  • Sounds mighty clear and clean. I really love your uke. And you're right, nothing like Jake's but your version is uniquely beautiful all the same. I think anything you play would be beautiful music.

  • Wow! Thanks Dylan.

  • Ken that was amazing.

    Ever think about going pro?

  • I can play OK, but I don't really have an act.

  • Yes you should seriously think about going pro. But please let me take a few photos with you and sign a few of them first before you do, so when you do become a pro celeb, I would say... Ken and I are buddies.

  • Haha. Too old, Dylan. In any case I have been a professional musician all my life, just not a professional ukulele player.

  • Ken that is a beautiful version of the song a classic. great job

    Alberto

  • Alberto. Il mio ukulele nuovo è in realtà uno strumento bellissimo.

  • ...si sente...

    Ciao !!!

    Alberto

  • beautifully done Ken! great of you to make it your own.

  • I discovered this word "noodling". Not absolutely sure what it it means, but I think that's what I'm doing.

  • I think you could play anything on that ukulele! it sounds gorgeous even to my challenged ears! It is so clear.

  • Thank you, Lynda.

  • This song is forever associated with the Australian movie "Strictly Ballroom" when the young couple dance on the roof of the dance studio, and he takes her glasses off an in an instant she is transformed into a ravishing beauty.

The theme of that film is how the young people want to dance their own steps, whereas the australian western pascific dance association will not allow any "new steps"

New steps and new notes go very well together. Rent the movie for a hilarious treat and a life lesson

  • Thanks for the advice. The version I like is by Bireli Lagrene.

  • well i was wondering what what website is good for ordering ukuleles inside the uk.

  • The biggest selection is at the Southern Ukulele Store (in Bournemouth and on eBay).

  • Stunningly beautiful music, as always! :-) I must of said that to you a hundred times! I love the look of concentration on your face, when you're in the 'zone'. Your new uke sounds gorgeous, very bright and clear. :-) X

  • Thanks Ruth. The uke does sound nice, doesn't it?.

  • Just wonderful. That uke Pete was made for you... wait, of course it was *actually* made for you so thats a silly thing to say, but you get the idea.

    Loved it.

  • Haha. It sounds OK, doesn't it?

  • Where did you buy this ukulele from I live in the united kingdom (england) to?

all the help you can give will be much appreciated. thanks. And that was loverly well done!

  • I commissioned it from Pete Howlett. What sort of help do you need?

  • Beautiful, love your improvs.

  • Thanks very much.

  • That ukulele sounds as beautiful as it looks and great playing too.

  • Thanks again Mr P.

  • So lovely and sure on those notes. Such a lovely instrument. The audio processing is giving you a little distortion. Perhaps a bit of feedback? Might be the reverb..dunno.

  • Thanks for telling me Alan. I can't tell on my laptop.

  • Wow. I will take just another improv on Time after Time from you any day.

  • Thanks Yoppy.

  • Beautifully done, Ken!

  • Thanks.

  • I will no longer refer to you as Ken I will call you UKE MASTER. Great playing as always thanks UKE MASTER

  • Haha. Thanks.

  • lol, too true! :-) X

  • superb, this is a great tune well played with greatness

  • Thanks K.

  • It actually sounds very much ilke the Wise ukuleles I played at Schoenberg's in Tiburon, California, made of Australian Blackwood, which I was told is a close relative to Hawaiian Koa. Those are constructed very lightly so as to be extremely responsive. Just like yours!! Congrats!!

  • I posted some pics of the Wise ukes on Bosko & Honey's Facebook page if you're curious!

  • Interesting. It is certainly responsive and has a terrific dynamic range, even to very quiet.

  • Excellent. I might be wrong but I think that uke may have been below that Undie in your last video ;) A sign that you're really enjoying your Howlett!

  • Thanks Shane. And you're right. It's a lovely instrument to play. The sound is very bright and pure so it won't be so good for Dylan, etc. I will probably record the tunes from my Celtic book on it though.

  • Was hoping you'd give the Howlett tenor a workout! Beautiful golden honey glow to that "helium" Koa! And of course, it sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing! : )

    Terry

  • Thanks Terry.

  • I haven't heard Jake's version--I just know I like this--a LOT! Beautiful! Gorgeous uke too!

  • Thanks very much, M.

  • Sounded pretty damned wonderful to me .

Could listen to it time after time actually

    Congrats!

  • Thank you, Stew.

  • Beautiful Ken. Mighty fine uke you have there.

  • Yes, it is really pretty. Thanks Deach.
