that "helium" Koa! And of course, it sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing! : )
Super nice!!! ; )
